Staff was exceptional. Every single need was taken care of. The one reason the room is 4/5 stars is because of the older air conditioning. It was comfortable but the AC ran all night. I plan on booking here again once I save up to visit from New JerseyWalkability: The entire town has low traffic and all establishments are easy to get to on footFood & drinks: The Caribou Cafe and El J's are some of the most amazing food I have ever had. Everything is so fresh crispy and delicious. Plus the margaritas at El J's are next level. Avoid Grumpys unless you are a local.Noteworthy details: Definitely stop by the JC Penny homestead. The Mother Store is cool but the history of the homestead is way more interesting

Roadside motor inn in the heart of town, with unassuming exterior but nicely updated rooms and friendly, relatively easy remote check in.Made reservation online, arrived and called the number on the office door, were given the code for lockbox by our room and the key was inside.Bed comfy, coffee pot worked, bathroom a little cramped for my 6’2”, but fine otherwise.Rooms: Updated, comfortable

Clean and updated rooms! From the outside, it looks like any 1970's roadside motel, but after being checked in by the nice young man, I walked into my room and was amazed to see modern furnishings and a beautifully refurbished room.Definitely the best motel I have stayed in in this small Wyoming town! Oh yeah, and it was even less expensive than the other places in town that have poor reviews.

Jean was a pleasure to talk to when placing our reservation. We arrived three and half hours after the office closed, and she left everything for us, even turned the lights on for us. Plus to our surprise, there were treats for my husband and I, but also for our FurBabies! The room was great, clean, and the beds were comfy, especially after a long day of driving. So yes we highly recommend Fossil Butte, and we will definitely be back.

My Mom and I recently stayed here with my 2 children and 2 small dogs. The woman that checked us in was great. She gave my 2 girls each a bag of cookies which I thought was a sweet gesture. The rooms were very clean and accommodating. They were much larger than expected. There was plenty of helpful info in the room as to where to eat along with hours of operation and phone numbers. Overall, staying here was a very pleasant experience.

When I made reservations over the phone, the tone was welcoming and accommodating and the price was a bargain. We arrived in town around noon and just wanted to find out when check in time was. Even though we were way early and interrupting her free time, the owner graciously greeted us with cookies and had a room ready to move in. The motel is older. The kind we old folks remember from our childhood but it has been lovingly cared for and the rooms were immaculate. The quiet 2 queen room was large, with very comfortable, quilt covered beds, a larger screen tv (compared to usual motel offerings) and black out curtains in the main room. Refrigerator and microwave were ample and so clean they looked brand new. Wi-Fi connection was excellent. There were many thoughtful touches such as "the rag" (see photo), fluffy towels, extra pillows, well stocked coffee machine, ceramic coffee mugs, 2 beautiful comfortable chairs, a tv table if you want to eat in, TWO luggage racks, pretty embroidered curtains in the bathroom, a foamy soap dispenser that left my skin feeling very happy, and big shower head in the bathtub. Checkout was a breeze. Just leave the key in the room and lock the door. We visit Kemmerer twice a year and have always stayed in the Best Western but they were booked full this week. So glad they were. I love that it is a single story and there were no noisy patrons above us. We will be staying at the Fossil Butte Motel from now on.

Very pleasant small hotel. Beds were comfortable. Shower had lots of power and the amenities were good. Loved having a porcelain cup for my coffee instead of styrofoam. Also love the added touch of a "rag" available for cleaning up.

Locally owned by Americans. Amazing prices at $68 for a KS bed and a large spotless room. I can't remember the lady's name that owns it, but her willingness to accommodate us was unmatched in my 50+ years of travelling. Hell, she even left us extra towels outside to clean off the motorcycle before we left. On the way back to Colorado, we went 70 miles out of our way to stay there again. Solid 5 stars.....My first 5 star rating....ever.

The people who ran it were so nice. The rooms were nice and affordable. The rooms were cleaned very well and if staying for more than one night they will come clean your room unless you would like them not to. Overall wonderful place to stay

NEVER AGAIN!! It is currently 11:20 pm. We are in #7 and there is a room full of men in #6 partying. As if this isn’t frustrating enough when I called “Kabino” to have them help out, the lady on the phone had to verify our reservation. Who on earth lies about staying in the worst hotel in Wyoming? Why would I do this and what could I possibly gain? I highly recommend staying at the Best Western Plus (they were booked 😭) Tired and frustrated.

This darling little motel is a gem in Wyoming. The check in is friendly and they offer you muffins and cookies. The price is very reasonable. The rooms are incredibly clean. I was very impressed. The shower works great. You get a small fridge and a microwave, air conditioning and free Wi-Fi. Great experience over all

Besides having fun trying to pronounce Kemmerer, this was a good stay. The manager is very friendly and accommodating. The rooms are clean, shower works great, and there's plenty of parking. We'll be staying here again when we pass through.

The room was clean, beds were soft, easy check-in and check-out. Refrigerator, microwave, and coffee maker in the room. Only complaint is that there was no fan in the bathroom and the shower head was mounted at about 5'.

It is a clean motel, nothing fancy. In the room it has a fridge, microwave, coffeemaker, good sized TV with plenty of channels. The people who run the motel live there as well so they take pride in keeping it clean. But, since they are the owners and operators, when they need to leave they need to shut down the checkin/out area. There is a nice sitting area outside with tables, a bench swing, and a couple barbeques they encourage you to use. She seemed really cold at first when we were checking in, then warmed up to us and was really friendly, I think renting out her own space makes her a little nervous and she comes across a little cold until you talk to her a couple times and she trusts you. She did give us ideas for entertainment that we really enjoyed. The other units were rented by workers who were loud talkers and loud TV watchers. I had to call her at 12:30pm to get the noise reduced and it was magical how quickly that problem was solved. I felt bad that I had to wake her up in the middle of the night but she didn't seem to mind.The faucets are a little difficult to adjust, and the water wasn't hot enough at night-time but got plenty hot in the morning. They have a fridge in hallway 3-4 with buckets filled with Ice you can take so you don't need to fill one on your own, you can't fill a cooler without paying for more if you need a lot of ice. Check out was easy, she lets you just lock the keys in your room if you leave before she opens. (If you have kids be sure to go to the Diamondville city park close by, it is better than most large city parks and I was amazed.)I would stay there again since it is probably the cleanest place in town, they are responsive if you need anything, and you get to support a local business.

The Days Inn is suppose to be the high end in this town. But the Fossil Butte is the BEST in this town. I know I left there and came here and glad I did, it's cozy, so is the atmosphere and the beds feel like sleeping on clouds. And the staff rrally cares about their property and GUEST. Love it!!!

This is a very quaint motel with great service, excellent prices and very comfortable rooms. Whenever I need to stay anywhere near the Kemmerer area or even Green River or Rock Springs I head to the Fossil Butte. Jean (the owner) is a great host and very friendly person. Also, their Wi-Fi is one of the fastest I've ever had at any hotel or motel I've stayed at. I highly recommend this motel.

0 starsI was trying to unpack my brother and sisters luggage when the manager/owner came out harassing me. We were called liers for no prudent reason. We left after they gave us our money back. It was unsettling there with all the noise behind the building and the rooms smelled terrible. To make things worse they disrespect the American flag as we were leaving, I almost didn't get it back. I recommend the Fairview motel it is just across the street. The staff is a lot nicer there with more room and a better view anyway.

For the price, this place was GREAT! Very up to date, spacious, hot shower in even in the stormy winter, flat screen tv, extra pillows, microwave & good size fridge. Love it!

stayed here on business . I travel the usa for my job . This hotel is 1 of the best ive stayed in. fair price, helpfull above and beyond staff, clean rooms daily, wi-fi , cabel tv , can sleep up to 3 seperate beds, in 1 room, and the muffins are amazeing enough to stay just for those alone.
