River Forest Campground is the perfect place to relax and get away from the city. Amy and Rafael are very personable and accommodating. We got engaged during our weekend trip up north and it was perfect to come back to the campground, enjoy our cabin and have a nice fire. It was even more special to share our experiences of the day with others around the campground. They have a great team that helps them in the summer, especially Eddy and his family. We went Rafting on the Wolf river with Eddy and he is such an interesting, knowledgeable, and fun guide. Our trip down the river was more than just a fun recreational activity as he had lots of good advice and clues for us to have a successful marriage. Big Smokey Falls rafting company, who they work with, is a fantastic partner. We also did a solo tubing trip on a more calm section of the river and transportation was provided for us! River Forest Campground also has a new music venue in the back corner of the property that would be a great place to hold small outdoor events, live bands, or even weddings! I would highly recommend a getaway here!

Mark and I had a great first time experience here! Our site was towards the back of the grounds where it was semi private and still close enough to the clean bathrooms we could walk to.The owners are a wonderful couple who take the time to understand your needs and go above and beyond to ensure they are met. Our experience literally started when I called to make the reservation. Amy spent a good amount of time with me over the phone asking the right questions, and to thoroughly explain the different options available to us. Their commitment to welcoming you and making this a great place to make memories comes through at every step.It was a perfect weekend of good weather, great accommodations, and several activities on the river to choose from. We opted for a guided tour on the rafts through the falls, and it was well worth the money spent. We look forward to our next trip back and we will be recommending this place to others.

My significant other and I just left yesterday from our four day vacation. I will say I felt like I was at home. The customer service was amazing and the two owners were amazing people to talk with. And had a wonderful puppy named Bella, who you’ll see saying goodbye and hello to you. The cabin we stayed in (1 in the village) was super clean and was a nice break from the tenting experience. In that location there was little cell phone service which is what we both needed to disconnect. The rafting was also such a great experience. The first day we planned on going we got rained out but the owners were so wonderful and let us move the tubing experience back a day. I plan on coming here with my friends and my significant again and again. This was just such a great family place, with beautiful views. I can’t wait to come back for a concert on their stage and enjoy some more fun.Rooms: The cabins were wonderful and roomey. If you need a break from tenting I suggest a cabin otherwise the tenting sights were very large in size.Nearby activities: The campsite itself is about 25-30 minutes from Antigo. However the campsite is working on holding concerts at their stage.Safety: Everything’s was well lit, and was in a super good area. Very kid friendly

We had a wonderful experience at River Forest Campground! I was especially impressed by the small cabins we were able to rent. All equipped with a window AC unit and a mini fridge. They have everything you could need right on site at their convenience store, so I wouldn't worry if you forget something. They also serve delicious ice cream all day!You can tell the owners have put a lot of work into making it a wonderful experience for their guests! We drove 3.75 hours from the Twin Cities and it was well worth it. Can't wait to go back and do some kayaking this time!

This campground is awesome. We came up with friends who booked two sites towards the back of the property and we stayed in one of the cabins near the entrance. The cabin was a little bigger than we were expecting which was really nice! The mattresses were comfy too. It would be cool if there was a screen for the door but it’s not a dealbreaker by any means. The owners(?) were super friendly and helpful- they gave us recommendations for parts of the river to hike/waterfalls to see. The convenience store was great too - if they didn’t have something our friend group inquired about, they offered to get it. This was truly the best camping experience I’ve had. Thank you!Nearby activities: The Wolf River and surrounding forests are extra-beautifulFood & drinks: They have the best Cedar Crest ice cream flavor in their convenience store (Blue Moon!!)Noteworthy details: Their camp dog Bella was cute and friendly :)

A group of us recently stayed here at River Forest and had a great time! The campground location is extremely convenient for rafting on the rapids along Wolf River. We originally were going to raft with another company, but River Forest recommended we use Big Smokey Falls Rafting. We’re so glad we did because the equipment was great to work with. Both the campground and the rafting company provided transportation to and from the campground which made it easy to enjoy some drinks on our trip down the river. The owners were incredibly nice and laid back. Highly recommend staying!

Our stay at River Forest was great! The owners are friendly, attentive, service-driven and on-top of making sure their guests enjoyed their stay. Rafael delivered a bucket of fantastic fire wood to our site and offered to watch our dog while we rafted. The grounds are well taken care of, shady and provide ample places to park your trailer or pitch your tent. I enjoyed walking our dog and looking at all the plants and wildlife a few times a day. There is electric at some sites and plenty of spigots to get water throughout the grounds. We river rafted through Big Smokey - which Amy said we could pay for and schedule at River Forest - super convenient. Rafael also drove to our campsite to pick us up the morning of rafting, which was so nice! One minor issue - lack of actual bathrooms near the campsites. There is one, but there was often a long line to wait for the women's and the septic backed up frequently in the men's. The other actual bathrooms are a long walk down the hill to the store. The owners provided port-a-johns and outhouses... but not everyone wants to use those due to personal comfort - hence the long line to wait. We ended up using the port-a-johns most of the weekend. Second minor issue - rude campers playing their music so loud you could hear it across the entire campground. No one wants to hear YOUR music that loud while they are at their site trying to listen to their music and relax. Not sure this is anything the owners could police. Overall a wonderful time and we will definitely be back!Nearby activities: hiking, river rafting and tubing, camping

What a wonderful campground this is! The owners were extremely kind and helpful for all of my questions. I had one concern over toilet paper in the out-houses, which they fixed IMMEDIATELY (unheard of). We went tubing down the river, which was a lot out of my comfort zone, but they were kind to me when I was anxious. I would note to new tubers, there are rapids in the river, which can be exhilarating fun, but you will need to dodge a lot of rocks and sometimes fight your way out of being stuck. If you're looking for strictly "lazy river" tubing, this may not be the excursion for you. The tent sites were nicely spaced apart and everything was very clean. While I do enjoy the extreme quiet a state park offers, this campground was fine on noise level, even on a holiday weekend. Will definitely recommend this to my family and friends!

Our campsite was not only well maintained, level, and private but also breathtakingly picturesque. The convenience of having immediate access to well-kept bathroom and shower facilities greatly enhanced our stay. The tubing excursion was an absolute highlight, and we highly recommend it to everyone. Without a doubt, we are already eagerly anticipating our frequent return to this exceptional campground.

Found this gem because it was 8mins away from shot gun eddy river rafting! Amy and Rafael were the best owners and hosts we could have asked for. Amy was super knowledgeable about things to do in the area and overall great personality. The campsite was nice and clean and pretty spacious. Electric and non electric sites as well as cabins! Water spouts were also available. Showers and bathroom were super clean. Overall we had a blast!

Love this place! The campsites aren't too close together, plenty of trees, low key family vibes going on here! It's a very at-home welcoming experience and I recommend to any family looking to unplug and get back in touch with nature. There are various lakes and rivers nearby for swimming or whitewater rafting .Not to mention the owners are down to Earth, friendly , and all around good peoples. So whether your looking for a quiet retreat or something a bit more adventurous this is the place to go!

We camped here for the 1st time ever 8/5/22 - 8/7/22 and took the tubing trip. I was very impressed at the cleanliness and tidyness of everything. Especially the bathrooms / showers. The hospitality of the staff was absolutely amazing. You can tell there's a passion for what they are doing. The store was very well stocked and had everything you'd need if you forgot something. The campground and individual sites were well maintained and still gave you that rustic feel you look for. I heard there were new owners this year, and it sounds like this is just the beginning of something very special. I look forward to returning very soon!

We had the best time at this lovely campground. We loved that the campsites are spaced far apart in the woods and that there was electricity available. The staff were so accommodating and kind, we felt like they were friends by the end of the weekend. They had one of everything you might have forgotten at home in the camp store, and they even have ice cream cones. The restrooms and showers were in good shape. The rafting adventure was the highlight of the trip and even though the river was low, it did not disappoint. We will definitely camp here again!

We will absolutely treasure our wonderful stay in the tiny cabin we rented with our kids for their first rafting trip. The new owners were incredibly accommodating and kind. The mattresses were comfortable and the site was beautiful, especially at night when we saw more stars in the sky then we ever imagined existed. We can't wait to return and stay longer next time. Also the pop rocks ice was delicious!

First time staying here. Owners are incredibly friendly and work very hard to keep the property moving ahead and up-to-date. When we showed up they were updating the electric power hookups at the sites and they made our site a priority over all others since we got there early. The bathrooms were kept very clean which is always a positive. Their location puts them right in the mix with a lot of rafting, kayaking, and hiking adventures. The canteen shop is full of all sorts of goodies in case anything was forgotten and do not forget to ask about their pizza delivery service in the evening. In short, I went down to buy a frozen pizza and he (owner) cooked it in the their pizza oven and drove it up on his 4-wheeler. Very cool thing to do.

The staff was super friendly, accommodating and respectful. Their camp store has any camping essentials that you may have forgotten. I recommend to take them up on a bucket full of wood, it is a skid steer bucket and it was the perfect amount of wood for a 2 night and 3 day camping trip. The site we had was electric and the electric post was a bit farther than the extension cord we had brought. Bring the longest cord you have just in case, but the staff actually let us borrow a few extension cords to make our stay more comfortable. 10/10 would stay here again. Also they worked with Herbs Rafting service down the road, drove us there and we were able to pay for our rafting services there as well. You wont get much cell service on the campground or near it, but the camp store does have WIFI that works very well. Also the bathrooms and showers were nicer than most camp grounds I have stayed at in the past! We had an amazing stay and look forward to coming back again later this year!

Had a great time staying here. The owners were very helpful and hospitable. They made everyone feel welcome.Camp sites range from 2 - 3 people sites to large sites suitable for groups up to 5 - 10 people. Some sites have electrical hookups. There are full plumbing bathrooms and coin operated showers. They work with the local tribes to manage their amazing wooded campsite. There's a rafting outfitter that operates on site. Also, check out these stars! Would definitely go back

Such an awesome campground with a great vibe. The owners are amazing - super welcoming and always willing to make sure you have a great stay! They have rafting and tubing leaving right from the camp. Depending on the weekend they also have yoga classes, archery, plant hikes, spiritual classes and more! Short drive from Milwaukee. Three hours and you’re in the Northwoods! Right by the Wolf River. Lots of hiking. The cabins are great! Queen size bed and electricity (or 4 bunks). There are also traditional camp sites and group camping. The convenience store magically has everything you could possibly need or happened to forget. I didn’t want to leave and can’t wait to go back!
