We were pleasantly surprised by the nature of PK's approach to dog training. She spent much of the class time teaching us about dog behavior and how to use those insights to interact with them successfully. Our border collie puppies learned their lessons quickly, much to our amazement. There is an element of "homework" involved in successfully learning the lessons, both for us and our two puppies. The time and resources invested were very well expended and continue to render dividends to both us and our dogs.

PK was great to work with. We really loved how she focused on the things that would keep our dog healthy and safe. Our puppy was transformed from wild and jumping on everyone to calm, in control and fun to be around. The one on one trainings were nice and we were able to address all our concerns through the 8 classes. What a great experience!

PK is, quite honestly, the best around. I would give her 10 stars if I could! I was frantically searching Google for a trainer that would help us get control of our rescue dog, who had become aggressive toward our 11 year old dog. I flagged a few trainers I came across, but immediately stopped looking and threw out the numbers of the other trainers I had planned to contact, when I found PK’s website. Her approach sounded like exactly what we needed. I called her and was pleasantly surprised by her willingness to offer advice even before we started training. She calmly explained why we were likely seeing the undesirable behaviors and gave tips and pointers for how to deal with them before our classes began.While PK is a wealth of knowledge about training, feeding, grooming, etc., her infinite wisdom and experience are equally matched by her kind heart and her passion to help her students and their canine companions. She truly wants to make a difference and makes herself available for questions outside of class so any issues that develop between classes can be addressed in real-time.Pk taught us how to communicate with our dogs and has given us the tools to teach them their jobs. She uses, and has reinforced that we use, a tough voice to let the dogs know what is expected of them, and our dogs responded to it immediately (our rescue dog LOVES PK!). Her approach has allowed us to regain control in our home and reestablish a positive relationship between our dogs. We couldn’t have done this without PK and are forever grateful to her!!!

PK's passion for training and her love of dogs shines bright and clear. I love her approach that the safety of the dog is the primary concern,which translates to how to wait, how to approach other dogs, not running through open doors and most importantly, "how to get easy," which means gaining control of themselves in a high exciteability situation. Training maintains a sense of fun and play while stressing the importance of the dog doing their job. I also have to credit PK for helping us understand the importance of diet, which prompted us to switch to a balanced raw diet for our pup. Our rowdy bundle of energy is now a well-behaved joy to share our life with. Thank you PK!

Our experience with working with and getting to know PK has truly been incredibly life and mind changing. Her heart, knowledge, skill and teaching method has helped us reframe and refocus our relationship with our 3 year old sheepdog/mix Louie. PK is so generous with her knowledge, which helped us tremendously in understanding the contexts of building trust in our relationship with Louie to keep him safe. I found For Love of Dogs through a Google Search, and based on the description, my husband and I decided that this non-traditional training approach was exactly what what we wanted. PK didn’t disappoint! As a matter of fact, she continually amazed us with her expertise, deep knowledge, and amazingly fast results. Each session provided my husband and I with new insights for helping our dog, Wyatt, to develop good decision making skills and self control that will keep him safe, healthy, and happy. He ADORES her, and we look forward to continue learning beyond our initial 8 lessons.

PK is extremely knowledgeable and experienced It is easy to see her love for animals and passion for dogs. Her training is non traditional compared to current trainings out there which is refreshing as it appears most modern training now constantly distracts the dog with food versus rewarding them for their hard work.There was a large educational part for us as owners which I appreciated as a new dog owner and my husband learned a lot about the thought process behind it,as a previous dog owner. She was very flexible with class times and the class is really a great deal for a 1:1 class and being able to contact her at any time for advice. Kota our rescue puppy is definitely grateful to have a guardian angel like PK to teach us, his owners to advocate for him.

PK is the best trainer around, period. She cares deeply for dogs and wants the best for them as well as their families. I have used her services for three of my dogs. My first dog, a female, started with her two days after we got her. She has been the perfect dog and I attribute this to her training. My other two dogs are just finishing up with her. Both males who had gotten into some scraps. The younger male being the aggressor. She has taught them and I how to manage their relationship and themselves. It has been a complete 180° bringing peace and a healthy environment for the dogs to my household. I honestly don't know what I would have done if not for PK.Her services will blow your mind. It is money and time we spent.

Working with PK was spectacular. She taught me so much about what my dog needs from me as far as communication rather than commands. She changed almost everything I was doing from the way I fed him to the way I walked him. We noticed the differences in just a week or two of classes but now after we’re all done, he’s much more sure of himself and more trusting of me too. I have too many good things to say here, but I drove an hour each way to get to PK and it was completely worth it and I never doubted that it would be. Thank you PK

I just finished a weekend boot camp experience with my brother & his 1 year old bloodhound. PK has an amazing gift in the way she explains communication to her canine and human students. She tailored our boot camp to cover the specific difficulties my brother had with expressing himself clearly to his pup and helped both of them gain confidence that they will be able to carry their communication to whole new levels. The two day experience worked best with my brother's work schedule and while it wore us all out, it also made us feel like we had accomplished so much. There is much more to do and PK gave us the communication tools to move forward. Thank you PK! Oh, and the lunches were divine! Fresh, tasty, filling but not heavy.

PK Shader is the real deal. She loves, admires, and respects dogs. She treats them like the intelligent, kind souls that they are. I have never encountered her training method before and was so grateful it existed because it aligns with everything I believe about animals. You will learn a lot, you will improve your relationship with your dogs (and other animals you use this on - horses, cats, donkey's etc) and you will improve the quality of both of your lives. There is nothing I could write in this review that would adequately convey how appreciative I am to have found PK. I've had dogs my entire life but never had a dog that was "well behaved" enough in my opinion. I reached out to PK before we brought home our English Springer Spaniel Puppy in July at 7 weeks because we wanted to enjoy having this dog as a part of our family vs something we needed to watch/manage/worry about. Her advice was life changing. Through SATS we've learned that we don't have to manage our dogs, instead we can teach them what their jobs are and let them manage themselves. This is the first puppy I've had that has slept through the night. My 6 year old son's toys are all over the living room and she leaves them alone. Walking off leash is a breeze. She obviously has some things to work on but PK has given us tools to deal with those opportunities. In addition to the 4 weeks of classes shes been available via text/phone/email for any questions we had day or night, she helped me learn how to properly advocate for my dog at the Vet by teaching me what questions to ask, and she helped me learn more about canine nutrition. She felt way more like a partner or family member than simply a trainer. If you are looking for a different & much better way of working with your dog built on mutual respect you will definitely want to reach out to For Love of Dogs!

Taking classes at For Love of Dogs was the best investment I have made for my dogs. I have had dogs for over 20 years and have taken classes at other facilities. Truly amazing. Pk is someone that really knows her stuff! I brought our 4 dogs in, ranging from 5months old to 13 years old of all varieties and past lives (rescues) and by the end of our weekend bootcamp, we were all on the same page! With hard work and consistency on our end, all fights stopped, ears turned on and the communication we developed with our pups was a world of difference than when we walked in. Our life changed for the better thanks to Pk and her wealth of knowledge! Any future dogs will be going with us to her for a fun, learning filled boot camp weekend! 100% recommended to anyone with any age or breed of dog. What she teaches is beneficial to all!

Very fulfilling experience this was. Can't thank PK enough. PK taught us how to work with our dog (younger male). He had no confidence, food aggression, frightened of many things, went crazy over people and dogs (he had no sense of control), and we had no sense of communication with him. (He was already house broken and knew basic tricks) Thanks to PK, I can now say I have never met a dog more confident and I can finally communicate with my boy. What an experience.. I am so blessed and grateful to have found PK. I highly recommend her services! PK, you rock! **She teaches, not trains. She is holistic, and very knowledgeable. She takes no B*llsh*t. I adopted a lab mix almost 6 months ago and tried two different trainers. I wasn't comfortable with the approach one trainer used and the other wasn't dependable. I am beyond amazed at the difference in Libby after our time with PK. Before coming to For Love of Dogs, Libby was so busy trying to protect us that I was worried she was going to be aggressive towards a stranger. PK doesn't train but educates. She taught me how to communicate with Libby and it has made a world of difference. Libby is the wonderful companion I thought she could be. I strongly recommend you bring your dog here.

My 1 year old Doberman spent the week at For Love of Dogs and when she came back I couldn’t have been happier! She has a title in lure coursing and I always thought that with her prey drive and the fact that I feed her frozen whole prey rabbits that if she ever got loose around one I’d never be able to control her.Well when we finally got home I didn’t check the back yard and let everyone out to go potty. I suddenly heard a squeal and looked out to see Harvest about a foot behind a terrified rabbit who was running for cover. Well I yanked open the door and yelled for her to leave it!She did! She stopped and looked at me and walked inside. Needless to say I was thrilled! I couldn’t believe she had left the rabbit in the middle of a high prey drive chase!!!! Thank you PK for showing us how to be a team and the knowledge that even if Harvest bolts I know that she will recall and my yard bunny thanks you too!
