We have camped at this campground nearly every year of my life. The improvements they've made over the years are greatly appreciated by us. The location is beautiful, the sites are not too close together and there are many options for either tent camping, or camper camping regardless of the size camper you have. There's a playground for kids and an open field to run around in. There's also a pavilion for events, and a pathway down to the lake with a little creek at the far end of the park. The facilities are well maintained and include showers, toilets, and sinks. The bathrooms are cleaned daily and it is easy to notify the camp hosts if something needs attention. The showers take a minimum of 3 quarters to operate, with each quarter buying you additional time. The water pressure isn't great, but we're just grateful for the ability to get clean when we are camping. Our two biggest complaints would be the wood there is never EVER dry. If you need firewood, go to the IGA or one of the gas stations in town. It's a lot more expensive, but at least you'll be able to have a fire! And we would also appreciate knowing how long a quarter buys you in the shower!

We stayed 6 days in this really quiet, clean and peaceful campground. Even though it was full of dogs and kids, unlike other campgrounds we’ve stayed in, there was no barking, no running children in other sites…really well behaved and considerate. The only negative is that the dump is at the wrong angle so it is impossible to get a good clean out and the hose is useless for rinsing.

They have a beautiful view of Lake Superior. The bathrooms are always pretty well maintained. The playground is a little outdated but it works. There are swings a slide and some rocking animals to sit on. There is a nice pavilion for party's or picnics. And a neat little path to the water.

We only visited the picnic pavilion area, but it was nice. Great view of the lake. A big field nearby. A grill for cooking was very close by. There were lights and a couple of power plugins available.Picnic area: The tables were nice and sturdy. They are under a roof, but still outside (open on all four sides), so we'd recommend table cloths.

You are paying fornit wether you want it or not. Whuke $35 a night for electric, cable TV, wifi, coin showers, and flat sites is not bad,I didn't need the hook-ups. In fact, my site did not have the hookups, but i still had to pay full price. However, i came in late, racing a storm, and maybe one other space was available. My space 44 may have only been open because it was lacking.Oh, and use a tablecloth and put something down on the bench, or your clothes will be covered in tree sap.

There is a path down to the water that can be used for launching kayaks. At the bottom there are about 6 stairs. Bathrooms were cleaned daily. Great views. We were in site 22 and there are people that come over bridges from the north end to get to the bathroom. (Affects sites 21, 22, 23 but these have great views.)

I walked to it via a really great trail. The park is super clean, tidy and quiet!! It's nestled in tall pines with an outstanding view of Lake Superior. I'm not a "camper" but if I was it would be a nice place to stay.

Campground, small, difficult to use park restroom without walking through other people's campsites. Restrooms also needs update. Has electrical outlets for most sites, but very crowded at times. Firewood available, the few site by lake edge $45 a night

Very reasonable pricing for campsites, the only price difference is for waterfront sites. They have the warmest bathrooms ever! Just make sure to bring your quarters for the showers. And the hiking trail /shore access is so beautiful.Playground: Swings, metal slide, climbing... it's more "big kid" friendly but is fun for all ages.Restrooms: Located at the center of the campground, they are always very clean. There are 3 stalls & 3 showers in the women's (assuming the same in mens) . There is counter space for drying your hair or getting ready. Hair dryer NOT provided.Dog-friendliness: Very dog friendly. Just make sure you leash them and clean up after them!

Unique views of Lake Superior with fantastic wooden campsites.Sorry to see some loss of trees to erosion and old age.Still beautiful restful spot!Premo spots on water are now $40 per night.Eagle was out this AM by shoreline tree while we were cooking breakfast.Showered was a little cool this AM until the 4th quarter inserted.Still the most beautiful campsites we have been to on Chequamegon Bay. Absolute wonderful breezes. They have done wonders with park roads and trailer parking spots with the newer gravel base.6/14/2023Gravel pads reworked! Multiple potable water faucets installed thruout campgrounds. Sidewalk next to showers/ bathroom redone, new sinks in Men's bathroom. Sad to say a number of pine trees had to be removed this past year. Water is crystal clear!!10/5-8/2023Still fabulous..lucked out with #38 on Lake. Beautiful view. Harbor View is going to open up as restaurant in near future. Great food at Patsy's ...IGA store has lots of grocery & liquor items. Great time.

The views are spectacular! The people around us were friendly, and we had a great time.It had to take a star for the condition of the latrine. COVID led to the closure of the showers, but you could see that they were the same condition as the rest of the bathroom. The floors have traction pits, which are all dirt, the fans are caked in filth, making me believe they have never been cleaned, and the walls around the sink are covered in a mixture of dirt and soap. However, there is indoor plumbing, which is a huge plus for me!

This is a beautiful place to stay when visiting the Apostle Islands. It is better suited for smaller campers and tents than RV's and 5th wheels. The bathrooms have showers and are generally clean. You can purchase firewood on premises. There are views of Lake Superior from almost every campsite. It is also usually quiet here. No loud music or rowdy gatherings. We were lucky enough to get campsite 41 this year right on the lake. Something I've noticed different from past years is that people no longer respect privacy. People would walk right through our campsite to get down to the lake making our dogs go crazy. Once I was changing in our camper and someone walked up from the lake and looked right into the window! Be warned if you take a lakefront site you may very well have strangers walking through your site!

Two days after Labor Day hardly anyone here. So peaceful. Surrounded by trails, and fun things to do. Facilities were cleaned daily, showers available for 25¢ a min(gets hot after 2 min), wood available with a cart transport $10 a cart load. Great prices for camping, wonderful sunrise views. Already thinking of when we can come back. Thank you to the site managers, we loved our stay❤

We rode our bikes around the lake and found this campground. I am coming back. Big sites can fit my 35ft RV. Big bonus you can put your small boat at the site and have a fire on your beach.

Great little campground. The spot we had would have been tight for a camper, but it was great for a tent or two. Bathrooms were not new, but they were clean and functionable, with coin operated shower. But the best part is the lake, of course. Loved being able to hear it from our tent.Watch out for crows, the rascals got ahold of a loaf of bread...we were only gone a few minutes!

Nice clean quiet park spread out through a mixture of mature trees for shade. Firewood sold on site along with very clean bathrooms. No showers due to covid but plenty of locations to dip in superior. Great location to explore in all directions. Will be returning in the future!!

Not too large, not too small. About 40 spaces total, a nice mix between tent camping and RV. Right on Lake Superior Chequamegon Bay with some nice views if you're at the edge. Lake is almost inaccessible except for one designated path that takes you down to a very small beach type area. Free Wi-Fi is probably some of the fastest I've ever experienced anywhere believe it or not. The rate for a truck camper was $27 which is very reasonable

We went to the "ice caves" and were thoroughly disappointed. It was nothing like the website pics. It showed groomed trails to the caves, not the case. The guides did not act in a professional manner, they walked 1/4 mile ahead of the group and only 1 had any safety gear. The caves weren't as depicted either there was nothing "ice" about them. Definitely not recommended especially if you aren't in shape to be trudging through deeper snow for a 3-4 mile walk across the lake

The more rustic, scenic and wooded campground of the two campgrounds operated by the city of Washburn. Gorgeous Lake Superior views from the public park area and from a handful of campsites. Pricier than nearby National Forest campgrounds, but offers more amenities in comparison.

Overall a good campground with only a couple thing that would make it great.Good: showers and bathrooms are nice, reasonable pay showers.Sites are layed out nice with one or two odd balls.WiFi is actually pretty good.Nice views.High police presence.Quiet.Needs improvement:Playground is very out of date to the point of being dangerous. The toddler swing is tied up with questionable ropes. The wood they sell is wet and doesn't burn well. It works in a pinch.People horde sites. There always is sites with empty cheap tents days before the weekend.Size limits need to be set for some of the sites.Any site can be seasonal. More and more sites are being used as seasonal, to the point it feels like the entire campground might be going that route.Overall I enjoy my stays and hope they continue to improve the park.

This is a lovely park and I come here annually. The hosts(2 of them) are worthless. Neither are usually here and they close an extra campsite next to each of them for the parking of them and guests....while countless people who travelled hours to camp here are turned away. THAT pisses me off. I can't tell you how many people have stopped at my site to inquire about the "hosts". They are here for free camping only! I may have to choose a campground elsewhere. Too bad for Cocos and all the other businesses in town I spend ALOT of money at. What happened here? 2 hosts in one wing and no one here ever?

Matt Schweitzer

2022-06

No interaction by camp host(s). Moderately clean shower/bathrooms. Lakeside sights should only be tent sites. RVs destroy any kind if view. Limit sites to one week. Too many people take sites for a month and arent here but for weekends. And dont allow seasonals. Take entire site and are here very little.

Beautiful view of bay on most campsites. One of the nicest camping experiences I have ever had , host of the campground was knowledgeable of area, public restroom's where clean.Free WiFi! And electric on most sites.Close to town . If you don't want to drive they have the Bart bus that goes to Bayfield and Ashland a few time a day .

This is a wonderful, quiet park. Great for families; heated restrooms, warm showers (25¢ for 3 min or so), lightly wooded, small and not overly crowded, peaceful lake view, small playground, nicely located close to area attractions. Convenient dumping, water stations throughout. We hope to visit again someday!

Nice park. This is our second time staying here and it's still great. The only difference this time is someone who brought everything they own with them and parked in front blocking everyones view. Can't see the water from three sites in. That kind of sucks. Haven't seen a camp host.

Nice clean park. Electric, no sewer (has dump) water can be tricky, 1 faucet post for 3-4 RV's. Close to town, has all necessities. Close to Bayfield.
