Amazing treasure hunting adventure! I visited by reputation expecting a modest used book store, and what I found was thousands upon thousands of used (and some new) books, maps, and artworks that would take over a day to explore. I came away with 2 books and 2 historic maps. In a super cool historic building. I will definitely return!

Driftless Books and Music is more than books and music — it is a wonderfully curated collection of all things creative. My expectations of a “used book store” quickly flew out of the window when I stepped through the doors. I loved exploring every nook and cranny, perusing through stacks of new and used titles. Driftless Books and Music is a destination, one that any visitor should block off an hour (or four) to truly experience what is offered. In addition to their brick and mortar, they also offer an online book ordering service.

Simply amazing array of books of all shapes and sizes! I would have to say this place has more books than most libraries! Any subject you could think of there is a book(s) that will cover it. We didn't have a lot of time to browse, will definitely go back soon. Plan on spending at least 4 hours maybe more to do it right...

A person could get lost in here for days. There are so many books, it's hard to know where to begin looking. Considering how many books are there, it is fairly well organized. The staff was friendly and helpful. I managed to buy only 6 today, but next time, I'm bringing a list!

Walking through the front door and getting hit with the lovely smell of books was fantastic👌There's so much to look at in every little nook and cranny of this place. The pictures I uploaded do not do this place justice with how big it actually is.Staff was incredibly helpful, even let us go upstairs where they keep overstock and books yet to be priced. Not as organized as the main floor of the store, which I did not mind. It made it a lot of fun looking for the right book to grab my attention. My wife and I spent two hours searching, laughing, enjoying the artwork, and just taking everything else in. It really did not feel like two hours. The chipmunk painting is one I enjoyed the most in the store. It's so rediculous but I'm all about that. 🐿️You need to check out this place. Youll never know what youre going to find.

A true gem of a bookstore hidden in the hills of Southwestern Wisconsin, Driftless Books and Music is a unique and worthwhile trip for any booklover. There is a lot to be said about Driftless B&M. It occupies an old warehouse that used to house goods from the railroads, of which the old station sits across the street. They make no attempts to cover the blue collar history of the building's past, so the ambiance and atmosphere is interesting right off the bat. However, this also means that the climate control during the summer can leave much to be desired, especially on the hotter and more humid days. This is a trivial and insignificant complaint in comparison to the myriad treasures contained within the shop. The first thing you notice when you enter the shop and pass through the humble mezzanine/entry room is the size of the place. Like I mentioned earlier, this place is substantial. Even with its size, every square foot of the floorplan is occupied with relevant product. In most areas, the bookshelves are 12-15 feet tall; I had to fetch a very tall ladder to get to the books I was after. These shelves line the walls and stand in much of the shop. There are other, smaller shelves, as well as tables with featured books, and between them, they ensure a heaping selection of inventory. The staff were all very friendly and helpful, which one would need if they were short on time and needed expedient direction to their desired literature. However, if you have time, the sections are fairly well organized and easy to follow if you pay attention.Their selection is as substantial as their warehouse allows. The generous space holds books for just about any curiosity; from the ubiquitous paperback romance novel to every history, science, or math book one could imagine. You won't find yourself at a loss when you visit Driftless Books and Music, unless what you're searching for is exceptionally rare or obscure. If for nothing else, go for the ambiance, the old book smell, and the historical significance. If you're a true book lover, you certainty won't regret the trip.

Just discovered this treasure in the historic tobacco warehouse district of Viroqua. Not heated, so closing for Winter season in just a few days. An amazing collection used books of every possible genre, vinyl records, eclectic displays and great jazz music. Nooks and crannies everywhere. Upstairs hosts a major online books sales operations. I highly recommend this as part of your next visit to Virocqua in the Spring/Summer/Fall seasons.

This is a large, general-interest used bookstore in a really cool old building. They have a wide variety of books, shelved in categories, with reasonable prices clearly penciled into each one. If you are a bookstore person and passing near Viroqua, it’s definitely worth a stop here. Unless your interests are very well-defined and limited, budget at least an hour to have a good, thorough look.I’ll definitely plan a return visit in the future.

Eccentric as hell. Great ambiance. Great books. It reminds me of the library in the relam of dreams. Where any book written or imagined exists.

Delightful used book store located in an old tobacco factory. Has a huge selection of rare books, as well as more contemporary and popular. Comic books, records, etc - just a massive selection. My only real complain is they could use better lighting in there, can get pretty dim in some areas.

This place is so magical to me. I feel so comfy just walking the mountains of books. Its closed in winter but it just makes my heart grow fonder. They also do live music here as well. Which adds to the magic.

This is an amazing business it truly has just about everything you could imagine you could wander for a week and still find a new book section. If you can't find what you're looking for ask and they will know exactly where want you want is, I hope to be able to attend one of their music shows next year.

Such an awesome place full of the largest selection of books spanning every subject. Eclectic, full of character, a place I could get lost in and spend all day in. Only four stars because it's near impossible to find a single book you may be specifically looking for.

Neat book store and concert venue off the beaten path. Wall to wall old books in an old tobacco warehouse. Books provide for great acoustics for the concerts.

If I could only use one word to describe this place, it would be 'Magic'.If you're looking for a bookstore that only exists in your dreams, look no further. Mountains of books, everywhere you turn! Books you didn't even know you wanted and weren't searching for! It's almost as if the store itself knows what you need and the books find you as you wander through the stacks. I've never left empty-handed. The staff is incredible, the ambiance is eclectic and cozy, and my heart feels warm the second I enter this place. Truly, truly a must if you're in the area. If you're one of those folks for whom books carry a special kind of magic, this place will delight you in ways you don't expect. I recommend calling if you're driving from out of town, they do have regular hours but on occasion they may be closed. They also close for the winter.

Quite possibly the coolest book store/performance venue on the planet, located in a massive old tobacco warehouse, in the midst of a wonderful little gem of a village.

If you like losing a day perusing books, this is your place. Sadly, I am not and was willing dragged in. I will rate this at 4 stars because for the kinds of people who like this sort of thing, this is definitely the kind of place they would like. I wish there was more clearly defined parking out front.

We love this bookstore! So many old books with some contemporary titles sprinkled within. We couldn't stay for the music but at some point we will be back for it. A must place to visit when in Viroqua.

Sometimes I pop in just for the smell of old books that have passed through the hands of countless folks over countless years. Sometimes for a spot of existential chat to clear my head of the mundane. Sometimes as a panacea for a dark mood or, a tad sadly, to exacerbate that darkness. A bookstore for all your pleasures and all your ills.
