They had an ice cream flavor that was out of this world. Banana and vanilla cream, with chunks of peanut butter and chocolate crunch. They also had a chocolate cookie filled with icing. Awesome. The owner and staff are really nice, we got to pet their dog (named BOGUS!) for a bit.

My family has been making special trips to this bakery for three last 5 years after discovering it on a road trip. It's such a little hidden gem. Fair warning though, under the new ownership they DO NOT have the Swedish Donuts anymore. We tried several of their offerings and they were all delicious in their own way, but it didn't hit like the Swedish Donuts we've been making trips for. It's still a great place, just be warned if you are expecting those perfect cinnamon and sugar pillows that they are no longer available.

The Swedish doughnuts are amazing. One of the best pastries I’ve ever had. Are they still being made by the new owner?

I bought the sourdough bread and chocolate chip cookie - and couldn’t wait the 1.5 hour ride home. The smell was amazing but let me tell you in one word about the flavor: YUMMY!!! The owner/operator was friendly, knowledgeable (the maple oat latte was delicious) and obviously hard working. Great experience.

The cafe was amazing! The waitress was super courteous and even got us some water for our dog who sat with us outside. The food was absolutely amazing! I had the Farm to Table Burger and my wife had the Rueben, both were fantastic, with great sides. The kids enjoyed ice cream at the adjacent shop which was also amazing! Overall the experience was great! We got to sit in the shade on an amazing July day and enjoy a wonderful meal. A little bit more than what you would expect to pay for a burger in the area but by far worth every penny!

Smiling pelican was closed today, so we drove a little further and discovered this gem. Fresh baked goods, good choices, has gluten-free options. If you stay long enough you can try fresh out of the oven baked goods. Cash only. Lots of outdoor seating.

Went to this bakery first thing in the morning. We tried a fresh Swedish Donut and literally went back in for another one! I wouldn’t normally have tried something like that but it was delicious. Both my husband and I think the soda bread is the best bread we have ever had! Don’t drive past this place! The baker is so friendly and fun! It was a great experience all around!

I went to Stockholm for the first time with my mom and sister and we stopped in to the bakery and the baker convinced us to try to Swedish donut. OMG this was the best thing I have ever tried. She said it had cinnamon, sugar, cardamom and a special ingredient and I am pretty sure the special ingredient is love. Cannot wait to go back!

This cute little gem is hidden in a little courtyard and and has the most delicious Swedish donuts EVER! I came here last month to get a couple of donuts, and Colleen said that she would be retiring soon..😟 So I have a sneaky suspicion ..that those donuts won't be made any more...since they have a (secret ingredient). I wish Colleen the best, and have fun at the retirement gig...It is GREAT! 😉😁I'll stop by May of 22..just to check out the treats. Sadly..my Swedish donut obsession will no longer be satisfied..😭 🥐🥐🥐

I have visited Bogus Creek Cafe in Stockholm, Wisconsin, on the Great River Road, many times, enjoying the pastries and breads! The owner is so much fun, And the ambiance is great! Outdoor seating in a sweet courtyard, on the way to the wonderful Indigo Swan Jewelry and Fine Art Gallery. (Full disclosure: I sell my handcrafted jewelry at Indigo Swan, along with many other jewelers and artisans)

We just visited today Sunday July 26, 2022. The baker was just pulling out fresh foccacia bread with balsalmic infused tomatoes and parmesan cheese. I stoped back on the way out of town. I have never had such a great foccacia bread and I used to run a bakery! The bottom was buttery with a decadent crust and the inside was so light and fluffy . The combinations were shear perfection! I got home 45 min later and proceeded to eat half of it! I will be back! If you own this and read this i would love to contact you for further info😊

The fruits and vegetables here are fresh from local farms. I had the Greek salmon salad that was the most delicious salad I have ever eaten. My sister said her Reuben sandwich was also the best made with delicious fresh baked cranberry bread from their very own bakery. The scenery here is so relaxing and pretty. A must place to go if you are in the area.

I stop at Bogus Creek Bakery every time I'm in the area (a couple times a year.) Their Cheese Bread is out of this world good and the Swedish Doughnuts are to die for! The cafe is good, too, but keep in mind that it's the baked goods that really stand out in any meal you might order there.

This review is based simply on one item only, that I enjoyed from the bakery. I did not patronize the cafe. The bakery sells what is called a Swedish donut. I call it "a little pocket of heaven." It's hard to describe. It's a light, airy donut - almost like a croissant - with a cinnamon sugar mixture on the outside. Once you have one of these little pockets of perfection you'll want more. I'd like to know how to make these myself, so I can enjoy them more often.

This bakery is such a gem! We came in for breakfast and got a bogus donut as well as a strawberry rhubarb kolashe, soooo delicious. The spicy olive bread is amazing as well.

I have always loved this place, yesterday was a disappointment. The Bean burrito was dry, and tasted like yesterdays leftovers. The salsa they brought me was moldy. The fruit was old as well. So disappointed. I couldn't eat it, and it cost me too much money!

We visited on a balmy fall day in 2014 and our hearts were set on Swedish pancakes. So sad to see they weren't on the menu. But the cook whipped us each up a big plate full of them at request and they were to die for.The setting, tucked among indigenous and garden plants, was charming and we were serenaded by a guitarist playing and singing some mellow tunes. We'll be back.

Disgusting food, disgusting STAFF!Well this place is amazing if you love paying 50 dollars for a lunch that isn't satisfying. The sandwiches are just dry bread piled with even drier meat and cheese, all reheated in a microwave. The side dish wasn't even appealing to look at.Also the staff is terrible! I was so scared that if I said anything about my revolting plate of food the psychotic owner would come and yell at me. She needs to be institutionalized. Not only was her severe lack of mental help a burden on me, but you could tell it made the staff anxious. She was yelling at a poor employee who looked like she was 12. My server Lynn was hardly helpful. A waitress should do more than seat you.The cafe and bakery only accepts cash or check... This isn't the stone age. If you're going to make me pay 50 dollars for a crappy lunch, please don't have the audacity to charge me a 6 dollar atm fee.The kitchen is visible from where I was seated, I was entertained by the stupidity of the kitchen staff. They can't even function properly, where does the owner find these people? The kitchen was a MESS! I was appalled that an inspector let's them operate. To make matter's worse someone spilled bacon onto the floor, and I heard "Just pick it up before Colleen finds out." Eww. Let's just say my wife did not eat her side of bacon with her paper thin pancakes that taste like burnt rubber. Then after our meal we went to the bakery, there was a lady, probably 20 taking things out of a box and putting them on a tray! A BOX. They didn't even hide the fact that they're charging people a LOT for a home made bakery taste, when in actuality it's boxed cheap stuff. I'm sure buying a box of pastries from the original retailer would be less then buying one of they're "hand made pastries." They claimed the cupcakes were hand made, they looked like they were. The middle of my wives was frozen, and mine was disgustingly dry. Please think twice before entering this terrible establishment, I am still having traumatic nightmares. NEVER GOING THERE AGAIN!

Bogus is the key word here. Service was terrible. One of us ordered the lingonberry pancakes, even mentioned that "we" liked the berries, then when the food came out, there were no berries. When asked about it, the server said, "Oh, we don't have those." You think they could have said that before we ordered? Who does that? Who serves food and doesn't tell you they're missing key ingredients on the menu? The BLAT was bad. So plain, on small pieces of bread like English muffins, with hardly anything to really call a sandwich. The "sandwich" came with very little on it. In fact, 2 of us ordered the BLAT and didn't finish the meal. Yes, it was that disappointing.Three of us went hoping to have a nice day around the area and made this a point to have lunch. We will never go again.

Lovely garden, attentive staff, great bakery, and great location. Menu was limited for vegetarians but loved the fresh fruit with the meal as well as the bread and delicious butter!

Well Colleen, thank you for your patience just doesn't work when one sits for over 30 minutes waiting to be greeted. We gave you our name and you asked us to come back 30 minutes later because you were so busy, yet half of the tables were empty of guests. So we did; and you sat us inside like we asked and brought us a bread basket. At this point we should have know it was going to be bad, I have seen crutons larger then the scraps of bread you served us. You told us our server would be right with us. We sat and sat with no one helping us. There was around 10 tables inside and only 2 tables had people at them, and one was us. After 30 minutes we descided with our 2 young children we could not wait any longer to be waited on; and stood up to leave when Colleen came back over and said Thank you for your patience. Ther is something seriously wrong with that woman. When we explained no one even said hi to us, let alone get us water; she repeated, thank you for your patience again. All we could do was laugh and walk away, such a terrible place that could do so much better. Fall colors on a gorgeaous sunday and you have 2 waitresses and 1 cook, and half the place was empty. Avoid the wait and go somewhere else.
