We adopted our dog about a month ago. The shelter is run by wonderful people who clearly care for the animals there. We received regular communication throughout the adoption process, and they made sure we had everything necessary to get our girl all set up in her new home. They seem to know each of the dogs and their individual needs well. We highly recommend!

We adopted a small terrier about 1 year old from here many years ago when my kids were little. Was a terrier named her MissyMissy got congestive heart issues at 12 yrs old. She received medicine and lived to 18 years old. This place was a clean place with caring people. I'd adopt another dog from here. Looking for a Welsh terrier type poochie.

Went to look for another fur baby yesterday, boy has this place upgraded, really nice, was a little disappointed that we could see the dogs without an appointment, but I understand. Very excited at the possibilities, the director, amber was sooo nice and very knowledgeable about fur residents. Very nice experience.

My husband and I adopted Liam, who is now Carlos a 7 month old Chihuahua mix, he has adapted to our home so quickly! The shelter gave us a harness, leash and some food to get started. The process was so easy, and quick! Thank you M.C.A.S for all you do, and thank you for the new addition to our family!

Love the care they give the animals. Got my last dogs from them and would look to them first for my fur babes.

I have fostered for several rescues and shelters, and hands down Monroe County is my favorite. The quaint little shelter is made to be comfortable for the pups. The staff is beyond amazing. These folks talk and treat the dogs as if they were their own. Very dedicated group of people. Facility is clean and cozy.

Not sure who the older women is but she sure needs to know how to deal with people. She was rotten to us. dismissed me as if she knew anything about me when it came to a certain dog we were interested in adopting. Pretended to not have my application as it took the other person a sec to find. Told me I couldn't adopt that dog as it not an apartment type dog even tho I live in a house with a big yard. Claims I'm not active enough for a mixed pup. I have never been treated with such disrespect, I will look into another dog with another shelter. I don't recommend this place at all!

We had a wonderful experience with this shelter and we've had our dog for while now. The staff was super nice and very careful during Covid. They answered my emails and any questions we had.Thank you again for taking care of these pups and we would adopt from you again in the future.

Such a caring group of people working there who do a wonderful job finding the right fit for animals with their humans. So thankful to have people looking out for those who can't look out for themselves! Tillie and I love our new little sister! We really can't thank you enough!

They took my brother's dog of one year so she was a lil skinny and it's his ESA (emotional support animal) and do to the fact she is skinny they wonnt allow him to see her or anything and the employees are cocky and they are being rude as hell

One STAFF member ushered the 3 dogs we were looking at into their cages, seems like she doesn't want any of the dogs to be adopted, and was confrontational. This is not the first time I've heard of this i went to check the Monroe county shelter for myself.Very nice facility and the dogs looks happy and healthySad that people like that work with doggos in need, such a shame. She needs to be put in a cage. She was heftier, and racially discriminates. Check other reviews... not the first time.

These individuals work so hard to help people and their animals. To either adopt a new pet or to help with issues you may have with your own. They have many resources, and I'm so thankful this shelter exists.

This shelter cared for our little kitten when she was dropped off by a Good Samaritan after being found on the side of the road. They provided much needed medical care for her and found a foster home for her while she waited for her forever home. An employee connected us with her and the rest is history! We absolutely love our little doll of a cat and owe it to this shelter that she has found her family! Being primarily a dog shelter, they could easily turn away stray cats, but I have known them to care for and find homes for other cats in need as well. What a tough job they have and handle it with compassion and care, treating each animal as an individual and finding amazing homes for each adoptable and treatable animal walking through their doors. Thank you for connecting us with our newest and cutest little family member!

This is Lily. We adopted her last Friday. We had a great experience with the staff. Just wanted to post this pic because she just got groomed today. She looks like a different dog. Just love her to pieces.

Staff greeted us a bit awkwardly as though asking "who are you and why are you here". Conversation went politely though. They were not allowing guests due to COVID which changed date plans for my daughter and I - but is understandable.

They took in a beautiful English Shepherd that was a drop off at our farm. I hope she can find a good home.

They were nice a treated me good and they were very patient with me. I was 16 years old and went to get a puppy and they just got a litter in and there were 6 to choose from and they let me stay for about 2 hours. Well I picked out my puppy, a little black lab. They put "taken" on her kenal and I said I would be back Friday ( it was Wednesday) I had to bring my dad because I was under 18. Well when I got there Friday there was another couple there looking at dogs and I noticed that they were holding the dog that I picked out. Long story short the family was nice enough to give me the dog with out fighting but the idea is that they were going to give the dog away that I picked out and probably just put in one of the other black lab puppies because they all look the same.

They were able to take quite a bit of time with us. I'm sure it was probably to make sure they got a good fit for a dog we would like to adopt. Very professional

You won't find a group of more caring folks than these guys! They are terrific and beyond educated. The facility is always clean and smells that way! They truly do the work of angels; going above and beyond...I am at peace knowing the animals in their care will be loved and treated respectfully.

Wish I could give them a -5 ! Shelter claims that they only euthanize for "severe aggression, untreatable health or severe trauma ". Yet Mystique was none of those and was even on Petfinder available for adoption on the day they killed her. There's been atleast 5 more questionable kills since then.An employee quit in December because she could no longer tolerate Amber killing healthy, adoptable animals. This place needs their staff all removed and replaced with people that actually care about rehoming animals and no agendas!!

Awesome group of loving people that put the safety of the public and emotional and physical health of an animal before their own personal emotions. A truly difficult job and they all handle it with such grace and love.
