We were blown away by our stay! We were impressed by the attention to detail - from the decor/amenities, to asking us about any dietary restrictions, to the breakfast quality (it was a plus that the ingredients are locally sourced). Rooms were very comfortable and clean. Not to mention the location was ideal for walking to explore all that Sister Bay has to offer. Close enough to explore, but still within a quiet area for a restful sleep. Just perfect.

What an awesome hidden gem just off the main drag of Sister Bay. A must stop for a great lunch, and don’t forget about their amazing in! But if you can’t book a room, then support by swinging by for a drink and their amazing menu.A wonderful patio awaits you surrounded by pine and apple trees.Not only is this hidden gem a delicious place to eat, it is women owned and she is truly involved in every aspect of your experience.A wonderful must stop in Door County.Nearby activities: Just off the main drag of Sister Bay… so you can’t go wrong with a stay here.

We first visited the restaurant and bar multiple times before booking a stay at the B&B. Wow what a great experience. Colin and the entire team were so personable each time we came in and during our stay. Incredible attention to detail. Amazing atmosphere, fantastic food, and great drink selection in both alcohol and a whole NA list as well. Each year we look forward to coming back.And if they have the cauliflower wings on the menu when you’re there you’ve gotta get them! So good!!!!!!

My girlfriend and I came to visit from MKE and had a great time! Colin and Sarah are fully invested in providing the best experience for their visitors.Rooms and common areas are well kept and you wake up to the best breakfast in Door County each morning! We stayed in the Backpacker room, which was a bit on the snug side and when coming back I would pay a few more bucks to stay in a larger room. Overall, a great place and will stay here anytime I visit Door County in the future!

This delightful Inn & Kitchen is the best version of a bed & breakfast I've encountered!! The rooms are adorable (even better in person) and comfortable, including the mattress and pillows. The common areas are quaint but totally cozy. They have complimentary cold beverages (or hot). And the breakfast is completely scrumptious! Not to mention, they take note of any dietary needs...I mean, really? Sara and Colin have truly thought of everything. Plus, they're a joy to talk with and have all the best reccomendations.I say, do not pass up on this home away from home.Walkability: Near everything downtown and near the water. A short drive to all the best nearby tourist spots.Dietary restrictions: Gluten-free, dairy-free accommodations.

Wow. First time eating here and we were blown away. Great ambiance…rustic, comfortable, welcoming…the minute you walk in, you feel just good. The game was on, which was 👍🏼. Great menu. Everything we ordered was delicious. Will absolutely come back. ((Fantastic vegan options- where you have to be told it’s vegan or you wouldnt know it!!)) and great gluten free options as well!!

Decided to choose the Roots Inn in Sister Bay, Door County for my 45th birthday location and I’m sure glad I did. They had a very easy check in process, we were greeted and handed the keys to our room, given a specifics about our room and the property and told that breakfast will be served promptly at 8:30-9:30 am the following morning. I truly enjoyed the property and the decor, it is a historic site so that was very interesting to get to experience staying in a piece a property that had been renovated that is a part of the history of the town. We were able to drink anything out of the refrigerator which included water soda and an assortment of alcoholic beverages. We decided to sit on the screened in porch and play some cards while enjoying a beverage before we headed out for dinner at LURE, a nice seafood and steak place just two blocks away from the BNB, so convenient!!! The morning after, we arrived for breakfast, we were served a squash and zucchini bake with breakfast potatoes and heirloom tomatoes vegan Parmesan with some kind of herb lemon dressing topped with a fried egg, on the side there were sliced apples and pears for palate cleansing. I was very impressed and I look forward to visiting them again in the future.Rooms: Our room was the water room, very nicely decorated and very clean. Absolutely loved it!!!Nearby activities: Lots of nearby restaurants and bars within very easy walking distance

I couldn’t believe I had never heard of Roots with all the years I’ve been coming up to the Door. The B&B is so cute and cozy & the location is clutch! We only had the complementary breakfasts since we were guests but we definitely want to come back to try everything on the lunch menu. Everything we ate was delicious, fresh and local. Colin and Sarah have a great thing going, you gotta check it out!

My wife and I LOVED our stay here!! Even as non vegans, they were able to provide meals that were absolutely delicious!! Just tell them your likes/dislikes/allergies and let them surprise you. The rooms are quaint, comfortable, and clean. Extremely friendly people and very accommodating!! Great location right in the heart of Sister Bay. They even helped us find a ride to Sturgeon Bay when my car needed to be towed!! Thanks guys, we'll be back!!

My wife and I travel to Door County a couple times/year and Roots Inn and Kitchen is by far the best place we've stayed! The rooms are very clean and a unique hot breakfast is included each morning. Our only regret was not eating lunch here also, but will be sure to during our next stay! Roots is located in Sister Bay, the heart of Door County and central to most activities. Owners Collin and Sara are great. They spend time getting to know you and provide recommendations for activities and other food/drink options around Door County. Thanks for a great weekend!

What a wonderful restaurant! I went for lunch and got the loaded brat, which was Pad Thai themed (it changes regularly!). It was incredible! The server was awesome and the atmosphere was relaxing. Definitely recommend checking this place out for lunch! The one downside is that they didn't have paper menus and I didn't have cell service so I had to get up to see the menu - not a huge deal for me, but something to keep in mind!

My friend and I stayed here during our trip to door county. Everything about this place is amazing from hospitality to food to rooms. They have a variety of vegan options. Colin and Sara are extremely accommodating and great at recommending good spots for hiking, swimming, and just touring overall. Which totally made our trip better. If I could give this place >5 stars I would, and the next time we visit door county this will be our go to spot

My hubby and I came here for lunch and it was absolutely delicious!! As a vegan I appreciate all of the options. The food is flavorful and you can tell the owners really pay attention to detail with the dishes. The broccoli wings were quite possibly the best vegan appetizer I’ve ever had. Such a cute place too. Highly highly recommend!!

My husband and stayed here earlier in October of this year for our honeymoon! Collin and Sara were wonderful hosts. They're very accommodating, were excited to celebrate with us, and were great at local recommendations for things to do and places to eat! Before we even left we were already excited to discuss the next time we could come back to stay with them. The room was cozy and comfortable and the breakfast was by the far the best food we had on our trip! Best place to stay in Sister Bay, for sure! We stayed at Roots for two nights and it was 100% exceptional. Their breakfast is home cooked, different and fresh every day and most importantly, IT IS DELICIOUS. Sarah and Collin are such wonderful hosts. They know the area so well and are very personable and kind. During our stay in Door county we ate at expensive and fancy restaurant and both had to agree that lunch and breakfast at Roots was our favorite.Sister Bay is a great location as it's close to everything!the rooms are clean and wonderfully unique. The beds are comfy and you'll get a good night sleep as the inn is away from the road. This will be our go to place for every stay in Door County!

I almost hate to give a five star review and comment on my stay at Roots Inn. Because once people find out about this hidden gem in Sister Bay, they will definitely want to stay there and eat there too!Colin and Sarah are the perfect host and hostess! Sweet dreams are almost guaranteed in their cozy bedrooms and the breakfast that is included in your stay is amazing, and made from all locally sourced ingredients. The food in the restaurant is fantastic and includes a wide variety of vegetarian and vegan dishes. If I could gove them 10 stars I would- thank you Colin and Sarah!

My wife and I stayed here during a conference in the area. Since we had to be out the door before the scheduled breakfast Collin and Sara made us breakfasts to go each day and the meals were amazing!!! We wish we could have made it back to town for a lunch in the kitchen because the food was just that good! The backpack room was small but cozy and comfortable for us. We will definitely stay here again!!!

Having a home town connection to Sara and Collin (the owners of the B&B) is what got us interested in checking out Roots Inn and Kitchen. We had heard great things but wanted to experience it for ourselves, and we could not be happier that we did!From the second we walked into our cozy "home" for the weekend, we were instantly charmed by the decor, pictures from Sara and Collin's travel experiences, and other personal touches they incorporated into the Inn. The hospitality was incredible, and we felt so welcome during our stay. The food was out-of-this-world, made fresh with local ingredients, and truly some of the best breakfast we have ever had. The tasty scones waiting at the table for us every morning were a great touch, too!We loved Sister Bay, and Roots Inn & Kitchen's location is perfect, just a short walk to all the local establishments, including great restaurants, bars, and shops. It's also a short drive to other towns and fun things to do in Door County. Sara & Collin are a great resource and happy to provide suggestions for things to do in Sister Bay and surrounding areas.If you're looking for a place to stay for a Door County getaway, look no further! You will be so happy with your choice to stay at Roots Inn & Kitchen. We are already planning our trip to come back next year!

YES! Stay here! Thank you, Collin & Sara — we loved our stay! When we arrived, Collin & Sara welcomed us with a local brew plus a friendly intro to the Roots Inn and the Sister Bay area. Our room was clean, quiet and comfortable. Breakfast was served on the porch both mornings and was excellent. Collin listened to what we wanted to do in the Door County area and then provided spot-on suggestions for our activities. We had a wonderful visit — definitely recommend.

This was our second stay at Roots after discovering it last year. We will definitely return again. It’s a quaint inn with very comfortable and relaxing accommodations. The hosts, Collin and Sara, are most gracious and welcoming. The welcome drink on the nice deck was a great way to relax after our drive to Door County. We had a wonderful restful night and enjoyed a delicious breakfast in the morning. Highly recommend a stay at the Roots Inn and a beer or lunch at the Roots Kitchen!!

We LOVED Roots Inn and Kitchen! Sarah and Collin were such wonderful hosts. The bed and breakfast itself was trendy and comfortable for a weekend stay in Sister Bay. The location was walking distance to anything in town! Every morning, Sarah and Collin had a beautiful and delicious plated breakfast for us! My husband and I received a 2 night gift certificate as a Christmas gift from our kids and in June we used it. After only one night we booked another night and stayed for 3. It was a wonderful weekend getaway!! The room was cozy and the bed so comfortable. In the morning you cant wait to get up and go down to an amazing breakfast. The food is fantastic. Great way to start the day. The location is perfect so close to everything. Collin and Sarah are great hosts. My fiancée and I stayed in the cottage room for two nights and had a great time. The room was clean, decorated well and very comfortable.The breakfasts included in a reservation were really good. If you’re not reserving a room I’d recommend them for lunch.The location is also very convenient for shopping or traveling to a state park or hiking trail.

Amazing rooms, building, and breakfast that is to die for.We loved it so much we booked our next stay before we even left.You also cannot beat the location right in Sister Bay.Cannot recommend this place enough!

We stayed there in June for 3 nights. The breakfast out on the lovely patio was my favorite part. The room was comfortable if a little small, but that makes sense for a historic building. The decor on the ground floor of the inn was cute. The owners had good suggestions for activities around Door County.

After reading many raving reviews, my husband and I decided to stay at the Roots Inn and Kitchen to celebrate our anniversary. We are glad we did! From the moment we walked in, we felt welcome. The Inn is intimate with a hip vintage chic vibe. It's located just around the corner from the Sister Bay downtown. The room itself felt cozy, was immaculate, and the bathroom was recently renovated and was stocked with delicious smelling soaps and toiletries. The owners, Sara and Collin, are friendly and down to earth. They are extremely knowledgeable about the area...we were new to Door County, so that was helpful. The breakfast was delicious, too. If you are looking for a place that is authentic and unique, vintage and cozy, relaxed and friendly, I recommend the Roots Inn highly!

The Roots Inn and Kitchen in Sister Bay was an exceptional get-a-way for me and my husband! We loved the location, close to the water, shops and nightlife! The breakfasts were exceptional, we ended up coming back for lunch because we knew it was the best lunch menu in town! The decore and atmosphere is perfect and Collin and Sara had suggestions and awesome recommendations of things to do in the area! We will definitely be back and can't wait to bring friends with us to also enjoy this Door County gem!
