Stayed here recently with my significant other and had a fantastic experience. The guy at the front desk (forget his name) was incredibly kind and welcoming. The room was perfectly clean and updated, we had a whirlpool and a fireplace which was very nice. Two outdoor fireplaces were lit each night on the grounds - which were also well kept. The building itself is very easy to find and very clean and modern. I would highly recommend and encourage people to stay here.

Absolute beautiful stay. Arrived around 9pm and immediately upon arrival felt hotel was a very safe environment. Well lit parking lot with fires going outside gave it a welcoming and luxurious feel. Staff was extremely welcoming and friendly. One of the nicest hot tubs I have been in! And complimentary breakfast to top it off.Safety: Felt very safe for young couple!

Absolute gem of a place to stay in Door County. The fenced in dog area was such a bonus. The fire pits were always blazing adding to the nice country view. The room was very comfortable and clean. The owner is so nice and welcoming. We got a bonus of live music one night and she was incredible. Great amenities, great vibes, great place. Even the short wooded walk out back was adorable and lovely.

This place was an absolute gem!!! Such a welcoming and cozy environment. This was my first time here but talking to others staying there who have been lifelong goers, it continues to be an amazing place to stay and continues to be clean, updated, and awesome service. The owner and his daughter were great to interact with. They have a dog designated side of the hotel with fenced in play area. I stayed on the non dog side and never even noticed dogs there! I will be bringing my doggy next time tho! I am so impressed with this place I can’t wait to come back.Rooms: Clean! Quality! Comfy beds! Everything was put into place perfectly.Nearby activities: Close restaurants, shops, and bars. Also easy access to all the hiking spots!Noteworthy details: Clean!!! Amenities were awesome. Outdoor bonfires, pool, fitness center, hot tub. Dog friendly if needed with a fenced in dog area and shower station for the dogs. Breakfast, snacks, 24/7 coffee, great hospitality.

We can't say enough good things about Open Hearth! We recently stayed here and had a hotel block for our wedding. John and his family were so accommodating and helpful leading up to the weekend and during our stay. He also allowed us to utilize the dining space for "welcome drinks" with guests the night before our wedding, which was so fun and convenient for us. The hotel itself was very nice, cozy, quiet, and clean. We also absolutely LOVED all the amenities for dogs, as our dog is a very important part of our family and also needed to be with us since she was in our wedding. We received so many compliments about the lodge from our guests as well. We'll definitely be back!

Awesome lodge in a perfect location in Door County!The owner lives on site and clearly puts a tremendous amount of care and effort into the place. There was a fire pit, live music, and they have a snack station and pizza oven!The room was very clean - lush towels, super nice updated flooring in the entry/bathroom area, darkening window shades that actually cover all the light, ginormous TV that had extra sports channels. The furniture was good quality and everything seemed like it had been updated pretty recently. Great WIFI.I did not encounter any problems during my stay but I'm confident that if I did, the owner would have taken care of it!

Very much enjoyed our stay. We had a King room. Very nice setup. Lovely staff. Cozy homey feel. Exceptionally clean. Beautiful yard with outdoor fire pits. Bright inside with large windows. They thought of everything! The hot tub wasn't very hot- but that would be the only thing I wasn't impressed with. Otherwise everything else met or exceeded my expectations! 👍🏼 Will definitely return again.

This property is a little gem. The room had plenty of room, the bed is very comfortable, the pool was clean and nice size and the breakfast was fantastic with lots of options.My favorite part was the beautiful outdoor space with bbq and fire pits. They have several fire pits throughout the property.What a perfect way to end a fall evening!Will definitely stay again!

Large dog-friendly hotel! I've never seen a hotel with a fenced-in dog park and a dog bathing station!The room was large (hot tub room), window visible for the dog, plenty of places to sit with the couch and king size bed, extra bedding in room already, fridge and microwave which is becoming more standard now but they were nice. Large smart TV, was able to access Amazon prime video (free wifi)!Overall a very pretty hotel with great accommodations.Only problem with a dog-friendly hotel is people with untrained, uncontrolled dogs. Lots of noise from upstairs and barking in hallway. I'd suggest bringing a white-noise machine like we always bring when we travel. Once we had that on max volume we were able to get to sleep easily.My only complaint about the room itself is how bright that blue thermostat light is.. I couldn't find a way to turn it off so I had to hang a shirt over it every night. Not a big deal but something like a hinged door over it or optional cover would help.We will return here for sure.

This is my #1 choice for lodging for large groups visiting Door County. My family and I enjoyed a night away from home in Sturgeon Bay and stayed at Open Hearth; we’ve concluded that we need to come back for some R&R because it’s absolutely wonderful.The service is more than you could hope for, every member of staff is kind, and you feel like you’re with family. Very clean, well organized, love that you can buy wine/pizza/soda etc. perfect location for year round visits. Just a couple minutes drive from the center of Sister Bay and Ephraim, it’s the perfect location. Highly recommend!

Hotel is centrally located in Sister Bay. Management is exceptional - welcoming, personable. Rooms are roomy and clean - have refrigerators, microwaves, coffeemakers. Nice breakfast included with stay. Has swimming pool, sauna, whirlpool, workout room, games and puzzles to use while there, comfortable lobby common room with fireplace. Pets welcome - great enclosed area for dogs, walking trail, outdoor firepit, play area for kids, out door grills.

We loved our stay at Open Hearth! The room was clean and cozy. You can tell they recently did some updates and redesign and it looks great. Everyone was really friendly. I would 150% stay here again.Nearby activities: So close to lots of shops and dining. it was a really great location to get to all of the towns.

This was our first time staying at Open Hearth Lodge and we liked it so much we booked it with our family to come next summer. We were impressed with the friendly service at the front desk, especially Tina and John, the owner. The grounds are spacious and beautiful with many amenities to enjoy. The room was clean and towels were easy to obtain by putting a bag outside our room with the used towels to be replaced with clean ones. It was a quiet stay even though the lodge was full. It is dog friendly, at one section of the lodge, and we were never disturbed by them. We highly recommend the Open Hearth and advise a virtual tour on the website.

I was at Open Hearth Lodge to watch a baptism so I never saw the rooms or interacted with the staff. I don't know what temperature the water was, but the pool was clean and there were big windows that let in a lot of light. It was nice of the owners to let our church use their pool for the baptism. It was mid-November, so it would have been way too cold for the baptism to be done in the bay!

Stayed during the holidays. Rooms were nice, breakfast was bare minimum.Went because it was dog friendly.Turned out it was like trying 2 sleep in a dog kennel. Throw in some fibs with 2 dogs and 2 little kids runs back and forth till 1 amAbove us. Will never go back!

Very nice stay there 7/12 - 7/16/23! Family run (John-owner, brother Jordan & son, Jack). Friendly & accommodating - it was like going back in time to good customer service. Loved the large grass outdoor area, playground, patio, fire pits, pool, hot tub & fitness room. Great place for a large group. Continental breakfast had good choices. Also, loved the "honor system" for snacks & drinks. Will definitely stay here again!!!

I just recently stayed here with my Fiancé and I was shocked at how pleasant this place was. It’s hard to imagine that Google listed this as a 2 star hotel cause we got a 5 star stay. The rooms were clean and the staff extremely friendly. We had a king room with the whirlpool, which exceeded our expectations. 10/10 we are going to come again for our anniversary. This place is off the charts in terms of being dog friendly. The rooms are awesome for humans too, very clean and well equipped. I wish that I could give them 6 stars. The “dog wing” of the property is only two years old and everything is new and in excellent condition. Attention to detail was outstanding. Best hotel everThis hotel IS THE BEST for dogs like my dog prim. They have a huge play area for dogs and after you play your dog can wash up too wash up in the washroom. The washroom has a place to give your dog a bath after a good play time. the pool is great for kids, it provides pool noodle to play or float around with plus I has a luxurious hot tub/spa. They have great and friendly service like the manager was super nice and gave us all the info we needed to locate stuff in this hotel. The rooms are very good to it provides our family with lots of appliances such as a microwave, freezer, coffee maker, and sink. They make everything look so good and Thank you
