This clinic was amazing. My cat was so sick, couldn't keep anything down, i was worried to say the least. They were able to get him in, get him the help he needed and he is on his way to feeling much better. They definitely have become a place that i feel comfortable with caring for my feline babies. Very greatful they were able to take care of my cat, Mr. Buoy! He thanks you too!

My husband and I are traveling cross country with our two cats. We assumed that if we had any issues with them, we could take them to a virtual or emergency vet for care. What we did not anticipate is one of our cats dislodging a tooth - which is apparently not something the emergency vet handles.I stumbled on Northern Door and they said they could get him in the next day. Not only did they immediately remove the problem tooth, but they were able to bring him in three days later for a full dental cleaning and "mouth fix." My little guy is doing SO. MUCH. BETTER.Everyone at Northern Door is friendly and obviously loves the animals they see. They were able to make a super stressful situation bearable and patiently answered my 9 billion questions about the exam, anesthesia, and everything else around my cat's care. Words cannot express how strongly I'd recommend them to anyone looking for a caring place to bring their cat. And - bonus - the office is super cute, too!I wish we could pack them up and take them on the road with us.

Pretty disappointed in this vet clinic. My dog has been a patient her whole life. Even when I moved 4 hours away I still kept this as my dog's go-to clinic for shots, dentals, everything. I never took my dog anywhere else. Last year, in order to sign a new apartment lease, they needed her vaccines to be updated. I did not have an opportunity to drive 4 hours to her normal vet before I was required to sign my lease. So, in a pinch, I brought her to the closest animal hospital and got her vaccines updated. While at that vet, they told me she had stage 3 dental disease and needed to be seen by her home vet. When I called Northern Door Pet Clinic to loop them in and get her scheduled, they refused to see her simply because I had taken her to another vet. Like she is now tainted. Because I had an emergency situation. So, now I'm forced to find a new vet for my 9 year old dog after being able to depend on Northern Door Pet Clinic for almost a decade. The worst part about this is my parents still take THEIR dogs here just fine. But they'll refuse to see mine. In the end, this just hurts the dog and goes to show they don't really care about their patients. It's a shame that Door County only has this one vet clinic because the people and their dogs up there deserve so much better in terms of care and service. Smh.

Dr. Franke and her staff are kind and compassionate. Wonderful practitioners! My two cats were given first class treatment today. The facility is clean, spacious, and beautiful. I really liked the dog + cat tapestries in the reception area! As a full-timer in Door Co., I’m pleased to have such a pleasant veterinary facility near my home. Thank you!

I gave this “business” five stars because I have brought my animals there ever since they opened and received very good care most of the time. They have new policies that state you are only considered a “client” is you bring your pet in every year and that leads to over vaccination, they would only treat dogs 40 pounds and under, and now they are not accepting any new dogs at all.It doesn’t matter how many of your pets you have brought for care in the past, the one who writes the checks is not thought of as the client. If you have an emergency, the animal is suffering and needs to be humanely euthanized and they have not seen your animal on a yearly basis, you will be SOL and told to drive the animal an hour and a half to Green Bay.On that note I update my review to one star. I would give it less if I could. RIP Trailer.

This clinic team is very professional and caring. Dr. Carrie is in high demand, so don’t expect to just walk in, but expect quality care with reasonable prices. Just like every business in northern door county, there are not enough professionals to cover the influx of tourist business. Be patient, be kind, be respectful and they will take care of your pet family to the best of their ability. Excellent service with them for more than 15 years.

Absolutely no compassion for emergency care. Was out on hike in Newport with my dog who suffered some type of seizure or episode. We rushed to the nearest clinic which was this one. I walked in with my dog and explained was emergency, the 2 staff sitting at counter with not a single other person in waiting room and they told me that they do not see walk ins. I asked even in an emergency? They flatly said no and told me to take her to the nearest emergency center in Green Bay which is about a 1.5 hour drive from there. Obviously they feel no ethical or moral obligation to see an emergency patient, even when not even a customer in the parking lot! We drove our dog another 30 minutes to Sturgeon Bay to Door Co Vet Hospital who was busy but worked her in and gave great compassionate care. How can you practice in a remote rural area and flatly refuse to see emergency walk ins even when not busy? Horrible.

Dr. Carrie has been the vet for our 3 cats and 2 dogs in Door County for the last 20 years, 2 of whom she cared for over 16 years of their lives, and all of whom, ending with this fall, she has been the one to help out of their misery and us to say goodbye to them. Beyond her medical knowledge Carrie has well-honed instincts that have helped us make best decisions possible for our furry family members, and at the end of their lives has shown the utmost compassion for both them and for us.To those who travel with pets to Northern Door and are unfamiliar with the clinic’s policies about new clients, emergency calls, pet size, clinic hours, etc. the onus would seem to be on you to check out (online, by phone) ahead of time who and what is available to care for your pet, especially for potential emergency situations. There are other veterinary clinics in the area, including with after hours/emergency services.Note: Since summer of 2020, when I wanted to bring in my newly adopted rescue pup for semi-emergency care, I learned that Dr. Carrie was no longer accepting new canine patients even from existing clients, in order to focus solely on felines.

We were very fortunate that this clinic would see our sick kitty. We were traveling in our motorhome and he was having a problem urinating. We called Monday morning and they were able to see him ASAP. He was treated and is recovering. Only negative was that the Doctor never spoke directly to us, all was relayed through the front desk and the fee for the exam was $110. plus labs, meds, etc. I felt as if we were charged a high amount because of being a transient patient, however, we were thankful to be seen, as all other vets referred us to Green Bay (1.5 hours away).

Very nice and concerned people. Had to call on a Saturday Fourth of July weekend and Dr. Carrie was happy to take my call and spend some time on the phone. Brought our dog in the next Wednesday and they did the blood work right there. Found out he had some kind of liver ailment and with meds and the can dog food she gave us he started being his normal self in a couple of days after being a sick puppy (of 11 1/2). Still is on the mend but is doing well. Thank you!!!

They refused to put my very senior kitty to sleep that my friend is currently watching with my other pets while I’m working 7 hours away even with my permission. My sweet old guy had a stroke and can no longer walk well and has become incontinent. He shouldn’t have to suffer because I'm not there. I certainly cannot recommend a clinic that will allow an animal to suffer because he isn’t a current patient and I’m far away.

My lab had an allergic reaction to a bug bite and her face blew up like a chow! We were camping in the Rowleys Bay area. I called on a Saturday evening and was told by the vet that she had just finished up at the clinic with some of her clients and that since my dog was not a client she wouldn't see her. I was told to go to the Green Bay Animal Emergency Center. When I told her that I didn't know if my dog would make it, she didn't care! After an hour and 41 minute drive my dog was seen in Green Bay and they rushed her in for immediate care. My dog survived the emergency situation... but could've been seen in less than 20 minutes by a local vet. Someone without compassion shouldn't be in this line of work!

As seasonal residents of Northern Door County, we have used this vet occasionally over the past several years, including for the heartbreaking euthanasia of one family dog. It has always been hard to get an appointment, but his time I just needed a little follow-up to some surgery a dog had last week in Green Bay. Apparently they don't need new dog patients I was told, so I will be traveling to Green Bay from Gills Rock for a 2 minute appointment. I'm from Texas and we have fine Veterinary Schools down there and just opened a new one. I would suggest Wisconsin do the same thing too. The veterinary Guild has held down artificially the number of entrants into their vet programs in many states across the Nation. Incidentally Texas also has the same problem. You need more vets up here Wisconsin. Or you will be subject to the same uncaring arrogant attitude I just experienced at this vet in Sister Bay I. You need more vets Wisconsin. If you don't find a way to get more vets into the field then you end up with a whole bunch of small animal vets who don't give a damn about taking a new patient.

In Door County and tried this clinic for the 2nd time. First time, one of our pointers had an encounter with a porcupine. They refused to see our dog. 2nd time, we forgot some medication for our other pointer, and called to inquire if we could get enough to get us through the weekend. Again, they refused to assist. Who would go to this clinic? Ten thumbs down!

Called for help with dog’s ear infection. Was told that they were not accepting new patients. I said I am not a new patient but a vacationer with a need. Was told to drive to Green Bay. I heave never been turned away from a vet or doctor with an urgent ask for help. How shameful and unprofessional.

The front desk person was absolutely rude and not helpful at all. Vet version of the Soup Nazi. Our dog was sick and would not even deal with our home vet for rx. You need to get rid of that desk person with the horn rimmed glasses. Having flashbacks of her nasty facial expressions and rude comments!

Get a new Vet in Northern Door that can see all animals. Carrie needs to retire or get new Veterinarian. Ridiculous.

We have never had an animal doctor pay this much attention or be involved this much. We're so thankful for this type of care. Especially for where we live. Thank you! Can't recommend enough.
