Stopped in there today. I've been here many times over the years. It was one of my mom's favorites. We lost our mom a little over a year ago. Just opening the door took me a minute. Then the smell brought back so many memories. End of a shopping day. We had the kindest waitress. We ordered my moms favorite the Italian cheese fries. Just as I remembered them. I did everything to not cry I was sure that sweet waitress would have been so confused. We will be back prob every year for my mom's bday. Ty to the sweet waitress we didn't eat much took most to go.

Was here with me mum niece and sister. And close friends. They no longer live here in WI and cheese fries are not found outside of Wisconsin. (Not real cheese fries) and Papillons is the #1 best choice for some pizza fries (Italian fries) absolutely love this place and I could eat it every day. The staff, the environment, everything is outstandingly good vibes. Love the food. Great place for the best pizza fries. I can’t say enough good about this restaurant.

25 yrs ago & 400 miles away after showing the hotel mgr where I'm from-he was telling me how great Papillon's is(I already knew that). Had the deluxe pizza,wow!;-last night & they are still living up to their reputation,delicious & large qty for the price,that sauce is just totally awesome,looks like xtra cheese without ordering extra. Definitely coming back!!🧐😋😋 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🥇🍕🏆

i’ve never been to this restaurant before. I ordered food to pick up. I picked up my order and was called back by the restaurant about three minutes later stating that they gave me cheese curds instead of Italian cheese bread. they wanted me to bring back the cheese curds, which were in my car, not knowing really the safety. They took the cheese curds back and gave it to the people they were supposed to, the food I had was a chicken taco salad that was the worst taco salad I have ever had. They also stated that they were known for their Italian cheese bread. It was terrible. It’s bread with some mozzarella cheese on it and that’s it. I do not recommend this restaurant. It really makes me question the quality/safety. what type of restaurant would give somebody the wrong food and expect you to bring it back and then not knowing what happened once I picked it up, took it back and gave it to some other customers after it had been in my car.

Their food is terrible the pizza size is good but very thin and dry no flavored had the mac and cheese pizza and barely any mac and cheese and actual cheese just not good, there cinnamon knows were very hard and very hard to chew and their canolis were very hard shell with very few chocolate chips overall the food was bad. Wouldn't recommend it

Stopped for lunch today I had their Rueben sandwich which was good while my husband had Special of the day sandwich that had fried onions and mushrooms on it, that he really enjoyed we had started off with cheese curds for an appetizer that were delicious. My Rueben had the typical fatty pieces of corned beef that I trimmed off (I’m picky).

Not terrible but we will not be returning. We got the cordon blu pizza and Italian fries. I can't belive I am saying such a thing, specifically in Wisconsin, but there was to much cheese on both. Other photos don't show as much cheese so maybe it was just ours that day.. It tasted okay but 15 minutes after leaving it felt like we had a bowling ball in our gut. Overall no variety of flavor on either the pizza or fries, not bad, just not good. The chicken on the pizza was essential just a plain baked chicken breast. We are glad we tried the place out, but we won't be returning. Service was fine, however it wasn't busy.

I visited this quaint, classic schofield favorite for lunch with my family and was not impressed with my order. I ordered a gyro with the kettle chips. The lamb meat felt rubbery and artificial, definitely not the texture of quality meat. The pita bread was oddly tough like biting into an oven mit. They definitely give you a decent portion for the price but I always say quality over quantity. The kettle chips that were served along with it were quite tasty and were adequately seasoned. My entoruage of relatives all ordered burgers, they all looked delectable and the buns were all toasted and buttered. I'd say that I would go again to try one of their burgers. After my experience, the food I was served was mediocre at best but I wouldn't be opposed to going again and ordering one of their specialties.

Decent service but waiter only stopped by once and asked only my nephew if he would like a refill. Food was a little on the greasy side but good considering what we ordered. I would definitely go back a second time.

The pizza fries are great! They are completely covered in cheese. The days for them is very good. Completely you'll get full fast. Had the lasagna out was very good as well. Make sure you have a very big appetite before going there. And if you leave not completely full that's your fault.

Lived in Wausau for several years in the mid 80's. What the heck happened to the Italian fries??? They used to be buttery, soft and so yummy. Never got them with the gobs of cheese. Last time we got them they were bad, hard dried up pieces of pizza dough, not buttery, and not wrapped up in the foil like before. We are 120 miles away now but we're passing through Wausau and decided to give them another try. So disappointed. I asked for them to have extra butter and they gave me an extra container of garlic butter for the dry dough. Will never stop again, somehow you forgot how to make Italian fries, they are just a memory from the past now.

As always the Italian fries are awesome.. I had a Friday Fish Fry baked cod and it was amazing.. the twice baked potatoes were yummy! The waitress was very good, we had a large party of 15.

Italian fries with cheese (with extra sauce) might seem like a staple to some locals, but if you aren't getting it at Papillon's, you're definitely missing out! It was so delicious tonight! Absolutely loaded with mozzarella! Why don't I go here more often? I know all of their pizzas are great and tonight we ventured out to try The Bullfighter, essentially a taco pizza. Add some sour cream and their taco sauce and... yum! Service was quick, friendly, and attentive. I guess I should be glad more people don't frequent this hidden gem.

What has happened? For thirty years the pizza and Italian fries were the best in the area, less sauce and flavor to the pizza and now there's no garlic seasoning on the fries.Quite the let down after driving 1100 miles

Wonderful place with very yummy pizza options! We had the fried pickles and they were much like Lee's chicken ones, but I would say a little bit better. Not as greasy. But a really good taste of breading and pickle. The cheese fries we're extremely good with plenty of cheese. The deal they have on Tuesdays with a large pizza selling for the same price as a small, is a SUPER GOOD DEAL. High quality ingredients with fairly prices meals. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone in the area for some amazing cheesy Wisconsin-like pizza!!
