The hotel itself is decent. You can tell they renovated some areas, while others are still from the 90’s. The rooms are nice sized, bathroom was extremely dated, and the couch in the room was not clean- we completed avoided it. The bed was comfortable and clean. Breakfast was extremely basic but it was ok. It’s an econo lodge, so it’s great on your wallet. Overall it was just ok.

We had car issues at 11pm and needed a place to stay until we got our car fixed. We were passing through only and needed two rooms. The receptionist was able to find us two rooms that were next to each other, although no connecting doors. She also gave us a discount to help us in this unplanned, overnight stay. The room had a smell, but it looked very clean so we don't know where the smell was coming from. They do have a sign that pets are allowed so I'm assuming it's smell from pets. I do not own any pets.Safety: Parking lot was well-lit.Walkability: Small shopping center with grocery store nearby.Food & drinks: There's a grocery store within walking distance and there's also fast food restaurant across the street.

We had put the do not disturb sign on the door 2 different times. This time our room was clearly entered and tampered with our stuff was moved and not where we had set them. The first time the had woken us up. I would have to amend this only to say that this place is not ok they saw mine and my friends review asked us to take it down or they would be kicking us out and not let us stay there again good riddance for all I say there are much better places to stay and spend your money I would give 0 stars if I could.

My fiance stayed here while we visited Wausau in Jan 2024. The bed in room 101 was a bit hard, and there were some marks on the floor, but otherwise it was a good visit.We were disappointed to see that there was no Gideon bible in the room anywhere. I would encourage the local staff, connect with the Wausau gideons and get some Bibles for each of the rooms. It can be an encouragement for someone who is depressed, and having a hard time in life. Thanks.

Stayed here for an evening while in town for work. The property is very close to the convention center and rooms are half the cost than the convention center connected hotel.The rooms are a bit older, however they are clean and the bed was comfortable and those are the most important things I look for from a budget hotel.At the front desk I noticed a "guest mail" stand, so I'm assuming there are long term occupants at this hotel, though I didn't really see anyone as I came and left. I also didn't see anyone loitering around outside or in the lobby so that was good. The outside doors locked tight and overall was a very quiet weekend night.Also no weird smells! I've stayed in several budget places that just smelled awful so again this place really was a pleasant surprise.I didn't try the breakfast or pool so can't comment other than they exist.

Location was convenient. Room STUNK. Thank God the window on the second floor opened. When we got to the hotel, I had to pick up a phone for someone to come out and help me after standing in the lobby for 10 minutes. Bed sheets do not seem clean. There are black specks everywhere. Nothing smells clean. Would not recommend. I feel dirty just sitting in the room, and even worst walking in the bathroom. I cannot wait to leave in the morning.

Very well maintained, and clean upon arrival to the hotel. The staff are very helpful and friendly.Nearby activities: There are so many places close by, like The Bar, grocery, other places to eat out. And the highway is close in case if you'd need to go into or out of town!Walkability: It is modestly walkable, though traffic is usually busy around the area.

I really like this Econo Lodge, it’s got vending, breakfast, a pool and even a courtyard with a grill. It’s reasonably priced and decent architecture. Only drawback is no elevators. Will gladly come back here again when I’m in Wausau overnight.Update: Same great stay and place, only drawback is chilly pool and no ATM, still no too bad priced even with the new deposit policy. Handy location.

We had prices set at $70 per night for a wedding. I had to get 3 rooms. Not knowing how long we were staying and the rooms were to be saved for July 27 through July 30. We had to book before July 15 to get the price.So I booked 2 rooms for the 27,28 and 29. Then booked another room for the 27 and 28. We all ended up leaving do to unforeseen circumstances on the 28. We checked out before checkout time which was 11am. Bill came to $715.05. Called them about it and the only thing they would tell me is I checked out 1 day early so the rooms were not cleaned in order to be used by others. They never cleaned the rooms when we were there and they only clean them after you leave. The pool stunk of sour water and the hot tub was no hot. So didn’t try them. I myself will never stay at another Econo lodge ever due to my experience at this one. I had a couple that told me they have been there for a month! A month! I was like wow. Offered help with their broke truck. I couldn’t imagine what their room looked like. Now they are applying 3 more charges of $79.45 so I had to freeze my card with Capital one and file a complaint with them as well. As well as my daughters cleaning their room themselves and putting it in the hallway for the cleaning crew which saw them do it. Very sad place to be!

I stay in hotels/motels a few times a year, and I look for low cost, pool/hot tub access, sometimes handicap accessible, and location. This ticked all the boxes for me. The pool area was empty, and it was nice and quiet. The staff was very friendly and down to earth. I also really like the location. It was very convenient, and close to a grocery store, gas station, movie theater, and Denny’s. If you’re expecting some grand fancy hotel, this isn’t it. Don’t come here expecting champagne and caviar, then leave a bad review because your standards are too high. If you’re unhappy with your room, usually they can get you a different one. You just have to tell them right away, and be polite. It’s a nice, unassuming, inexpensive place. It’s around $60/night in the middle of a pandemic for goodness sakes, be kind.

I'm not trying to be rude, just to give an honest review. The bedspread was dirty, so it came off right away. The sheets however were soft and clean and smelt great. The floor had multiple stains and ruff spots, the shower drain was black all the way around and the tub had stains too. Overall I slept fine with my own pillow, and the staff was nice.

Arrived on 10-9-20 checked in the manager noticed i was a diamond member and upgraded me right away. Checked into my room and it was spotless . The pool and hot tub were very relaxing and kept in very good shape. The parking lot is very spacious and fit my truck and trailer in with no problem. Restaurants are within walking distance from the hotel. The manager and staff were very helpful. I am very pleased with my stay and will return again for another stay.

Room was disgusting. The trash from the previous stay was still there, bathroom was not cleaned, the towels looked used and abused with stains, only one roll of toilet paper (which was only good for maybe 1 uses). Part of the bathroom counter was falling off. The “do not disturb” sign was literally stuck to the floor. I was nervous to sleep on the beds and didn’t want to take off my shoes. 10:10 do not recommend. Waste of money.

Best value for us but will not stay there again. There were a few things bad. Stayed for 4 nights and no room servicing, had to take our old towels down to get new ones. Needs a serious makeover. Had no hot water for a few hours, along with no electric for an hour. Also not the cleanest. Hot tub and pool were nice.

Awful. Room smelled...smoke or mildew? Mold in shower, tiles coming off the wall. Didn't want to take your shoes off for fear of the carpet. Leak in the hall, baseboards coming off. Ugly stain on the couch. Not able to get fresh towels. And the complimentary breakfast was non existent. Probably the worst hotel I have ever stayed at.

Economy hotel that provides a few extra amenities. Carpets removed from room, and nice wood like flooring . I expect a lot cleaner than a carpet. Did have some dirt on floor, so not mopped since last visitor. Shower was nice, with extra heads to hit the torso. Bed was comfortable. I came in very late and night clerks were helpful and efficient.

Stayed here for a few nights, not impressed with service. My friend's room smelled absolutely FOUL like dirty socks, and they wouldn't let her switch rooms without paying $80. Didn't even offer an air freshener. Her smoke alarm didn't even look like it was working. Out of towels in the pool, pillows and beds super uncomfortable. New manager nice but staff was definitely not well trained - picked up the phone by saying, "Hello?" Instead of a friendly greeting . Super cheap rates which was AWESOME but we definitely got what we paid for 😥 Hoping that they can improve more! Definitely has potential.

I recently moved to Wausau this month, and I stayed at the EconoLodge with my fiance while we searched for apartments. I found the hotel to be clean, quiet, and safe. We were very comfortable during our 2 week stay, and I attribute this to the hotel management and staff. They were always available when we had questions or needed items for the room, at any time of the day. They are also cat friendly (which is a difficult find in the Wausau WI area).Additionally, we were not forced to have our room cleaned every 2-3 days like some other hotel brands do. With COVID still an ever present issue, we were comforted to know that we were the only ones in our room, unless we specifically requested cleaning service. This may not sound like much, but it gave us great peace of mind to know that the room was truly our own.The location was also excellent, with ease of access to the highway, and proximity to gas stations and restaurants. We felt like we were home, before actually finding our home. I give this hotel and it’s management my highest regard.

Booked 2 rooms, when both rooms needed to be relocated, we should have known to leave this hotel all together. The televisions do not work, terrible smoke and mildew odors, shattered glass on entry doors and barking dogs in one of the rooms down the hall. The late night clerk was borderline hostile. The one redeeming factor was the check in clerk, Alexandra I believe was her name and she tried her best to accommodate. My best advice is to keep driving past this establishment.
