We went for a ladies weekend during "widows weekend" and we REALLY enjoyed our stay, the front desk people were friendly and helpful. The pool was nice and warm (most pools in hotels are too cold for me) the hot tub was nice to. The room was spacious and clean. I hope they do something cool with the abandoned water park area (mini golf or a disk golf course would be cool). Also some entertainment for widows weekend would have been awesome, like a women's comedy show or something....I guarantee this would've drawn more groups of women like us and we would've spent lots of $$$ at the bar.

We checked into our room on Friday night and when we went into the bathroom we discovered what looked like the tub and shower had been neglected forever. Lots of rust around the drain, rust all around the overflow drain, the overflow drain appeared to be repaired with a plaster substance, and public hairs still on the bottom of the tub. I called the front desk and the girl working found us a different room. However, when she came to let us know our new room number she made a comment that they were aware that some rooms were having that issue from hard-water. That was definitely not a hard water issue. We got into our new room and went to use the paper coffee cups and realized that there was coffee stains already in the cups. We took our kids to the pool area and were about to go in when we discovered ants all over the top step to the pool which was dry. That is a health department violation right there. Then when you looked at the drains around the edgeof the pool and the pool floor and walls they looked like they had been neglected for quite sometime. My kids couldn't even enjoy the pool. That was the main reason we chose Bantr Hotel. I now see why the Waterpark part is shutdown. It should be the whole pool area until they make some improvements. Lots of small raised spots where it goes from concrete to tiled floors, the lobby is nothing pleasing to the eye. I called asked about a discount and I get told 10% is all the person could do. Ouch a slap in the face after all the issues we encountered. I definitely can't see myself going back there until some improvements are made and they can rectify the situation with more then 10%.

Our family stayed for 3 nights over New Years in conjunction with skiing at Granite Peak which is very easy to get to from this location. When I called to book the rooms, I was informed of the construction in the hotel. It’s going to be great when it’s done and it didn’t bother us at all. They were definitely running short on staff but it was also a holiday.Upon check in, we did have issues with our rooms. We booked a king loft and there was not a king size bed in the room. Also, our two rooms were as far apart from each other as you could get. We were able to work something else out at the front desk. It involved a room downgrade which was fine and we also got money back due to the downgrade which was outstanding. The pool and hot tub were both open but slim chance you got a towel if you went late. You do need to give the front desk an id to get a key fob every time you want to go to the pool which is inconvenient. There was once a water park at this hotel that will not be reopened. There were small kitchens in both of our rooms but they were not well stocked at all so if you plan on using the kitchen, bring what you need. The fridges were clean and cold. Bring any dishwasher pods or soap you want to use.The bathrooms show some wear and tear but were clean.A cold breakfast was included. There were bagels, cereal, pastries and yogurt. It left a little to be desired but was quick and easy before hitting the ski hill. There is a great breakfast place very close.Overall, we would stay again.

This is the second time I’ve taken my girlfriend up here from the city to kick off the snowboarding season over at granite peak which is about a 10 minute drive from the hotel. The hotel is massive and the rooms are huge. There is construction going on as it looks like they are redoing the whole lobby but you can’t hear any noise from the rooms. The rooms are absolutely massive and very well put together and nice. Huge pool and hot tub with a fitness center that had more equipment and better than most commercial gyms. The prices were great and was a fire sale for what we got. 10/10 would recommend

Great hotel!! Kathy was great at checking us in and upgrading our room. she was very welcoming and we received free bottle of champagne. It was my husband's birthday and the room was great with a hot tub. They are remodeling the hotel and there are not a lot of people in the hotel, but I see real good potential in the place after the remodeling is finished. We will definitely be back after it's finished. Thanks for a great weekend!!!

Not worth the price. The rooms are old and ugly. The service was mediocre with little flexibility. You'll get more value from other nearby hotels.Rooms: Old, a bit ratchet

My husband and I stayed at this hotel last night we were celebrating our Wedding Anniversary I went to the front desk and spoke with Jerome and I joked about needing a blanket for my husband because he was sleeping on the couch on our Wedding Anniversary. Jerome said oh No I am not letting your husband sleep on the couch on your Wedding Anniversary I am moving you into a suite. What a beautiful suite! I am so impressed with the suite! Jerome was so wonderful and such a nice person. Very friendly and a wonderful people person. Thank again for everything Jerome sincerely Jeff and Bonnie Sundet.

My family and I came here on the 20th of January and had our code and room emailed to us. When we got here, the code didn’t work for the door to get inside the building. Then when we got to our room, the code still didn’t work. We went to the front desk and we were told we were no longer in that room and we were moved to a different one. When we got to the new room, the heat didn’t work and the room was ice cold. We were told to flip a couple switches on the thermostat from the front desk and wait. After waiting an hour, it still didn’t work, so we had to switch rooms again….Now my family and I came here on February 3rd, and had just about the same experience. Our code and room were emailed to us, the code worked for the door to get inside the building, but didn’t work for the room. After going to the front desk, we were given a new code. When we opened the door to the room, the room was a mess. So again, we went up to the front desk and mentioned that the room hadn’t been cleaned. The lady at the front desk said to us, “oh yeah. That’s not your room.” First off, why on earth would you give us a new code for a room that’s not ours when now you’re acting like you knew it wasn’t our room in the first place? That’s definitely not safe at all. So now I’m scared that anyone can just walk into our room. When I tried explaining to her that this is the second time this had happened after our experience a couple weekends ago when we stayed here, trying to explain my concern, she cut me in off in conversation, just repeating to me that it’s just the wrong room. Then of course when we got to our new room, the tv didn’t work, but another nice staff member was nice enough to come assist us with that situation. This was the most complicated and the worst hotel experience I’ve had by far. I never write reviews, but this was frustrating enough that I had to. Also, we had never ever received an email from Bantr stating our rooms were changed or anything like we should have if we were in the wrong rooms.Rooms: Things don’t operate in the rooms.Safety: Staff give out codes to rooms that aren’t yours. So anyone could walk into your room at any time.Noteworthy details: There were many issues with the rooms being changed and how many times we’ve had to change rooms.

The only good thing I can say was Rising Phoenix was playing. Their bar was a disaster, under staffed and not at all prepared. We ordered rail vodka and water and Michelob Ultra and the first time the cost was $16 the second time it was $14.75. The third time they ran out of rail vodka, used some other kind and said $10.75 for that drink. We said know way keep it. My friends first order came to $17. So the next time she ordered rail rum not Bacardi and it still came to $17. I tended bar for years and this was a train wreck. I heard another guy say he owned a bar, that this was painful to watch. Numerous people were very put off by this mess tonight. I doubt it if our group of people will ever come back. Bantr was less than impressive. All window dressing and fluff, no substance.

Waste of time and money. This place doesn't make sense, I don't know if it's a hotel or a retirement community. They got rid of the water park WHICH IS THE MAIN REASON PEOPLE COME HERE for just a mediocre hot tub and a pool that looks like it hasn't been cleaned in a long time, not to mention closing the arcade to make another gym is foolish. They're remodeling but it doesn't make sense to have a modern look in a rustic lodge. There advertising is all over the place. Do you want this place to be for kids and families who want an amazing time or a place for older people looking for a retirement community. Their website says they can accommodate up to 200 people for a wedding but the reception is for only 80. I have been to many hotels around the country and this hotel is one of the worst I've been too. Denying house keeping if you're staying three days or less is a joke. Covid is not an excuse anymore to deny your guests amenities and clean rooms. If you're that hard up that you haft to close the waterpark and turn these into apartments you should just close and reopen as an apartment complex. The owners and manager should reverse coarse and bring it back to it's former glory with an updated restaurant. You have a real gem here but you don't even see it. I will definitely not be coming back to this place in the future until it gets better.

We had a great check-in and although the place is very much under construction, the rooms are huge and for the most part pretty clean. The place is massive with a nice courtyard, but the doors didn't shut properly to go out and in that area, so that couldbe a security issue (image). We LOVED the adults-only 10 PM - 12 AM pool and hot tub time. To be honest, this is why we booked it. The mattress (image) unfortunately had a huge stain on it, but we didn't notice until the next day. That should be cleaned or replaced for sure. Continental breakfast is just toast, cereal, and yogurt, and should be noted there were no eggs, waffles, hot food, etc. Overall, we would stay again especially for the price if we are ever in Rothschild again.

The bad: breakfast options were hard boiled eggs, cold cereal, muffins, bagels, toast. Coffee and milk to drink. Room: phone didn't work, fridge's freezer compartment overflowing with ice, 2 burnt out lightbulbs (one overhead and one bedside lamp), 2 shampoos with no conditioner. Parking not great.Good: clean overall, quiet

Well it was a nice looking room. The lobby is a little rough looking as this hotel is still in transition from a waterpark hotel to just a hotel. Their signage to and from rooms needs to be updated. During adult swim as I was the only one in the pool area a lady came in who was either 7 sheets to the wind or on something stumbled into the hot tub and passed out. I had to call front desk to come help her. Also the breakfast was very lacking. The room was beautiful. And the staff is very friendly. All in all I would rank this a 4 out of 5

We stayed here a year ago it was great to get out of the massive thunderstorms. I got to say it was a cute hotel I was a little disappointed about the water park but the room made up for that. it was spacious and clean it smelled very good the soap there is amazing blue iris and sea minerals is the best and the room had a certain smell that felt like home. I was a tiny bit creeped out when it started to get dark In the pool area but it was kinda nice to relax next to the pool. Thx for the amazing stay bantr! ;)

I will start off by saying, this wasn't a bad stay. I will however say that if you have been here before it became Bantr, don't expect for it to be like it was like before. I do appreciate that something is being done with the building rather than being vacant. The pool they advertise is the same pool that was in there before. Just added some cool lights and removed the basketball hoops and log crawl. The hot tub is the same as well but the whole pool area seemed poorly managed. The hot tub was cold, the temperature in the pool building was freezing. The game room was turned into a gym, which I think is great. The rooms themselves haven't changed. No updates, so some things are outdated, but overall the room was spacious and comfortable. They don't have the bar open consistently so plan accordingly. They do only serve cold breakfast but it was sufficient enough. Plenty of local places in town to get a hot breakfast. I may stay here in the future once they finalize all the improvments they say they are working on, but I wont be back anytime soon. For the price of the room, I can find a nicer, upkept hotel in the area for the same price, if not cheaper. I look forward to see what this place becomes and hope it can be something great again. Thank you

The guest service staff (all shifts) were all extremely rude. I called 4 months in advance to book 5 rooms and from the very begging they acted like I was inconveniencing them. Their attitudes were atrocious. They initially made a mistake booking our rooms and when I called to fix it, the lady was super rude to me. Anytime I called to speak to someone they were rude and hung up the phone on every call. When we got there to check in, the lady was SUPER RUDE!The rooms smelled, the shower didn’t work, the clothes line was broken. There is not a changing area/bathroom/locker room in the pool area. They advertised the bar being open and having entertainment; the bar wasn’t even open.Do not recommend!

My experience here was upsetting. I cannot get over the fact that this hotel use to be one of my favorite. The water park made a huge impact to the community, the restaurant, was a literal restaurant. Not a 18+ over bar. The hotel looked as it was not colorful as it was before. What I found really weird, is that there was already a gym near the rooms. Yet they decided to wipe out the arcade to turn it into a gym, and I was just wondering how come they have to build two gyms? And now that I have to find out you’re demolishing the waterpark, just makes me super upset. I had many childhood memories from there, and the fact you’re turning it into something that won’t provide any entertainment at all for almost ALL AGES. To make things worse, they have to build a wall around the water park so then we can just watch it waiting for it to be demolished. I will never be coming to this hotel ever again until they will change their mind.

The prices you pay for a room at Bantr is what the previous owners charged, only they offered a water park, lazy river, etc-May I make a suggestion? The Wilderness at The Dells offers a free kids indoor play area. it's 3 stories. Perhaps invest in something like this? Check out their pictures of it, it's pretty neat.

Wonderful stay! They are a cabin lodge style, and it fit our ski trip theme perfectly! They even have transportation multiple times per day to and from the granite peak ski resort. They have new owners, so they just opened the bar up and its placed conveniently right next to the check in area. Only a 30 second walk from the room, and you were there. There is also a place called "The Bar" only a block away that has food, and delivers to your room. The workers were very friendly and we even met the owner who was just as great. Will definitely be staying here on our next ski trip to Wausau!

Very quiet, peaceful stay. I stayed for a week and was given a discounted rate, thanks to the staff and the front desk ladies who were able to get me a affordable rate and assist me with copying my receipts and papers for me. I did not like that I had to clean my own room by staying for a week. The things in my room did not work like the telephone, the television, the shower was like a low pressure water sprinkler, the tub had built up rust around it from the dripping of low pressure water,Same day expired milk for breakfast, and a cold breakfast is not my ideal of a lodge breakfast, I would have enjoyed some hot food. Nice front desk staff. Thanks for your assistance..

It was ok til. The hotel was nice don’t get me wrong. I was there for traveling and the price was very high for a monthly rental. I love the fact tat it was pet friendly, but if people our staying there with there dogs. I should not have to watch were I step or smell dogs mess coming into the hotel. And also for it being such a big hotel or old water park need to add more washer and dryers and no dogs allowed in work out room. Staff our very friendly and welcoming.
