Absolutely rude and disgusting. These people got no business trying to run a pet store. I'm guessing their IQ is in the upper seventies and that's being generous.4/6/2024 Update:Everyone deserves a second chance. Today, a different woman was working and she was polite and very helpful. If I come back and have a similar positive experience, I'll delete this review and post new with more stars. Place could still use some organization.

Pretty damn cool pet store with a SUPER knowledgeable, passionate and committed owner. I wasn’t able to stop in myself, but my boyfriend came back with oodles of information about feeding our kitties nutritionally & without fillers or harmful ingredients. We’re sad we don’t live nearby to become regulars and support this local hardworking business owner.

I've gone to the store previously to purchase dog food and it went wel This time I decided to get dog food and a toy. The toy was marked for $20 on the tag that the store put on it. But when I went to purchase the item , it rang up as $42 and they told me the owner will regularly change the prices and it is what it is. Seems like false advertising.

Friendly staff, very clean and organized. Was looking for a four ft leash for my service dog. They don't carry them but have a nice selection. 4 stars 🌟 because they didn't have a 4ft leash

I stopped her because I needed to get some taste of the wild dog food. Small little place but they had what I was looking for. Seems like a strange location for a pet store and parking is a little pain but they had what I needed.

It's ok, the food is a little high tbh I didn't bother looking at other products. Very small aisles (due to small building) and prices can be hard to find on some shelves. They have a store cat which is fun but i almost tripped over him several times since he plants himself directly in front of your feet. Look down often while shopping

Great selection of high-quality products. It’s hard to find the food I feed my dog around where I live, so I drive here to get it. They recognize me when I come in even though I’ve only been here a few times now. I can always find some great treats for my boy too. I love being able to support a local business too!

Staff and owner are fantastic! Very knowledgeable and helpful with troubleshooting my picky dog. Very friendly and will remember you personally giving this business a very small town feel. You are truly a valued customer and not just a number.

I highly recommend Pets of Portage. They were all so helpful. Even the cat was a model to see if a collar would fit our cat.I found some new toys for our cat too.Definitely worth the venture from Wisconsin Dells to Portage which wasn’t a bad drive.Especially being from out of state.Thanks for all your help and amazing service.

Ventured out to Pets of Portage after our Golden Retriever grew out of her first puppy harness. The woman who helped us was super helpful and even let us bring our puppy in to try on several different harnesses. She also gave us tips on leash walking, which is something you don't get when you shop online! Glad to support a local business and will definitely do it again in the future!

She didn't have the kind of hamster food for my grand daughter so she special ordered it for me and now I will always buy from her. Also excellent varieties of things in the store. Absolutely love the staff and I highly recommend them.

Like any home town store the prices are a little more high but if you pay shipping it is almost the same. But still amazing they had what I needed for my pigs. And having the cats there is a plus. Love going there knowing I'll get some cat rubs in

I have been going to this store for over a year now since I moved to the area. I love this store. Everyone who works here is extremely helpful, knowledgeable and nice. Healthy selections and a great variety of food, treats and toys. I’m very grateful to have this store nearby!

Pros: Good variety of products and for a smaller local business reasonably priced.Cons: Treated rudely by staff. While I was on the phone to see if a family member needed anything while I was there I was looking over cage bedding. As I have a broken hand things like texting take longer so as I was waiting for someone to answer the phone an employee comes up and she says "can I help you find whatever it is you're looking for" (and not in a tone that says shop local). When I tell her no I had found it I was just waiting to see if it was something needing to be purchased she didn't say anything but continued to hover. Then when I did have questions she continued to be rude and almost appeared to be trying to talk me out of purchasing anything. I SPOIL my furbabies, and would much rather spend money local but I will am unsure of going back there due to that. If she was the owner that saddens my heart because in the past I had always had such pleasant experiences in that store.

I just moved to portage and my little dog was running low on her food, I stopped by and asked if they had her brand, unfortunately did not, but they gave me samples of two other similar brands to try. I was very impressed by this as they did not try to sell me anything. They were very knowledgable and even gave me directions to a store were I could buy my dogs food. I would definitely recommend this store to anyone who has pets.

They have tons of dog stuff @ a fairly reasonable price (to be honest I was shocked, I figured things would be outrageously priced for a small store). Staff is SUPER friendly and helpful. If they don't have something you want, they'll do their best to find/get it for you.

Very knowledgeable for a lot of different kinds of pets and their care needs of all kinds. A little expensive, but if you need help they are worth the few extra dollars and can assist you in your needs. Family owned and you know they really do care about you and all your concerns.

I went in to purchase Dubai Roaches for our bearded dragon. I was going to purchase 20 large roaches. The gray short haired woman said they were .75 each & all she had was large Roaches and the small & medium Roaches were out of stock. I asked if they had went up in price because when I purchased prior they were 50 cents each when I purchased 20. I believe purchasing over 10-15 reduced the price to 50 cents. At anyrate I agreed to pay 75 cents each. When I gave her my container to put them in, she took quite a long time looking through the Roaches and putting them in the container. When she brought me the container I looked in and saw several large Roaches and small Roaches as well... Very very different in size. I said "those are large? the others are a lot smaller" I said "I would rather have the larger size as I won't pay 75 cent each for a Roaches that small (some were less than an inch long). The Roaches I typically purchase are double that size. I would need to feed our bearded dragon 2-3 to equal 1 large one. It had nothing to do with her really, just that I do not have money to be spending on alot on small Roaches. I would need to purchase more of them at a time when I didn't have time or the money to do so. However, she was upset about it and had a attitude about it right away and said something to the effect "I pay 75 cents for each of the Roaches too" After she went back to get larger Roaches & it was taking so long to get them again... I said "I'll just take the larger Roaches if that's all you have and I'll go without the smaller ones" she said something to the effect of "fine, I'll give you all my large Roaches!" I thought she was out of small/medium Roaches so:#1-it would take a minute to grab them & she wouldn't have to look through all of them to grab 20 large#2-there would not be small or medium size Roaches in my container or in hers if she was in fact out of themAt any rate, she got pissed about it. I said "you know what, just give me back my container and I'll purchase them elsewhere" she replied "that would be great actually" with a attitude and brought me back my container.WOW, I wished her good luck because if she is the owner and treats customers that way... She won't be in business too long. I had previously purchased Roaches there at least 3-4 times and had never experienced this prior to today. I suppose people such as her should be kinder being as you can walk out of the store and write a bad review within minutes.
