Dr. Ludwig is the worst, we took our cat in for a fever and she didn't do a full exam, she also gave us wrong medicine that was for dogs. DO NOT even go here, she is bad! 7 years ago she also held eye medicine for our bird and for an appointment, she said we had to pay 65 dollars even though it was our first visit even though the first visit is free, and also this place is also somewhat overpriced. Never going here ever again.

North Country is one of the best vets I have used in over a half-century of sharing my life with dogs. I want the same level of care for our animals as I do for our kids-the best. NCVC provides that. My Lab is there as I type, getting some dental work done. I know it will be done well, and limited to what is needed. Strongly recommend them.

We had to rush our 5 yr old manx, Woody to after hours care due to him laboring to breathe and the vet and her tech were so compassionate, respectful and honest in their care for our sweet boy. They did everything they could for him, but he let us know it was his time and it was one of the hardest decisions we've ever had to make, and they were so supportive every step of the way. I am so grateful for their care for us and our Woody boy. And I think they cried right along with us, because they care so much. Thank you so much for everything.

The vet came in after hours for an emergency visit to see our lab. I was pleasantly surprised. She did a fantastic job and they were willing to see our lab when no other local places were. Thank you again, we appreciate you guys! I believe we will be transferring the care of our dogs to them from now on for all our vet needs.

I took my cat to North Country Veterinary Clinic. My cat was dehydrated. All that my cat needed was antibiotics and fluid. I sat in the waiting area for a very long time. Finally, I asked the receptionist what was going on. She said, they were performing additional tests on the cat. I said, I never authorized additional tests! I talked to the owner, and questioned why they were performing further testing without my permission?She said, it was protocol. I said, that was absurd. They charged me over $300!! I was expecting to pay $50.Do not go here. I have friends and family that tried this business, and they suck you dry $$$.

Our mini-golden has been to the clinic 4 times now. She is very comfortable and displays no anxiety while there.The staff truly loves animals. They explain all procedures and what to expect afterward. Poppi just had surgery with no complications and a great recovery.

I agree that the cost can be high- like many other reviews. We have always gotten quality care, that’s what I pay for.we when became fur parents we took on the responsibility of making sure they are healthy. I see it no different from taking a child to the doctor when needed.I pay for and get excellent care. We had a family crisis in Indiana and was able to get 3 dogs kenneled immediately. During this time our older lab - he had been very I’ll off and on- had to be put down the morning of the funeral we had left for… it was devastating. When I returned the vet took the time to explain everything about his final hours.it wasn’t really a surprise he passed we knew his end was coming, but devastating never the less. We knew he was in the hands of someone we trusted to make that decision.Another time one of our labs cracked a toe down to the quick-they got him right in. At present we are dealing with an ear hematoma on our golden. So compassionate, gentle and thorough.Highly recommend

Last evening our family was in a crisis with our beloved Bull Mastiff mix. Within a few hours troubling signs of distress were exhibited by our Oliver. I called a hot line in Minocqua area and the best I got was a trip to Wausau (it was 9:00 pm)! A friend told me about North Country Vet services and how they were quick to respond to emergencies! SHE WAS RIGHT! I called and spoke with Dr. Ludwig who gave me pertinent info on the call. After assessing our situation and a couple more calls to her, she offered to come in to the Phillips Clinic and examine our dog. I arrived around 11:00pm and her fears expressed on the phone calls regarding Oliver’s symptoms were confirmed. He had carcinoma of the spleen and was bleeding out internally.We made the heart breaking decision to say our goodbyes to him and Oliver went to his permanent sleep. Throughout the hour plus examination process, Dr. Ludwig displayed an incredible compassion and provided a genuine quality approach to Oliver’s last minutes with us!She was the best and you won’t go wrong placing your beloved pets under the care of this professional facility!!!! Thank You Dr. Ludwig ❣️

We have been very happy with our choice to go to North Country. We have four dogs that are seen regularly, two who are very nervous around new people. The care for all the dogs is wonderful, but what we like is how everyone remains calm around the nervous ones to help them remain calm during their visits. We have had many scheduled surgeries that Dr. Ludwig has performed (doing very nice work) along with a few middle of the night emergency calls (and a huge THANK YOU to her for providing this very needed service). I like that we are given estimates to know around what things will cost along with Dr. Ludwig's compassion when harder choices have to be met.

This is the best vet I have ever been to. Dr. Ludwig is so nice and super caring. Whether it is a scheduled visit or an emergency, they make you and your fur baby calm! All the staff has been nothing but nice and just as caring. I would recommend this vet to anyone. 5 stars is an understatement from Kodiak and I.

Dr. Ludwig is awesome, very caring and knowledgeable. We had an old dog that was in pretty bad shape, Dr. Ludwig took her right in that morning. We had to put our old girl down. We were really upset. Dr. Ludwig and her staff comforted us like we were family. Come to find out Dr. Ludwig had lost a very special person in her life and here she is taking care of us. If you want top notch care for your pet North Country vet is where you want to go. Thank you!!!

Whether we are there for routine services, scheduled surgeries, or after hours emergencies, it gives us peace of mind knowing they are in good hands...and that we have someone to be there for us even when it is the middle of the night. I am so happy to have Dr. Ludwig so close. She saved the life of my 3 year old French Brittany who ingested something in the woods while grouse hunting. I called about 4;45pm and she waited until I got there. Rushed with my dog. He was getting worse by the minute. She saved him without question. So good with my other dog Buzz. People do not appreciate what we have. Thank you Dr. Ludwig!!!

Our 3 dogs loved it. It was great that we could drop them off in the morning when we left and pick them up the next day. They must have played a lot because they slept when we got home. We will use them again if we can't take them with us. I think they really enjoyed their stay.

A wide variety of services are offered and a great choice for water treadmill or accupuncture, both which is difficult to find in the area. However one of the Drs has repeatedly called to reschedule appts, and if it is kept, is consistently late. Also after describing the ailments, she seems to push for more than I believe is necessary. Suggestions and advice would go a lot further than pushing, doing, and expecting immediate payment as if people were given a choice.
