This store is small but packs a punch. It's not as big as commercial pet stores but the quality of fish and the amount of products is amazing. The staff is very knowledgeable and ready to help you right away but if you want to look around without being bothered they won't hover. Every time I go to Petco or PetSmart there are dead and sick fish. The fish here looked awesome, there were lots of rock/substrate options that weren't just the typical pet store looking rocks, awesome pieces of driftwood, large pieces of flat rocks for larger aquariums, and so many options for fake plants. I also didn't see any of those awful .25 gallon tanks that are "perfect" for betta fish. It feels so nice to support local and I would highly recommend checking out this store!

Stopped here on our way home from a Chicago trip by chance. Glad we did! They have a great selection of fish, tanks are beautiful and clean. They were very knowledgeable and answered questions. Definitely going back and highly recommend!

I would have given it zero stars if that was an option. The small animals and reptiles looked horribly cramped in small cages with no hiding spots. Numerous fish in tanks with little tiny labels that you couldn't tell who was what. Not sure how they're still in business.

In my experience the lady who works in the store is very nice but the man who works with her is not a people person. The feeder rodents are overpriced and he has tortoises and bearded dragons dwelling together.

Good quality rats and mice for my snakes. Healthy bright eyed and clean vents and snouts and good girth. Seem sweet tempered too so probably ideal pets for those who don't have a picky hoard of live only bps. Store was clean and well stocked with anything you may need for aquatic to small animals

If you want fish, this is the place to go! They are very knowledgeable as they have been in the business since they were kids, when their mom owned a pet store. They are very knowledgeable and friendly!

We came into your store for the first time earlier and it was awesome! My daughter loved seeing all the fish and other animals. There was also a decent amount of feeder insects to purchase for our reptile. The crickets were cheaper here then PetSmart or Petco and the woman who checked us out was extremely friendly and nice. It was definitely a great experience and we'll be back! Definitely recommend this place!

Been dealing with Aquarium Pets for the better part of 15 yrs. now and I am still very pleased with the products and service.Jim and Jane are wonderful people with a professional and caring demeanor towards their customers and their pets.Wide selection and what they don't have they will go out of their way to get for you.Don't believe the negative reviews that may be on here as I wouldn't be going there for this long if the reviews were true.Try it for yourself and I will guarantee it is the best mom and pop pet store in the entire valley.Keep up the good work Aquarium Pets!

I have been shopping here for about 5 years now. I was recommended Aquarium Pets by a friend who had about 10 years experience with them previous to mine. They're knowledge on fish and care are superb. I've haven't had any bad fish experiences with them. I highly recommend if you are anywhere near them.

Great place to shop for pets and their needs. Very knowledgeable. Yes you may have to wait awhile, while they help other customers, but worth the wait to get the answers you need. My go to place for products and help.

I've had good fish come from here! Sometimes there's a wait but it's a mom and pop shop so that's what happens! I've never been in there while in a rush so it's nice to look around while you wait. I got my mystery snail who had a cleft shell from here and also some corydoras and black skirt tetras and I'm pleased with all my purchases! I did return one fish at one point and they made it a very easy process!

They carry a good variety of reptile and aquarium supplies for great prices. The owner and employees are very helpful and friendly! They also have an ever changing variety of live animals including snakes, lizards, crabs, birds, bunnies, and of course fish.

I will agree the prices are higher but it's the price you pay for shopping local, and getting excellent customer service.

Friendly owners. Family owned. Support local shops! Lots of selection from fish to mammals to reptiles to love animals. Come take a look and you might be surprised what you find. Excellent prices on live food for your animals as well. Way cheaper than the corporate stores.

Went in for some basic information and a general cost estimate for some frogs. Got an absolute best case for what I was looking for. Reasonable cost estimate and a lot of good advice on how to integrate the environment for the frogs. Place was clean and no floaters in the fish tanks.

Love the variety this store provides. The owners are extremely helpful. Not only do the have everything that you will ever need for an aquarium, but they always have the best prices anywhere in a 60 Mile radius. Much better the all of the Fox valley fish stores.

I have had fish for fifteen years, and have always been going to a corporate store for my fish and fish supplies. When I heard about Aquarium Pets, I didn't know what to expect, but I thought I would give them a try. When I first walked in I was blown away by all the plants/decor. Way better than any other fish store Ive been too!I was helped right away by a younger lady, who had answers to all of my questions about caring for an eel. I did my research online about them, and she was correct about everything. She even added some very helpful information that I didn't find online.All the tanks are well kept up, and not a single dead or sickly looking fish. They have a giant selection of different fish compared to the corporate stores. I definitely recommend buying your fish supplies here. They even have rats, turtles, and other odds and ends, but their main focus is more on fish. Free water testing, and very knowledgeable employees on the Ph cycle, nitrate and nitrite levels, and basically how to maintain a healthy tank.Five star all the way! Great job guys

Our experience was absolutely fantastic! We had a few hiccups with being able to have an animal in our home and the owners were so good about the small wait and holding our new addition to the family! They were so down to earth, really care about the animals and that's so refreshing!!! They love what they do and it certainly shows. Was a small town feel but an amazing place they got fish and supplies tarantulas and supplies mice rats hamsters ect.The ONLY place in town in a 20 mile radius that has SUPER WORMS can't get that at your big chain stores such as "PET... SMART OR CO."The best pet store around period.And you can take that to the bank.Never should I find myself at a "Pet" chain store again.

Nice little hidden gem. The staff really knows their stuff. I had recently gotten a new tank and wanted a good selection of fish. They walked me through every step amd answered any and all questions. Prices were reasonable and selection of fish and accessories was good.

FYI On Tuesday Jan 12 one of the owners was out with a serious illness. Due to it being the day the fish order is delivered, the wait time was a little longer than normal. The staff did the best they could with the situation at hand. I am a very satisfied customer.
