Bought a Korean War M1 Garand from them for a great price. Friendly, helpful staff. Seller offered me his own refurbished en blocs to go with it. Very happy with my purchase, can't wait for spring so I can go fire this amazing rifle. Very small-town feel to the store, but a great selection. Every gun enthusiast in Sheboygan Country should familiarize themselves with Daane.

Be prepared to wait for background check when purchasing guns. It's the law and the owners have to abide by the law. Try this place....you'll like it.

Okay perhaps I shouldn't have left "in a huff". Also jumping to false accusations about high pricing wasn't fair either. However forgive me for having a job and wanting to keep said job by showing up on time. I drove an hour and a half to inspect and buy the gun. Yet, I waited in the store for over an hour while the background check went through.I was excited to visit the store and hopeful at the opportunity to buy the gun. They do have one of the best selections in the state. But need to know more about the pricing in some respects. The gun I went in to purchase was used, despite looking nearly new, it was priced right at the same retail for a new model. Yes they had it priced cheaper online and matched that price, which was minimum the seller would take. Here is where their expertise should have come into play, suggesting a more appropriate or lower acceptable minimum knowing the guns new retail pricing.If I had the time I would have waited all day visiting friends in the area. If my time doesn't mean anything, then how can I expect my money? Would I still take the gun? Yes, but for what it should be priced at.

I haven't ever had a bad experience whenever I visited, no matter what it was for. From firearms, to small electrical components, to just random odds and ends. Everyone is friendly and the store is well kept.I have been going to Daane since I was a kid and still make it a habit to visit and check out their selection of firearms whenever I am back in town.

Daane hardware is an excellent little hardware store with much of what you might need to fix a small problem. They have an amazing little gun shop upstairs that is well outfitted. Prices are fair for a small family owned shop; it's worth paying for convenience.

Update to "skippy7399, I understand your frustration in having to wait for your background check but that is not our fault, there was nothing we could do about it. Even though there is no longer a 48 hour waiting period for hand guns, it is not instant, it sometimes takes 10 minutes, sometimes a whole day, that is your government (Department of Justice) working for you. It is out our control. I did keep checking every 5 to 10 minutes. That was the best I could do.On the pricing matter, we always advise our consignment customers to put their bottom dollar on the gun, we try our best to direct them what the going rate is on the auction site, it is ultimately their decision what it gets priced at.In reply to "skippy7399" this customer came in to buy a consignment gun which is priced by theperson selling it, not us. He was disgruntled because he didn't pass the WI State handgun background check immediately, not our problem. Left in a huff, without gun and with us losingour $10 background check fee. We pride ourselves on our customer service, guess there is nothing you can do to please some people.

I received the grand opportunity to experience some of the best customer service commonly found in rural Wisconsin. I made a purchase on Gunbroker and decided to drive down to the small town with an unfamiliar name. Daane's Hardware is a 4th generation vintage piece of American history and the inheritor of this family heirloom treated us like we were regular customers. He has a very nice display of new and used firearms with a large selection of shooting vests. You will also find other items available including ammunition. Small store and great selection. I live for places like this and this will top my list of favorites.Thank you!
