This place has everything. Went to get a special cupcake for our puppy's birthday. He, of course, loved it. The staff was very knowledgeable and helpful. We plan to go back again. The only reason for the 4 star and not 5 Is the toys and a few things were a little overpriced. But other than that the place is great!!

Went in looking for a natural way to ease the pain of our dogs arthritis. The person at the counter did not know much about it, but got me someone who did. The different options were well explained, questions about the age and size of the dog were asked, and I went away with 2 products I felt would help. It didn't take long, and our 12 year old Aussie/husky stopped grumbling every time he jumped down from the couch or bed.He seems much calmer and is moving around more like his old self. Thank you so much for helping us ease our dogs pain. He means so much to us, and we will surely be back for more product.

I’ll be honest, I don’t disagree with the comments about slightly missing customer service. My husband and I shopped here for two years, spending hundreds of dollars on treats & Fromm dog food, before being told about their punch card.Regarding the Self Service Dog wash, I couldn’t really find any information online so here’s the scoop! It starts at $10 for 10 min and is $1 for every minute thereafter (15 min = $15). Once it starts, you select which setting you want (rinse = water, shampoo = shampoo laced water, etc). It’s all included in your time. So if you plan on using the air drier, plan on 2-3 min of your total time for that! Otherwise, it worked as needed and got the job done.

The staff is so friendly and helpful! I love using the self-serve dog wash for my big hairy dogs. It's convenient and easy to use. The dogs love coming here because they always get a treat at the counter :)

I love this place! We got a puppy a couple months ago and I was a bit in over my head. The staff there has been so incredibly helpful, from advice on treats, toys and training tools, to sharing some laughs over some crazy puppy stories. I won’t go anywhere else. Corri has helped me on numerous occasions but my impression is that they are all wonderful. Also love their dog washing station. So convenient!!

Every time we go in there we have a positive experience! Staff is always helpful, and if they don't have what we're looking for, they are always willing to suggest options or look into ordering product. We buy dogs supplies there as well as fish & fish supplies. We've always been happy! Would highly recommend especially over big-box stores.

This is a PET friendly fun store. They have a really nice dog wash kiosk in the back of the store. Great for our Furbabies who get muddy while out walking!

We had an excellent experience today when we came in to pick out fish and tank supplies. These fish will be our first pets, so it's high excitement at home. The knowledge and service at Hooves and Paws is top notch, especially in comparison to the extremely negative experience we had at a different store right before. Should have come here first, as we definitely will in the future. Thanks so much!

I used to go here all the time for my birds and fish products. Manager makes me want to drive a bit further. Lately, the manager lady has been rude and unwelcoming. I usually look for another employee to ask my questions to because for the most part they are more helpful. So yes, mostly friendly staff. Just have never met a worse manager.Also, DO NOT buy fish from here. They are always being treated or there are dead ones in the filter.They are also highly biased on dog foods (mostly the no grain options) specifically the manager that sits on the counter like a preacher. It costs more and there are studies on both sides, so maybe don’t try to convince people to go grain free all the time when you don’t know their dog. Even if I agree or disagree, it’s extremely disrespectful how condescending she can be. Not to mention the weed smell.The grain and grain-free debate is worth looking into, but workers here aren’t going to know everything. For example, telling me something like “dogs should eat meat and the other fillers aren’t that good because look at wolves y’know this is what they would eat in the wild so here try the raw diet (which is quite pricey) it’s natural” is simply not correct. Dogs evolved into omnivores and co-evolved with humans. This business needs to do more than quick research on the internet before convincing their customers. As someone who has been involved in studies and has a career in animal agriculture/nutrition, management needs to look a little further before telling their employees what to say. I like when I actually get an employees opinion at this store. Just sucks when they say, “others may not agree, but this is what I use” because at least that feels genuine.Most of the staff is nice and is trying their best, but management needs to understand they can’t hide the products they dislike (such as Science Diet) on a hard to see shelf. Yes, it may not be that good. But that further proves there is a bias and the information you are getting won’t be the entire story. Trust is therefore a big issue when it comes to this store.

This store has a really great selection of food, treats, toys and supplies for dogs, cats, horses, birds and small animals. The prices are good and the staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. This is one of my favorite pet stores and its nice to support a small local business.

Great shop! Very knowledgeable, friendly staff especially Cory? She’s helped me with finding the right dog food that my big guy isn’t allergic to. Also they have ordered the specific type of bird food for our Sun conure. The self-dog wash they offer is also very convenient when you wanna bath your dog more frequently without the extra cost of going to groomers.

The staff was super friendly and helpful. This is one of the only places around with a self wash dog wash. The washroom itself is in the back of the store which was really nice considering our dog is shy. Everything was very clean and worked perfectly. I would recommend this place to all dog lovers.

Our fur family and aquatic family loves Hooves n paws! They have a great selection for all your animal friends! Safe and healthy foods at amazing prices! The staff are very friendly and happy to help with any questions! They will also order what you may need if they dont have it available. We LOVE. the self wash/dog wash station. It's very convenient!

We love the healthy dog foods they offer & everything else for animals. It's a very nice store with kind & helpful employee's as well. They also usually feature a couple cats & kittens for adoption in the front window area, in comfy enclosures, from HAWS (Humane Society in Waukesha). They have birds, hamsters & other small animals for sale too. Kids love going there.

The only place I go for my dog supplies. They ask questions about my dogs to make sure they supply the right food. Corey and the staff are very helpful. They work hard to help you and keep you as a customer. They take the food to your car and their prices are fair. They are very pet friendly. I love the meet and greets. Great place to go.

Great inventory and friendly service! I frequently stop here for crickets and lizard needs. They have birds, rabbits, and some other small critters, and some reptiles and fish. Lots of horse stuff too, but I don't have a horse.

Friendly staff, nice selection.Really appreciate the selection they carry for tank filters. I have a newt in a tank that is filled only 1/3 with water. Trying to find an adequate filter for a 10 gallon aquarium is extremely difficult. There are a great deal of turtle tank filters out there. But, they are for large 20+ gallon tanks.I also recently adopted Charlie (a "ginger" cat) that Hooves and Paws was displaying for the Watertown Humane Society. Went in to pick up Paw Safe salt (as they were the only ones in the area that had any)....walked out with a cat. : D

If there was a 0 star i would rate it a zero star got accused of shop lifted iteams because of a tag in the bottom of the cart. employees were rude and rolled their eyes at us. we are just a couple of teenagers who wanted to get some stuff for our hamsters but will not be going here again

I had the pleasure of visiting the store to purchase a few items for my dog Sally in the past. But today I made the trip to the place outside of Oconomowoc to give my dog a bath and found the place locked up. I did make the phone call before I left the house so I could give my dog a bath. They told me the way it works before hand that way I knew what to expect when giving my dog a bath. I was able to give my dog a bath but in the middle of giving the bath and I went to dry my dog, the lights went dark. I was happy that my dog was able to get a bath. The girls even asked if I wanted to finish with it all. I just said I was happy that I was able to have a clean dog. They asked me if my dog could have a treat for being a good dog and a good sport about what went on. Thank you goes out to the owners of Hooves & Paws.

Wisconsin doesn’t require breaks for employees over eighteen. It’s unfortunate that companies like Hooves & Paws don’t set specific times for reasonable breaks. Small businesses may be good, but they’ll ignore common courtesy to get that extra fifteen or thirty minutes of manpower—as long as the law allows it, of course. However, they waste no time sticking strictly to Wisconsin’s minimum wage laws.Workers should know that it’s not difficult to find places that pay over ten dollars (or even $7.25, for that matter) with good hours, better management, and scheduled breaks/lunches.Customers should know that not everything is as perfect and peachy it seems—especially not this business.
