This place is amazing! Lots of neat animals and very friendly, knowledgeable owners! Adoption process was easy and thorough. My fiance and I just got 7 new pets in 3 days Along with helpful information on diet, tank/ cage set up, and care for our new additions! 10 out of 10 would recommend J & Rs!!! Thank you!! Made a special 3 hour trip just to check this store out. Was extremely disappointed, and rather sickened... My family are animal advocates and could not believe the state these animals were in. A full grown bearded dragon was in an enclosure barely big enough for a newly hatched one. Adults should NEVER be in the size tank this one was in. We also observed the employees stuffing a snake that appeared to be about 3 feet long into a tank that also was WAY too small... with no way of ever being able to fully stretch out. As well as a few fully grown turtles in tanks barely large enough for their bodies to fit inside. This "rescue" needs a real rescue to come save its animals. I wish we could afford to have purchased them all from this place, because they so desperately need better living conditions. It was sickening to see... I highly recommend staying away and not supporting this place unless your intent is to save these animals and give them a better quality of life.

I had to surrender some platy fish as, if you own livebearers, you know the population can boom. I love my fish more than most and didn’t want to sell them to a store or place where they wouldn’t receive the top care and I wanted them to be sold to a family who would love them for their whole fishy lives and be educated on proper tank setup. J&R took them in willingly and made the process easy and as painless as possible. I trusted in their process enough to drive an hour and a half from Madison and it was so worth the time to see this place. They even have surrender events across Wisconsin to make the process even more simple and accommodating to your time. Thank you for all you do and for taking in my fish friends with open arms!

We had J &R come for my daughters birthday and it was AMAZING!! John was so friendly. He shared interesting facts about all the different animals and brought them around for everyone to see. We were able to hold and/or pet them all!Kids and adults LOVED it!They were also very responsive and helpful when it came to planning the event.

I adopted a tiny tarantula and the process was seamless. They were in contact the whole time and I couldn't ask for more. The care and condition my little spider was packed with showed they met and understood the pets need. I Came home with several pictures of their other rescues to share with friends who could be looking for a cool pet to spend life with.

This place is great. I spend too much money when I go in... but that is on me. Always my first choice if I am thinking of getting a pet. Worth the visit. Lots of animals to look at in clean cages. The turtles are fun to feed. We adopted a couple guinea pigs. You can see in the video they are curious and friendly. Our dogs love them. When you are there donate a buck or two. J&R does good work.

Jon is very very kind and knows everything you could imagine about the animals brought into the rescue. I always enjoy visiting the rescue as you can tell ALL animals are being properly cared for and handled. It’s a very clean and friendly environment. 10/10 would recommend adopting from the rescue!

It was so wonderful to work with J&R as we went through the process of getting a classroom pet! The owner went above and beyond to make sure I had the information and supplies needed ahead of time, and answered my questions that sprang up after I had brought our lizard home.

Great birthday party! Highly interactive and host allowed all guests plenty of time with a variety of animals. This was a perfect party for 10 and 11 years olds and could be tailored for many ages, even younger kids.

Was excited to check out this "rescue", but was disappointed immediately. The aquariums were filthy, and most tanks were overcrowded. One tank appears to have a turtle in it, but since the water was green in color, it was hard to tell. This place needs serious improvements!

We brought a hedgehog we rescued from outside here and they were very friendly and seemed very nice!! Our vet reccomended them as a certified rescue, and to get a certification shows that they go above and beyond to ensure the safety and well being for their animals!

This is a great animal rescue! I've been looking to get an axolotl for a while now, and when I saw that I could adopt one from a rescue instead of buying from a pet store, I was so excited. They responded to my questions right away, accepted my application within a few minutes, and made the pickup process quick and easy. I would definitely recommend them to anyone looking to adopt an aquatic animal!

In the process of adopting our axolotl from J&R we found them to be very responsive to our questions, had the animal ready when we arrived and were very professional about the care of the creature.
