Only the second time I've been there and Gempeler's does not disappoint! Great sale today! They had cheese, sausage, and wine tasting as well! The wine coupon was great! They were roasting turkey and it smelled like mom's kitchen during the holidays. They staff couldn't have been nicer or more knowledgeable. Connie, Connie, Julia, and Ernie thank you so much. Can't wait for my third visit!!!

I have no other complaints other than make sure you know what your doing when it comes to WIC. One mistake and the lady at the check out will make you feel stupid, uncomfortable, and she will do or say whatever to embarrass you and make sure you know your inconveniencing her and the others. I haven't been back since and I don't plan too. However if your check out experience goes her way I'm sure your experience will be much better than mine.

What a jewel of a grocery store and deli. Super kind and helpful staff and wow, check out the deli!! Delicious pizzas (even take and bake) and so much more! They even have a seating area near the deli.

Every September I stop in and buy Ring 10-15 Bolognas and Farmers Sausage. Last week, I called and asked if they would ship a like amount to me here in Arizona. I was called on Monday and informed they were on the way I received them yesterday (Wednesday) My friends and I love the m. Thank you for the prompt service

Nice service, people are very friendly and helpful. A bit more pricey than other places but they’re so kind. Only down fall the hot food looks scary and I see a lot of people eat in the kitchen, not using gloves appropriately and some cross contamination.

Nice selection for a smaller grocery store locally owned. Extremely nice staff and they walk you out to your car carrying all your groceries for you. They have healthy options including a delicious protein pizza crust and other items that I can't find in larger grocery stores. if you need something on a regular basis let them know and they will try to order it for you as well.

Love the fact that it's a local family owned grocery store. The employees are incredibly friendly and helpful. You know you're visiting a small tight knit community when you enter the store. People talking to one another and calling everyone by name, laughing and smiling. Their pizza is phenomenal and probably some of the best in Southern WI.The only problem I had was how out of date a lot of the items are. You definitely have to check expiration dates on anything you purchase.

If you want good steaks, pork chops, or a great roast go to Gempeler's fabulous meat counter also great service. Mmmmmmmmmm don't buy my meat any where else.

We stopped in here on a rainy Saturday, barely afternoon, to the nicest people and the home of Alpine Boy Sausage. Of course we picked up some beef sticks, landjaegers and Shullsburg Co cheese. But the , we hit the deli. Not a regular grocery deli, but a hidden gem of yumminess! Homemade tater tot casserole, chicken pasta casserole, “juicy” (what my husband calls things that are well-buttered) garlic cheese bread - OH-MY! All of it hit the perfect comfort food spot!! “Where the talented school cafeteria ladies work on summer break” is an excellent description. They also had homemade pizza and griddled burgers, which we will have to try next time! Definitely worth a trip out of the way, or if you’re tubing down the Sugar River!

Monticello is lucky to have a grocery store like Gempeler's around. It is a convenient place to go for a quick grocery run when you're in town. I love being able to support a family business, especially when it's run by great people. Although the prices aren't as cheap as a big corporation like Walmart, I think it's important to remember that you're helping real people and their business. Gempeler's also has a great meat selection, I recommend their veal brats! The only downside to Gempeler's is their produce section. There isn't much to offer, and sometimes it isn't the best quality. I do try to dismiss this because I know they try hard and it's a difficult section to keep up on as a small store.

Great owners and employees; small family owned feel and service. I wanted Guiness for St. Patty’s day and Connie with graciousness, had her vender order two cases just for me; made me feel important. You don’t get care like this in big towns. Fan for life.

Has a wide variety of items and are always in stock. Beef is really decent and would eat it again. Specials are also pretty good. Hands down best doughnuts out of every place I've ever been to; way better than dunkin doughnuts. Pick them up when they are fresh and they are even better.

I love going to Gempeler’s and would give 5 starts. Every employee is super nice and helpful, EXCEPT some of the ladies that work behind the deli counter.My husband and I have had several instances of the older ladies in the deli being rude however the most recent one today was:As I had walked to the deli counter one of the ladies said “Hello” very loudly. I politely reciprocated since I shop here often enough, thinking they recognized me. She then proceeded to ask my name and very rudely commented that she was not saying hello to me but another customer behind me so why on earth would I say hello. Not only was it incredibly rude of her but it was also embarrassing. Not at all how someone in customer service should treat anyone.

First visit here... was pleasantly surprised at plentiful stock of all the basic necessities. I didn’t expect to find so much in this small town grocery store. Prices were reasonable- many items cost me same or less than bigger stores.

It was pretty disappointing to be asked to leave before I could check the place out because I had a bike and no lock. ended up having to ride to Belville to get some water. This was my second time I've stopped in Monticello and the people in this town seem to not be friendly towards cyclists dispite being so close to the Badger State and Sugar River state trails.
