Friendly, Knowledgeable staff. The BEST selection and prices of any local sports shop. I bought a battery powered ice auger here and saved myself $170 from other area sport shops. They also threw in an extra battery at no charge.

Apparently there is a trend. Wish I would have read the previous reviews first. Ordered a Minn Kota transom mount trolling motor that was on sale on the 18th from their website. Received confirmation from them of the purchase that included they would notify by email when it shipped. Checked their site this morning because I had not received shipping notification yet, only to find out they cancelled the order. No notification of cancelation was sent to me. Upon contacting the company to find out why, I was told that the package was too big, UPS and FedEx would not ship it. I have had much larger packages delivered to me by UPS and FedEx in the past. If you don't intend on shipping an item, make sure your website states local pickup only.

Went on line and used the shop pay to purchase an item. Received a call from Jeff the owner and he did not know how it worked so he did not want to fill my order that I was approved for. Seeing as I was next door at an appointment I went over and discussed this with him. He told me he never heard of this just pay with a credit card. So I showed it to him and then he said why would you want to pay over time for that item. Then he said there are no credit card numbers or bank account numbers and something about him getting hit with a 6% fee but yet if I would have used my credit card he would have charged me a 3.75 % fee. In short if you are not going to honor a payment method TAKE IT OFF YOUR WEBSITE!

I really like this bait shop. The owner is friendly and helpful. Had some bow issues and did everything he could. The shop is well stocked and is fast to get your bait. Just a good group of people. Boat parking is great

This is the best Up North bait and tackle shops. Quality and quantity here. Good assortment of everything fishing related. Great muskie suckers / live bait. Knowledgeable staff for sure. It's my stop on my way to my "spot"

I bought a new rain jacket and rain pants for my daughter last week. The set in total was about $400. Unfortunately, the first time my daughter tried to zip up her pants the zipper fell off. I took the pants back over to the store and showed the owner and asked if he would exchange. He said “I’m sorry, that’s not my problem, you need to contact the manufacture”. He wasn’t willing to be helpful whatsoever. Then on top of it, his final comment to me was “next time, make sure your daughter doesn’t wear her high heals”. What the hell kind of comment is that for my 13 year old daughter? This guy doesn’t deserve to be a business owner or represent the Minocqua community.

Poor experience here. The guy behind the counter was really rude. This was my first time in the store. I am also new to ice fishing. I asked the guy if he knew what the fish were biting on. He replied, how would I know, I'm not ice fishing. This was very obvious as I walked into a bait shop not the lake. As the guy selling the bait he should know what others are buying. As someone whl has foshed for years, i am an avid bait shop visitor. Every bait shop owner ive interacted with knows exactly how to respond to someone wanting to know what bait the fish are currently biting on. He then goes on to tell me I want him to give me the answer so I won't have to be responsible for my own failures. This isn't true at all, I just wanted to know what type of bait to get. It was a very weird and unnecessary interaction. If the guy doesn't like people, he shouldn't be in the bait business. He also made me purchase wax worm as my total didn't reach $10. I support small business, but not one with rude employees.

Went in for first time assuming they had live minnows and owner looked at me all weird like they didn't have live minnows so I asked and rudely was told yes this is a bait shop duh we have minnows. Then going to get minnows was told rudely not to put my container on the tanks and wasn't even going to. Told me very rudely that there are signs that say that. Besides all that had several fatheads that were near dead or all tore up. There really isn't much in that shop and definitely would not go back next time I'm up there. Make sure you go to The Musky Shop instead where 3 times in one weekend I went in there at various hours by various employees and was treated like family by every one.

The owner was so RUDE. We were in there getting new tip ups, bibs, and a camera. You think because we’re spending a TON of money, he would be nicer. NOPE!! He complained at the register because my boyfriend and I were paying separately and also yelled at my boyfriend for getting his own minnows even though there wasn’t a sign. He aggressively took the scoop out of his hands as well. Super nice selection and a very nice women works there but we won’t be going back. It’s a shame.

Fair prices but bad customer service. Received returned shanty when a new one was ordered. Owner refused to provide receipt and insisted item was new. Discovered missing parts and owner will not help telling me to go to manufacturer. Manufacturer won't help without receipt. I will never shop here again.

While vacationing in the area last week, I stopped in to buy a rod, bait and a license. Haven't fished in many years and was looking for tips about the lake we were on and fishing in general. Jeff was extremely helpful and put together a basic rig that fit my very short term needs at a great price. He answered all of my beginner level questions with patience and provided easy to understand instructions that I was able to carry out when I got home. I highly recommend Dewey Catchem and How if you are looking to fish near Minocqua.

I would give a negative if possible. Paid for 3 dozon did not check till.we were at the lake less the 2 dozen. I would avoid at all cost. Check your bait before you pay for it. Very dishonest business owners.

Bought a dozen and a half medium shiners. Paid $11 and some change. Got out to the lake and looked at the minnows and I knew it was off. Counted 3 times, 15 minnows. 2 were crappie minnows, 1 was a very small shiner. 12 were medium shiners. Not worth over $11. The mark up on minnows is ridiculous. Quit counting like your life depends on it, you're not losing money. Go to Kurt's Island, it's way better service.

Had everything I was looking for especially during the summer bite. Fresh crawlers and a great selection of jigs in colors that actually work for walleye and none of the colors that don't. Curated for people who have an idea of what they are doing. Overall this is a good spot to grab some quick supplies for your fishing trip.

I'd like to give the LADY there 5 stars but i seen it happen 2 times here (once to me) where the GUY, after you look at the size of minnows he's got and order some, HE'LL fill your bucket with water then go into the back to get minnows. After i asked HIM why my Shiners came from the back, he gave me a line about how someone put medium minnows in with the Large. I really didn't think too much about it ( i know, my fault ) but when i got on the lake, I had 6 Large, 6 Small, 1 Small Sucker, and 1 Lake Shiner. Not what i wanted.So if you go there, the LADY is a 5 star service, BUT WATCH HIM LIKE A HAWK!!!

I'd recommend you go to another bait shop and avoid this place at all costs. I gave this bait shop a try for the first time this past Saturday 12/22. I walked in and the guy working (I believe it was Jeff) was up front talking to another customer. I brought in my own Frabill bait bucket to get some minnows and suckers. I walked back to the bait area and the guy working came back to help or so I had thought. I asked how big the larger shiners were. He just said "big." I said well can you scoop some up so I can see (it's a bit hard to tell when they are all swimming around in a water tank). So he reluctantly scooped some up for me to look at. I got 1/2 dozen large shiners and 1/2 dozen walleye suckers. I'm then walking up to the front counter with my bait bucket and the guy working says you have a white label on your bucket. I'm thinking to myself, who cares. I'm like yeah... He then says that looks like the bait bucket from this store. I told him no, it's not from this store. This is my bucket and I got this from St. Croix as a promo item for buying a new shanty. He then grabs my bucket and looks at the label since he didn't believe me and acts like I'm trying to steal "his" bucket. Then after looking at the label the guy finally figures out that it says St. Croix on it. At this moment I'm thinking this guy is nuts and is accusing a customer of stealing from his store. No buddy I'm not trying to pull a fast one on you. At that moment I should have just dumped the minnows on the floor and walked out, but I guess I was just in shock about the whole incident. I finally did get up to the counter and asked how the fishing was. All this guy says is I have no idea, I have not been out yet this year. I'm thinking to myself... Well congratulations the new winner of the lack of a personality of the year award. I even bought wax worms from the guy and he still had the conversation skills of a rock. Here I was just hoping I had found a new bait shop to go to, but obviously that is not the case after this horrible experience. I later went to another bait shop and the prices were several dollars less than this place. If I could give a negative star review I would for this place.
