Please read if you don't want your best friend to be treated like this! On November 11, 2023 our Sami, a Golden Retriever had to go to the Rainbow Bridge because of, what I feel was a Bad Diagnosis. I really don't know because I have asked on 3 different occasions for Sami's records and Rockwood has ignored my requests, one time was even in person by the actual vet who saw her! On 11-02-23 I took Sami in because she was not doing very well on her medication, and the Vet assured me that Sami was just fat and she needed to lose weight. I specifically asked her, "are you sure Sami is not sick?" She listened to Sami's lungs, heart, etc. and said she was fine, just fat. The Vet gave me a new medication to try. JUST 8 days later, on 11-10-23 Sami stopped eating. We took Sami in the next day and the "other" Vet did a work up and found what she told me was PYOMETRA and the bacteria and pus filled Sami's uterus and was now in her stomach and Sami needed emergency surgery "yesterday". We made the decision to put Sami to sleep because we did not think she would make the trip to Appleton. Maybe a simple blood test on the 2nd would have shown Sami had an infection going on? I don't know, I am not a veterinarian and again, I still do not have Sami's records and any tests were never suggested to me, which I would have done in a heartbeat! Maybe Sami would still be with us? We left Sami at Rockwood to be picked up and cremated. On Monday I went back to get a refund for the cremation service as we were having Paws at Rest handle the cremation. Rockwood told me they had to charge me a $15 holding fee! I was shocked! First, what I feel was a Misdiagnosis, again, I have no records, then this! All I could say was "HOW DARE YOU!" The vet followed me out of the building with a clipboard, pointing her finger at me saying numerous times "you were told many times about Sami not being spayed" and asked several times where do you want Sabastian's (our Cat) records sent. All she was concerned about was getting rid of me. Sami during her lifetime had seen 3 different Vets and NO ONE ever said it was dangerous not to have her spayed, especially Rockwood. Everyone makes mistakes, an apology would have worked with me, not yelling and blaming me, I depended on them to help Sami. I asked Paws at Rest if we could come to see Sami one more time and he said of course. He called me in the afternoon and said you don't want to see Sami because of the way they threw her in the freezer, Sami's nose was damaged! OMG! I thought Rockwood was very good, I was wrong. My opinion, don't take your pet to Rockwood if you don't want to have your BEST FRIEND treated like trash. I still wake up most mornings very sad, I LOVE and so very much miss you SAMI! Love Gail

I was very pleased with the care that Bella received. All of the staff that we interacted with were wonderful as well. Also, I was extremely happy with what I was billed for the services that she received. At her old vet in Luxemburg, WI it would have cost at least twice what I paid at Rockwood. I will continue to utilize your pet clinic for Bella and any other pets that may come along to our household!

Very impressed with Dr. Caitlin. She was kind, caring and explained options thoroughly. Very pleasant. We loved that she actually got down on the floor with Pearl and gave her treats and distracted her as much as possible from the injections. Nicely done! Love her personality. I had previously gone to two different veterinary clinics in Wausau and left because I wasn’t happy with how they took care of my pets. A friend recommended going to Rockwood, and I have been going there for more than ten years now.My dogs and cats have always received the care and attention they needed, whether it’s for a wellness exam, or a health concern.The exams are very thorough and I never feel rushed. The entire staff is caring and friendly, and they take time to address my concerns and answer my questions. :)
