I adopted a puppy and they were incredibly kind and helpful. It was a very smooth and straightforward process. The adoption prices are very reasonable and the folks who work here are so friendly.

Amazing place that helps stray animals. I have recently trapped a few cats and they were willing to take them off my hands and give them a good life. If they can be socialized they will be put up for adoption. If they cannot, they will be fixed and released as local farm cats. They host adoption services as well and are overall a friendly place with a good cause. Here are the cats I brought in.

I adopted my cat Macchi from this shelter. Awesome experience. Awesome staff. And their prices are very, very fair. Also appreciated how they did background checks, to ensure that all pets go to good homes. Thank you a million.

We rescued two cats from them. Our background check and other paperwork procedure was easy to follow. Friendly staff, clean. Would use again in the future.

I visited this location for the first time today with my mother to adopt 2 kittens and I was very impressed with the professionalism and it looked like they took VERY good care of their animals at this place. Again I only saw the cats section but the staff was super friendly, Robin especially was so informative and helpful for my mother to find some kittens to adopt. I had never been to a Humane Society before and plan to adopt a cat when I can have one, but I was very impressed with how they operated here. I was impressed with the paperwork and agreements you sign up for in the adoption process also. You can tell they care about the animals and who is going to be taking care of them. I love the kittens we adopted today, they have already brought my mother so much joy. I would recommend this Human Society for anyone in that area that is ready to give an animal a well needed home.

I got my little girl from Dunn County Humane Society. My roommate and I found her in the rain, but couldn't keep her. I was in the process of getting an ESA, so I went back to DCHS a month later to get her.People have made comments about how it's unfortunate that I had to pay to get her since I couldn't keep her when we first found her. What they don't realize is how much it costs to do everything covered in an adoption fee.The adoption fee covers:- Spay- Feline leukemia testing- Flea treatment- Microchip- VaccinationsI found a stray kitten a year later, and I ended up paying over $500 for all of the above.Adopting is all around a great choice, and DCHS is a great place to do it!

Very dissapointed at the dishonesty of the staff, we wanted to get another cat as a friend to our current barn cat turned house cat, as well as a new cat for the children. Filled out application online, was honest and told I planned to declaw the new cat, was called by an adoption counselor and told I was approved pending an update to our current cat's rabies shot. (current cat is 100% indoors and not exposed to any other animal) We spent the money to take a healthy cat to the vet to get an unnecessary shot ($75) and called the humane society to notify them. The next day I received a call informing me that they are a no declaw shelter and I cannot adopt a cat unless it is already declawed. I was very frustrated as we had already purchased a new litter box, food, bed, etc... and asked why they were not honest in the first place to which I was told it is clearly listed on their website (which it is not) and that I was informed when I was called initially (which I was not). It was at this point an extremely rude woman got on the phone screaming at me that I am banned from adopting from them and if I ever contacted them again she would contact the authorities, while quoting Minnesota laws. I confronted her and told her we are in Wisconsin and their are no laws preventing me from declawing. She yelled at me not to argue with her, asking me over and over again if I understood I was banned and would have charges pressed on me if I pursued the issue further. Unfortunately the staff would rather have cats living in tiny cages while enforcing their policy (not consistent with State or Local laws) than adopt out to a loving home. Very sad

Had my 3 bassets nails cut. They always treat them well and play with them to keep them calm.

Lovely park, with a big open field/hill and some trees on one of the sides for the dogs to explore. the path around the park is plowed in the wintertime making it perfect to walk year round. There are usually plenty of dogs there to play and socialize with your own little family member.

The website states that they were open from 2-6, but when we stopped in the attendant was very rude when we asked if we could see the cats and said “if you were listening to what I just said “ when we asked a question. Very rude - this is why people just leave and go to a pet store.

The people here are great. My Chihuahua absolutely loves the staff here. I come here to get his nails trimmed and to take him to the dog park.

Super friendly and helpful staff. Everyone is positive and obviously interested in matching good families with good animals. Building is clean and smell-free. They provide a small comfortable room decorated by local children for you to spend some time with adoptees. Very positive experience for the entire family and resulted in a happy healthy new kitty for the family. There are a lot of really cute animals there right now.

The employees are so helpful. They really take the time to screen applicants that want to adopt a pet. I think the love they have for the animals and their well being is phenomenal! The DCHS has a beautiful facility. We adopted a super sweet dog named Roosevelt yesterday! Rest assured, this is his forever home!

Adopted my cat Franco from Dunn County a year ago and I love him so much! He loves his home and is so happy with my other cat and dog. He is very sweet and cuddly when he wants to be lol but amazing humane society for working with me so well last year and even checked in a few months after to see how he was <3

Really disappointed. We have a great cat. Unfortunately he had a sniffle which we asked about. We were told it was just nerves. Turns out he has a sinus infection and bad teeth. When we called to ask for something back, to help cover the cost, they just argued with us. The person on the phone didn't listen.Edit to add: It took my wife and I several anger inducing calls to get them to cover the cat at their vet. Which is fine as it saved us more than we were asking for. Also cats from them seem to have teeth issues. I upped it by a star as they came around.Be careful with what ever animal you look to adopt and get them to a vet right away. I will never adopt from them again and really that's to bad.

I have nothing but good things to say about this shelter. When I wanted to adopt a cat, they were very helpful in matching me with just the right cat. They did a background check on me (even contacted my veterinarian!), which I was glad to see, because it meant that they wanted to make sure their animals went to homes where they would be cared for. How do you think animals end up in shelters - because people don't take pet ownership seriously enough. Adopting a pet shouldn't be as easy as buying something in a store - you need to prove you are a worthy pet parent. Thank you, Dunn County Humane Society, for the fine job you do.

Loved this place! The cats are in smaller cages compared to the ones at the woodbury humane society but they are taken out and socialized everyday, which I absolutely loved. Didn't look at the dog area but they were very helpful when we were deciding between a few cats.

Staff are friendly here but not thoroughly trained. We adopted a cat from here whose age was a very generous guess and she was actually 2-4 years older than what we were told. They sent her home with us without doing the "final health check." Luckily we took her in to see a vet we trusted who informed us that her teeth were so bad she needed a $1,000 surgery to correct it. Thankfully the humane society paid for it as we were not made aware of the condition prior to adoption. But following the surgery, we discovered she had ringworm. That was about a 3 month endeavor to get rid of it, and they kept insisting we go see their vet, Dr. Brakken, who didn't give us appropriate treatment which is why it took so long to get rid of it.We loved the cat we adopted, but she passed away due to bladder cancer. We only had her for 8 months. It's not a bad place to go visit but please be aware that you may bring home an animal with a pre-existing condition that will cost you hundreds to correct.

Brought in lost doggies today. The staff there were very nice to us and to the pups. Immediately checked for chips and brought out some water. Called the available numbers on tags. Posted to Petfinder. I'd be glad of this professionalism and kindness if I were to ever lose my dog.

DCHS is the best no kill/pro life animal shelter in Western Wisconsin. They're very good at finding families for stray, long lost, and abandoned animals. They also provide high quality boarding for their residents. The staff is nice and well trained in maintaining superb health of their residents. The volunteers visit frequently to provide social contact and stimulation for everyone. Highly recommend finding your new family member here.

Went there to help my roommate look at cats to adopt. Her cat recently died and we wanted to look and make sure the cat we chose would get along with our other cat we have and we just don’t understand what we did to deserve being yelled at. Our hearts were broke. We were so excited to meet new cats and bring one home to love. The staff were really rude about answering questions about the cats and didn’t know much about them and when I asked the woman to check she freaked out and said she didn’t have time

They work very hard to find the animals they bring in good homes. I respect the people that work here a great amount, they work with the animals and really try their best to pair them with a good forever home for those animals. Fantastic Humane Society, probably one of the best, (if not, the best) Humane Society in Wisconsin. Hands down.

I adopted a fur baby from here and a week after they called to see how things were. I sent a message about medical issues my baby was having and got a call within an hour! These people truly care about the animals in their care and afterwards! I have nothing but respect and praise for this shelter. I have rescued my entire life and have never come across a place with so many caring people! Thanks you all are amazing!!!

If a review is talking about 144 cats, they obviously are not keeping up to date with this outstanding non profit.DCHS has an extremely high adoption rate, and to my knowledge, currently has less than 50 cats. Are they vigilant in checking out a potential adoptive family? You bet. These cats are there because life has not served them well in the past. The staff's goal is to make absolutely sure that both the cats AND dogs find loving life-time homes.

It is easier to get a passport, vote for president, or get hired by the Federal Government than it is get an animal from the Dunn County Humane Society. Apparently, having your own home and a healthy, happy animal already residing in said home, is not enough for DCHS to allow you to adopt one of their animals. After filling out an application, one phone interview, and them speaking with our current veterinarian on two occasions, they had "more questions" to ask of us before our application would even be placed before the hallowed "director" for consideration. Now I am all for some basic measures to ensure an animal is going to a proper home, but as in any bureaucratic system, it has gone too far at DCHS. The process as we experienced it was too long, too invasive, and quite frankly, insulting. We decided just to get our animal somewhere else, and you should, too.
