This store is dirty, has leaking freezers, inconsistent deli hours, and never has stock of even the simplest, most essential ingredients. There is no excuse in a suburban town like McFarland. Take the extra time and go to Woodmans or a Metro Market.

It’s always something. Last time half our fresh food was rotten a day later. This time I ran in to grab 4 things with my infant. We have a car seat stroller so the wheels pop out. Very convenient when I need to make a quick errand run. I couldn’t find any baskets. Asked an employee and she told me “We only have 1 basket and it’s in-use.” Found out from the community that all their baskets got stolen MONTHS AGO and they refuse to order more to replace them. I have been avoiding this grocery store and going somewhere else for many months. This just reassured me that shopping elsewhere is the best option.

Generally the store has good products but watch the dates. But totally disappointed in this digital coupon system. Last 6 visits had nothing but problems. Never acknowledges the coupon. Now it doesn’t even recognize our pick and save account phone number.

So the main issue I have (unsure of a solution) is the prices of the baked goods, mainly the packaged baked goods that are of the “Pick n Save” brand. Everything in the bakery is $1-2 more expensive than it feels like it “should” be. Paying $5 for 4 muffins seems like price gouging, paying $12.99 for a 9-10” pizza style cookie seems ludicrous. Many of the bakery items such as breads, buns, muffins, I feel this sentiment about.Overall I think the selection of product meets expectations and needs of the people, having the supply of breads, fresh fruits and veggies, a large number of coolers for meats, fish, dairy, breads, and other frozen meals/products.In general when it comes to the “Pick N Save” branded items I would say the prices are being upticked more than necessary, making it less affordable seemingly as often as every other month. Inflation is real, as well as maintaining profits, that doesn’t justify the seemingly “out of nowhere” price increases.Anyway, if you have the means to, I would recommend going to the ALDI in Stoughton, the Woodmans on Milwaukee Street in Madison, or the Super Walmart in Monona. All of those stores will offer either higher quality product selections (ALDI) more selections easily and the same options for cheaper (Woodmans especially, but Walmart is also good).

Kaitlin, always does an awesome job at the self checkout for me. Quickly fixing a problem, or making sure I get my coupon every time. The store is obviously understaffed and the staff doesn't get paid enough. I don't care about smiles and friendly customer service. I care about getting what I want and leaving. The regular staff(I call them regular because I always see them), like Kaitlin who is always there, do what they can with what they have. If everyone else cannot understand the concept of corporate giving the bare minimum to save costs and getting the bare minimum from employees. They need to re-evaluate how they look at the world. Don't hold the employees accountable for corporate's mistakes. Some guy in a suit decided and they get no choice. So yes, things are out of stock, yes there are hardly any checkers, and no, corporate doesn't care. I've been going here since I was a kid. I watched it morph from bustling and well staffed to this sad existence it currently has.Again Kudos Kaitlin, You rock and you deserve a pay raise!!! The five stars are for you not the storeCorporate, get it together you clowns.

Just stopped inside to get some kosher salt. Naturally, they had zero in stock. I feel like every time I go there for a simple ingredient, this store has none. Last time I went there for heavy cream and there wasn't any. This grocery store is by far the worst and most frustrating grocery store I have ever been. I honestly wish this store would just get demolished so I could stop being tempted to go there and just to any of the other stores in the area that doesn't have the same stocking issues.

This is the best grocery store in McFarland! Unless you count kwik trip, Walgreens and the bp that sells meth pipes. In that case it is the 4th best grocery store in McFarland!

They never have what you need and their self checkout card readers never work. I had to leave my groceries there twice this week because the reader didn’t work.

Don’t waste your time and money buying spoiled food from this grocery store. Cream goes bad in a couple days…bread, moldy, meats, stinky…we are done. I called because we just got a new container of half and half, the manager doesn’t care. I didn’t keep my receipt from earlier this week so of course they will not do anything about it.Don’t waste your time.

A few days ago as I entered the store (11 am on a Friday), a woman said, "Don't get a whole cartful, there aren't any checkers!" Yup, only self-check was available. I was there for a short trip, so I just said, "Okay." I didn't need a big cart, but as usual (7/10 times in my experience), there weren't any small ones available. I walked to the other side of the store - none there, either, so I trekked out to the parking lot to retrieve one. I then strolled back in and over to Produce for zucchini and broccoli and there was nothing! There were a few squishy cucumbers and some darkening mushrooms - the whole green section was wiped out. I saw a friend waiting on red onions to be stocked as one employee feverishly emptied the box for customers. She and I commiserated about the state of PNS and I then proceeded to head over to Dairy, noticing several unkempt shelves along the way. Got my other items on the list, ran into other friends (more w/whom to commiserate about our failing Pick n Save) and then, only because I DID NOT want to have to drive to another store for produce, decided to check once again on some fresh stuff. Thankfully, that same poor employee was restocking some zucchini, peppers, etc. Yay! I took what I needed and by the time I got to the checkout - Yay! - there was one lane open! I wasn't in a hurry so I waited behind two other exasperated shoppers as we agreed upon the sad state of affairs at the McFarland Pick n' Save. You get two stars instead of one. I sure hope this place will improve. Luckily Metro Market in Monona, Woodman's and Costco are there for us McFarland residents.

We walked in with our family to get food for our event and "Matt"\"The Manager" seemed to be "Too Busy" to help us and told us to figure it out. The other employees were very helpful. I hope he doesn't treat other customers like that. Very rude.

Staff at self check outs are very unhelpful(often teens standing chatting or on phones), prices are the highest in this area( will save money driving somewhere else), items are often out of stock. The only thing that keeps it in business is the location this town has nothing else.

Pick service for groceries…terrible. Asked for 6 lemons got one. Asked for 6 apples…got one…..just a few examples….it took over and hour once we arrived ( at the time they suggested) to pick up items….system down etc…..and the shopping service isn’t good. It makes you feel like you are being scammed when they swap out organic ( most expensive) items than choosing the one selected. Overall experience. Fail.

This location has gotten ridiculous. I went Saturday at one and had 5 baking potatoes to choose from. The produce section was a joke. Tried to buy regular yogurt. None to be found. I have to check expiration dates on everything. Last week on Saturday there were no checkers. Everyone had to use self checkout. Where do you put the groceries after they have been scanned. Everybody is now going to metro market in Monona. Pretty sad situation

We like the fuel points and other deals. Self check outs available. Good bakery and floral sections

That's it I'm done! Everyone has to do self checkout now. I stood in line for that and of course several people had problems. We waited for people to come over to fix them and had to bag everything ourselves. I asked why they don't have a cashier and the young lady said that they're not busy enough! If I want poor customer service I'll go to Woodman's. At least it's half price.

They did a great job on a custom made cookie cake for me. Only problem was it didn't have a price tag when I went to check out and the night staff wasn't sure how to ring it up! They probably charged only 1/3 to 1/2 the price, which was nice. The staff is mostly young people, but everyone is very nice and as helpful as they can be. Been going there about 3.5 years now.

I always bring my own reusable bags but was so impressed that they had replaced plastic bags with paper in their self checkout lines the last time I was here- I mean both are available but let's not encourage plastic by having all the carriers loaded with the plastic and the paper only available on a shelf by the cashier. I was told today when all the plastic was back that they had just run out so had used paper for a short time.😤😤

Used to be a great little store. Now it's just a group of young kids who are to busy flirting to actually do their job. Cashier sitting on counter as he rings the lady in front of me up. Will go to Monona

I can see were a lot of concerns come from with a lot of the staff being underage, there under staffed, and under stocked but we have to understand that in these times most people don't won't to work at a grocery store (i mean do you wanna work at a grocery store?) I know some staff personally and none and I mean none that I have talked with like working there. Most of the time they have kids getting a job there to earn a quick buck so they don't really care about there job, then there are some that try there hardest with what they are provided but they have bad days too.We need to understand that theses workers are PEOPLE, they have bad days too, just as you and I do (even if they are kids).A lot of the staff is underage so you have to understand if you have wait when you have alcohol or need something reduced significantly, they proubly have to check with a manager to make sure it's ok if they do that. They are also proubly under trained which I think is a common thing I see there. Then the stocking issue, again they are under staffed (or so I've been told) so products don't always go out on time or shipments haven't come in (again or so I've been told). Please just be patient with the staff and know that most are trying their hardest.P.S. I use to work at a grocery store so I know how hard it can be.

Finally got a manager to open a checkout lane in McFarland, but 5 minutes later she called to a customer waiting for help with "self check", "Sorry, this wouldn't have happened if I hadn't opened a register." I had 1 item to buy separately for a friend, but she left it, saying "Sorry, I have to help other people, too.". One item! And she would have had to help me (age 75) regardless of which line I was in! Short staffing shouldn't equal rudeness.

They are out of basic items a lot and up until a week ago if you asked them to shave your deli meat thin, it never was. I went there today and they were out of eggs except the organic kind. The last time I was there they were out of cucumbers. The time before that they didn't have any rotisserie chickens. They are always out of rotisserie chickens though. If you can go to the one in Monona, do it.

Horrible never has anything stocked while the employees stock s’mores and chocolate bottles when we’re you gonna stock actual food this grocery stores ordering manager needs to be fired everytime I’ve came in here for months they never have everything I need half is usually not stocked and every person I speak to is clueless and can’t help no wonder the shelves aren’t stocked ridiculous!

The staff have always been very friendly and willing to help. The product selection isn't always the greatest especially with produce. Very limited organic produce as well as a lot of times I have gone in, produce is getting old. I would love to see a damaged or imperfect produce section as I would be willing to buy some of the older produce if it was discounted but there is no way I would be willing to pay full price for the damaged or old produce that is on the shelves.

2 times this week I went to find nobody at check out. Apparently we need to spend our hard earned money and do their job for them…I have this happen again I will never set foot in this location ever again…Pick n save get your $&/“ together and have your employee do the work not customers!!!!!!!!!!!

Prices are a bit higher than Woodman's but selection is decent enough. Fruit and veggies always good quality. Can be lines at times as there's often only 2 registers open but self checkout is always available if you've only got a few things.

Possibly the worst store ever since Kroger made the purchase. They take away all normal brand items, hike up the prices and staff it with completely dysfunctional employees. 12 years we have shopped here, knowing full well it was cheaper down the street yet wanting to support the local economy. Now we can't even get what we eat, pay way over the norm and we are serviced at check out by people who can barely speak much less work. Just go somewhere else. A total joke. No Kroger, a gift card won't make me change my review, so don't bother with the offer.

This market is getting better and better, though I'd like to see even more organic products (like salsa) on the shelves. I like the wide aisles, especially because I need to use the electric carts. And I greatly appreciate the availability of these carts and the fact that they are always charged and in good condition.

This location needs some serious attention from management. On top of needing some serious structural updating (the freezers need some tlc), the selection is fairly limited, the staff are composed largely of high-school aged kids and the majority of them care more about socializing/ gossiping about school and other friends over doing their actual jobs; this seems to possibly contribute to the sparse stocking of items and so for a quick go to it’s an alright store but don’t go there counting on the guarantee of finding something.
