I always enjoy going into this store. Friendly staff, clean environment, lots to look at. The store has been around for a long time and I hope it continues to thrive in competing with the big pet store name in town! They do have more live animals than the big store!

Lots of fish to choose from, mostly tropical, some salt water. Other animals available as well(lizards, spiders, etc) The variety changes . The last time we only were shopping for fish so I don’t recall all the other animals. They also sell pet food and other supplies. We like supporting a small local business.

Had no issues with my old fish. I bought a shebunkin goldfish from this place, looked good at first. About a week into having it my old fish starts looking lethargic all of a sudden. Start noticing this white cloudyness was forming on my old fish and I started treating my whole tank for disease from what the person recommended. Soon after they both died. Checked my water parameters and they were normal so I know it wasn’t a water quality issue. Don’t think I will be purchasing a fish from this place again as this has caused me to loose my fish that I had for 2+ years.

Do not buy fish here. Owner was rude, we bought multiple fish and brought them home only to have them die off one by one. Petco may not have the best variety, but at least they have a return policy.

We have had great experiences at Colonial Pet Shoppe when we have purchased pets, picked up pet food, have had questions etc., but we would not recommend the small animal overnight/extended leave care service they provide. We called ahead of time to make sure it was okay to use the service for our rabbit and to ask questions. When we came to pick him up after 4 nights away he had no hay left and the water dish was not just dry, but bone dry. His demeanor was off and we gave him water as soon as we got home, which was only a few min. We have a video of him drinking water for 1 min and 20 seconds STRAIGHT, not to mention the back and forth to his water dish after that. We did bring this to their attention. They assured us he was cared for while we were away, but we decided it would be best to post the facts of the situation in a review. Like we said, we had other great experiences, but this instance the cage was a mess, their was no food left or water, our bunny was off, and all of the supplies that we packed for him were barely used, including the water we sent along for him because he is not drinking tap water. With that all being said, we would give them a 5 star in other areas, but this review is for their small animal care service they provide. We will never chance using that service again.

Great place to find large bird toys that are hard to find elsewhere! We drive here from our town just to buy toys for our Blue and Gold macaw and he always loves them. I do wish they carried more large bird supplies like Lixit bottles, etc.

I have just purchased 50 super worms and 10 dubias from their store and I went straight home, dumped by them in the bin, to find out that I only had 23 live ones and several dead ones but nowhere near 50. I called their store to see if it was a simple mistake and they were adamant that they gave me 50. If you purchase feeders from the store you might want to double check how many you have or double count them before you leave or pay.

Dimly lit, scarcely staffed. I helped the lady move boxes because she didn't have help. No problem there.I don't enjoy any place where the animals aren't properly tended to.However, there's always room for improvement ✌🏽

They have been awesome I used to own a pet store and there's only two stores I go to now They are the main one and then I go to a aquarium store in Plymouth but these guys they are amazing they're friendly they know what they're talking about it's not like going to a box store where they have no clue what's going on. We have ordered rats from them We have ordered hamsters specific types of hamsters we have them they're great wonderful animals There's nothing bad I can think of to say about this place they're awesome They get the 100% award because they're good they're knowledgeable and they know what they're doing.

I was finally ready financially to get a bird friend again. Although I usually bird rescue, I was happy to hear that there was a place in town that has just what I'm looking for at a now kinda thing. First, the person who helped us did not know the kind of bird and we were guessing by a sign. This individual had no knowledge besides to use Google. Do you want the wings cut so there's not a bunch of flying right away? We say yes! Take the bird home and recognize that something doesn't seem right after the individual cut his feathers. We called back and they wanted me to bring it back in. My thought was you did this in the first place, why would I leave him with you? My second thought was I don't trust that these people wouldn't switched him out? I was told that the blood feather was cut and it will heal he should be fine. So time keeps going I ask my friend again, what's up with Tuco? She says he probably had an Infection and he's hurting mom. So I called back and told them that they made a mistake. Long story short, they took the bird to the vet barley said sorry and that was it. What a ༼ ಠل͟ಠ༽ˢʰᵃᵐᵉReally not my kind of pet store

I love this store. Everyone is helpful and nice. I have bought rabbit, fish, birds, and even a tarantula from here and all were healthy. I also buy all my fish tank treatments and supplies, dog toys, frozen Brime shrimp, crickets, bird food and supplies, rabbit bedding and so much more.

If I could give a 0 star I would. I purchased 3 fish about 2 weeks ago. Everything looked good for the 1st couple days. After that the fish started dying. Had my tank for about 2 years and never had a problem. Would not recommend getting fish from them. It killed every single fish in my tank.

I usually don’t have a problem with this store but this time it might be my last time stopping there I purchased a ferret and called the store an hour later after getting home with it to ask for advice which the lady did give me but for the next 2 days after that call his symptoms got worse I called the store they took my info and said they would tell the manager to get ahold of me and it’s been 3 days and still no one has contacted me about my issue and now I had to take my ferret to the vet because of the issue which they could have helped pay for hopefully someone from the store sees this and can maybe call me back like I was told they would. Very unsatisfied they need more education on ferret up keep

This place has been a lifelong favorite of mine. I no longer live in town, but stop in when I can. I have always enjoyed checking out the lizards and playing with the guinea pigs. We used to bring our birds in for nail clippings. One of my favorite long running small businesses.

I've gone there a number of times for fish bought a used tank there too. And tried really hard to like the place because I want to by local and not a big box store. Being a regular and spending a lot of money there the staff ALWAYS acted like I was inconveniencing them. The other evening my wife and I went in buy some but the workers were so rude this time I just walked out. I am not going back there again. There's other places around with better service.

A quaint little shop across from where the old Shopko was. They have an excellent and affordable selection of bird toys and food as well as a beautiful aquarium section. We were so surprised at the pets they had in stock and it seemed like each one would be sold to a trust worthy home.

I go here to get supplies for my Ball Python, it is the only place I can get Live Rats to feed him. They are friendly and helpful and carry a nice line of products for all types of pets. A Great Family owned Pet Store.

Always shop local when we can, and Colonial reminds us why every time we visit. Consistently better quality than big box stores, and often better prices / value. Definitely our favorite local pet shop.
