I’ve been going here for 13 years. Over the last 3-4, it has gone downhill faster than a cheetah on meth. I went today. Halfway through ringing up $80 of stuff the cashier finally looked up and said “hey how’s your day” like it was gonna end her whole life. Then a “manager” came over to bag my stuff and when I got home- big surprise- they didn’t give me all my items. Way to go “manager”!They constantly ring up advertised sale prices incorrectly, they have absolutely terrible customer service and the managers strut around like they’re king tut of the fruit isle.This place is a dump.I’m going to Aldi & Pick n Save from now on.

I have enjoyed Hy-Vee since I was a little one and my grandparents used to take me there for breakfast all the time.Now that I am older I depend on them for having the best brand of Gluten-Free products, Good Grace's. Seriously the best brand for pasta by far. It's the perfect combo of corn and rice and it has the best taste. I recommend for anyone new to the gluten free game.My wife loves Hy-Vee for their extensive bakery (especially their fresh bread). She also loves the Chinese food they sell there in the hot food section. It's affordable and you get a good amount of food for the price.They have a lot of dreat deals and their specialization sections like their deli, bakery, prepared foods section, the market grill, and a pretty sweet meat counter.Those location also has a Wahlburgers but we have nor has the pleasure of having it as I still think it's over priced lol. But it looks yummy.We love that they carry a bunch of Midwest specific brands that other stores do not that we love cooking with.I have bought my wife flowers from here multiple times and it always is fairly priced and they're good at short notices.Their multicultural sections in the grocery department is very extensive which is surprising since it's not a huge of a store as a Woodmens or Walmart. Prices always seem higher at Hyvee so I don't shop here unless I have a coupon for a specific item. Popular spot for many though and it's conveniently located on the Eastside. I do like the huge cheese selection available though especially for a nicer plate of special cheese.

I used to live near this grocery store and went there all the time. I loved it!!I have since moved out of the area but I still occasionally go past 2 or 3 grocery stores just to come to this one.They just seem to care more about the customer and then other stores do.

Prices are average, friendly employees, but check out can be a frustrating waste of time and energy. Twice now when using the self checkout the system has shutdown and I have had to start over after scanning 95% of my groceries. I can unbag everything and start over, or I can go wait in a long line. Having a difficult time thinking Hy-Vee is my store which hurts because we share a hometown.Woodman's here I come.

Overall Hyvee has been a great, go-to grocery store for me. I used to use their delivery service regularly (until they started charging). We love the selection, variety and flow of the store at the Fitchburg location, but recently moved and are not finding the East Wash location as comprehensive. Many of the items we used to easily get in Fitchburg we can’t get here or they are often out of stock. The layout of the store is not ideal. I do hope they expand their health marketplace section, frozen fruit selection, and fresh produce selections. Prices continue to rise which is challenging. Often, all the self checkout lanes are closed off but unclear why (though I do miss regular checkout). There’s definitely potential to improve this location and I hope they consider investing in it. Thee best place to get cakes!!!!! They top walmart hands down, make this your place for cake... QAULITY CAKES! YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED! The whole store is QAULITY from clean bathrooms to never moldy bad produce this is one of the GOOD TO BE TRUE STORES BUT ITS TRUE! LOL

So, was in desperate need of cake Sat after other local store cancelled my order hr before pickup. After 4 different stores, ended up here. Was specifically looking for a white cake with white frosting & very little decorations (had cake topper to put on it). Finally found one that would be suitable. Except, although it was labeled "white cake", it was not. It's very much a yellow cake (which the birthday boy isn't a huge fan of...hence the specific white cake seeking). They should be more cautious in their labeling.

Every time I go to this store there's something new that they are doing to ensure you have the most frustrating experience possible. This time there were ZERO manned checkout lanes open and only two small self checkouts (none of the full self checkouts for over 12 items) at 7pm for all of the customers. At least one item always rings up incorrectly due to awful price management. Highest prices in town on literally everything I purchase despite signs everywhere claiming low prices. Not open late anymore. Can only leave out of one exit despite no signs warning you of this on the doors when you enter. Not worth the effort anymore.

I am from out of town and heard good things about Hy-vee, so I wanted to try it out. The employee who took my order and checked me out was extremely rude and dismissive. She was an older caucasian women with blonde hair and a red shirt. She was rushing me while I was ordering and I messed up my order. I am giving 2 stars because I addressed my issue with the store manager and he was very nice and concerned about my experience. She needs to be coached on how to give proper customer service, being kind isn’t that hard

Went in to inquire about purchasing a custom cake for an employee leaving work. After browsing though there pre-designed cakes and books for ordering there was nothing uniquely eye catching to me. A younger cake designer walked me through the sizes and frosting choices and I decided just to go for it! I requested a specific message and just asked for it to be very bright, colorful, and with a variety of flowers. When I picked up the cake the following morning, - I was completely blown away with design. This cake designer/artist did an absolutely amazing job!!! I truly recommend ordering from them and recommend letting the experts design something for you.

Had to come on and shoutout the Hy-Vee bakery! They have such a wide selection of treats from macaroons, croissants, cakes, multiple loaves of bread, tarts- I could go on! And the staff is always so friendly. I personally LOVE their croissants (comparable to the ones I get in France tbh) and the staff is always willing to package a few for me since I don’t need the six they usually are pre-packaged in which I greatly appreciate. Also, my family has gotten our birthday cakes here for years. 🙏🏾

Do not use the shipping service. I am currently dealing with a package that came up missing from this hyvee locations usps hub, imagine all the surveillance cameras and they couldnt find my package that never left.. ive talked to corporate 3 times, filed a police report. Either my package magically disappeared.. or the cameras arent really working.. so yeh.. sneeky employees.. or magical packages.. i bet the cameras will find the truth, if they work..Update: 2/22/2024Hyvee corporate has still FAILED to do anything. I will continue to take this issue to social media, and leaving reviews. Untill i reach a conclusion how my item dissappeared from their store

Will go out of my way to avoid shopping here. If you think you’re not paying enough for your produce, for some reason this store has the highest prices around. And every single time I’ve used the self checkout, something has gone wrong and there is NEVER anyone anywhere to be found to help me out. Twice now I’ve abandoned my groceries completely because I just can’t find someone to help me! Honestly no reason for me ever to come back here.

I don't know all Hy-Vee's in Madison, but the east side one on E. Washington Ave. is very nice to shop.Aisles are wide & spacious, rarely super crowded. An airy feel about the store. Well lit, everything laid out nicely & signage is good, IF you are observant & look for the signs & use them, you can find most all your needs without map or worker guidance.When you do need advice on availability or location of product, store staffers are very approachable, helpful & friendly.There's something for all: usual produce, bakery, meat/seafood, wine/spirits, dairy, grocery/canned goods, dry goods, housewares, pharmacy, health/beauty aids, salad bar, Asian restaurant served hot fresh, hot foods including pizza slices, well stocked meals/sandwiches to go, deli section with lots of meat, salads, cheeses & couterie & all those rare cheeses, olives, international specialties that real connoisseurs crave, & much more.It's actually pleasing that so much selection fits in a smaller than megamart size venue, with ample space to amble about & maneuver a cart, especially with little ones in tow.For a large selection grocery in Madison area, I'd have to give it high marks for cleanliness, selection, availability, helpful/friendly staff; overall 4.5 of 5 stars. It's decent priced, but a little more than some may prefer, that's why it's not 5 of 5. But it has decent prices, & very good sales prices, which are ongoing & updated weekly.

Hi-Vee never disappoints. Clean place. They have an amazing selection of every type of food. The bathrooms are clean. They even have a Caribou Coffee in the store! Thanks again to all the staff that made my experience so great!

HIRE MORE PEOPLE PLEASE! They are always short staffed or have staff who are just standing around looking around and gossiping. Noone ever is availble to help and when they do they lack customer service skills. Everyone is always frustrated, irritable, and red in the face juggling everything. TERRIBLE STORE MANAGEMENT

It's getting harder and harder to enjoy shopping at Hy-Vee. Prices aren't that amazing compared to other regular grocery stores. Corporate HyVee ended their relationship with Kwik Trip, so now it's a huge pain to use gas rewards, and my local store in Madison put in barricades *inside the store* so you can only get out one way. Pick N Save is just as convenient, usually has better deals, and I just put my phone number in the POS machine to trigger rewards and coupons.

I really DO WISH that they would do something about the constant abuse of parking in the fire lane by lazy people who feel entitled to special parking right up near the store; that's better than parking reserved for folks with disabilities, and it shouldn't happen.I get the feeling that some of the reviewers of this store, especially those who cannot spell (isle instead of aisle, for instance), are thinking of the nearby Aldi store. My partner has been complaining for months about the stores we'd been shopping at - Pierce's at Northport and Sherman, and Copps on Shopko Drive. Coming from Texas, he really liked a chain there called "HEB." I find the Hy-Vee open, with a great selection. We especially like the cheeses and produce, but my partner also makes a visit to the seafood counter each visit, where he's enjoyed mussels, oysters, and salmon so far. I'm disappointed that they don't carry my brand of yogurt, but gee, that's kind of a teeny complaint. We also found the liquor selection impressive in a grocery store, plus the fact that they accept credit cards - which Woodman's DOES NOT accept. Found a sparkling rosé wine from the south of France which my partner likes better than a bottle of Veuve Cliquot which cost more than triple the price. I have consistently been impressed by the employees, who show that they are genuinely invested in the store, and want to be helpful to customers. I just find myself wondering if all of the young employees are making a decent wage, but haven't built up the gumption to ask one what the starting hourly wage is. I've also noticed complaints about parking and not enough cashier lines open. My experience has ONLY been positive on this. NEVER had any problem parking, and have been impressed at how short the waiting time is to load groceries up and check out. We use the pharmacy at our doctor's office, but it is nice to see a good selection in that department of the story, too.Three years later, I still REALLY LIKE THIS STORE. Update: I went there two days ago, and find that they've joined the 21st century in another way. My former partner loved everything about Hy-Vee, except that they did not offer self checkout. I don't care for that, but I know a lot of people seem to prefer to "do it themselves." Hy-Vee's layout looks as sparkling new as it is, and the equipment is located very close to the main entrance/exit, near the produce department. I have only shopped once since it was installed, and since it "isn't me," I can't tell you how well it works. But I'll stop in for something minor and try it out, then give an opinion beyond this one.

I ordered a cake for make to order pickup it was an angel food cake for almost 20 dollars it was incredibly small! And the cake wasn’t even good it tasted like it was made days ago! Was truly disappointed

You might think to yourself… A grocery store? For my big beautiful wedding?!? No way… But you would be wrong.We used Hy-Vee for our catering, bakery and floral and don’t have any complaints.Catering-Oven Roasted Chicken, Sliced Beef Au JusJeff and Jen were the 2 people we dealt with and they were both great. Very friendly, professional and courteous.-Food was delicious and served at the right temperature.-They were punctual and made a minimal imprint (no giant truck coming in as a disruption)-Were helpful and understanding with some last minute changes-Service crew was great- They served my wife and I and had the buffet service without flaw. Great job cleaning up . Dirty dishes did not sit around long.-We opted to have them save and chill the leftovers which has been great reheatedBakery-Gourmet cupcakes and small 2 tier cakeI forget the names of who we worked with, there were a few. They were all very helpful and accommodating-Everything was delivered and staged beautifully- Cupcakes and cake were both perfect. Moist inside, but not underdone. Frosting was delicious and sweet.-Cake decoration was exactly as requested. They added the flowers and cake toppers beautifully as requested.FloralBouquets, corsages, and a few arrangements for the ceremony.Floral manager helped us (I forget her name)-Met in person to discuss vision, colors and flower types-Everything came out beautiful as requested-We did not get them delivered- In hindsight, I wish we had.Hy-Vee was great for everything in our wedding. Plus, if you use all 3 departments, you get a discount! After using them for our beautiful wedding, they are clearly more than “just a grocery store”. Thanks for everything!

They had flies crawling on their bakery, and didn't throw out the doughnuts from that case when I let them know... Definitely avoid all the unwrapped/unsealed/in-house made products here.I often find moldy fruit and bread, dairy and "fresh" meat days past the "sell by" date, even packaged meat & sausages so far past the sell by they're rancid.Is you have to shop here, really pay attention to produce appearance and general expiration dates. Do not assume products are fresh.

I love Hyvee! They are 24 hours in Madison. They have some of the best bakery and deli products around town. They are a unique grocery store in that they usually serve buffets and cafeteria style lunches/dinners . And some locations have a little restaurant and bar inside. You can eat at the store if you like.I've been fond of them since they came to the east side of Madison. They also specialize in health foods. I buy all my gluten free food here.
