Dean D ( sales) was honest and open.All in all a pretty good experienceBought a 10 year old used pontoonFelt as if I had to " push to buy it" unlike most sales placesThe service department was supposed to go over the boatThat was a tad sketchy, The trailer lights did not work and did not have tie down straps to transport , the cover was not fully snapped.Who ever cleaned up of the boat did a better than expected job however. Guess I was not wowed but satisfied.Then again did not spend 20,000$

This is the second time I’ve had to rent a Penske truck from them to move, and they’ve gone above & beyond both times. I accidentally made my reservation for the wrong day & they were able to find a similar vehicle for me to use and kept the same price.

A top notch Mississippi marina located at the top of pool 8. There’s a beautiful harbor, a nice restaurant , ample parking, and big boat services, which are cool to just watch. But don’t bother fishing off the docks for nice gills, seasonal crappie or lots of bass. There are no fish here. Try Winona. Yep. That’s the ticket.

We're only going on our 2nd year with American Marine in La Crosse, but so far, we love it! Office staff are top-notch, Matt and the maintenance crew are responsive, straight-forward, and overly accommodating. The facilities are up-to-date, clean and well kept. Other boat owners in on our dock are respectful, inviting and always willing to lend a helping hand if needed.

Terrible customer service. Called to ask about service on a '93 Johnson outboard that starts but won't keep running. Was told immediately it'd be $1,000 to fix. Then when asked about a replacement, was told that would be $1,000. Lots of attitude, no attempt to sell anything specific obviously not interested in my business. Happy to oblige

Called for service and asked if I could bring it and leave it the water, they said yes. I get a phone a couple days later asking for a trailer even though they said they didn't need one. They did fix the bilge, but now my brand new stereo doesn't work and they just said that they never touched it and took zero responsibility for it. I was told it would be back in the water as I left it and it was still on their trailer. I'd leave them a 1 star but they did fix what I brought it in for. Everything else was terrible! They definitely lost a customer.

Great staff at the gas dock! Supper friendly and hard working. Had my older parents with me and talked the young man’s ear off while he worked on adding fuel to my larger boat. He was supper nice and really provided great customer service service. Will be back again!

Recently bought a new pontoon during the boat show, I worked with Sam and his customer service was excellent. Sam worked a great price on the boat with a few add ons and always returned calls or an email in a timely manner, I would highly recommend working with him on a purchase. They did give a pretty low offer on my trade but I decided to sell it myself, that was the only bad thing about the experience of buying, other than that I would definitely return for a new boat when the time comes.

We have used the Trempealeau Marina for years now. The docks are deteriorated in many areas and need maintenance, the weeds are awful, and our docking price got nearly doubled in one year AND we don't qualify now for a rewards card because we won't pay the big increase in parking lot storage fee from one year to the next.We supported this place when it was less than half full. Now it's full and we don't matter much. Wish the upkeep on this one was up to snuff with the La Crosse facility.

[Update October 2018]: I have taken my boat to American for both the 100 and 300-hour services. Both times the entire process, from making the appointment, to the work being done has handled professionally and in a timely and quality manner. I trust them enough that I'm willing to haul my boat from southeastern Wisconsin to Lacrosse to have the work done. [Summer 2017] I had a minor bilge pump issue/question with my new Lund boat, and being 1000 miles from my dealer, needed to find someone local. The folks at American were kind enough, on a very busy Friday, to have a tech take a quick look and in about 5 minutes he had diagnosed, fixed it and answered my questions. Saved the rest of my boating week.

This review is loooong overdue! After no results trying over and over to get some major issues taken care of with my used Nitro, I had heard very positive things about American marine in LaCrosse and have purchased several axles for boat trailer repair for our customers' through our Autocare Center I took my boat there. Matt and the service team are truly the best. Within a day I was called and given an estimate to repair several major issues. Although I was still leery after many failed attempts at other marina's I told them to proceed. All I can say is that my 20 year old Nitro is running and performing as NEW! Thank you so very much for all of your support and technical expertise! You are very referred by myself and our fishing group and it is definitely worth the 1 hour drive! You have made our 2x a year fishing trips the most enjoyable yet!

We are slipholders at American Marine and get our boat serviced there. The staff is very friendly, helpful and competent. We really like the location and the security of the American Marine docks. We also like the location as far as the access point to the river. We had need for a major repair to our boat and had American Marine do the work. It was done well and per the promised schedule. They also have a great supply of marine parts with discounts for slipholders. We are glad we chose American Marine!

I bought a pontoon boat in may of 2020. I was assured that they go through the motor and all mechanical parts to make sure all I had to do was "get beer and drive to the lake.". Well, I took there word for it which was a mistake. We started the motor up before I bought it and it ran ok but could only run for a few seconds since it was out of the water. My first trip out with it, it wouldn't run correctly at low idle. A problem but one I figured I could fix myself. As we were driving it for a couple hours, it wouldn't turn the prop anymore. Stranded in the middle of the lake, I called american marine and they had no idea what I could possibly check to see what was wrong. My cousin and I finally found a forum that we could check the linkage between the upper and lower units. It was disconnected. So apparently their mechanics put it back on without tightening it or they didn't mess with it at all. Our next trip with it, the motor ran worse at all throttle positions. I called and complained again which they sent me to a branch of theirs in holcomb. They had to go through the engine and clean the carbs which they told me they already did. At the end of the season, I changed the oil in the motor and it looked like it had not been changed for a long time, another thing they told me they took care of. So all in all, I would not trust them at their word for anything. They were either knowingly false about what they were telling me or they don't know what their mechanics are doing in the shop. Either way, buyer beware.

My wife and I have had our pontoon docked at American Marine for the past four years. Access on the docks is always great, very clean bathrooms, and the service department is always helpful and does their best to take care of all my needs. Plus, they give boat owners appreciation events that we enjoy. Best place to dock in the La Crosse area.

I bought a boat from American Marine in 2011 and had a good experience. Recently I was in the market for another boat and contacted American Marine through their website. I mentioned what boat I was interested in, said I was a returning customer, etc. I received the auto reply email saying they had received my request and that they would be contacting me regarding my inquiry. I never heard anything back, no reply. Why have a 'contact us' on your website if you don't respond to customer's inquiries? You are in the business of SELLING boats. I would have expected a reply with an hour but nothing.I even recommended American Marine to a friend. He went to look at a boat, met with the sales guy, made an offer and never heard back. He called the salesman and texted him several times and no reply. No counter offer, no reply, nothing. Again, hard to believe you want to actually SELL boats. This is the heart of the boating season. I would think you would be chomping at the bit to get interested buyers. Guess not.

We started a Warranty claim in May due to cracks in the hull we found with the Dubuque dealership and hadn't heard back from them at all. I emailed the person I started the claim with and hadn't heard back after 2 months so I decided to call and talk to her. When I called I was told she had just stepped out and was it ok if she called me back. 4 days later and no callback. I called her back on her direct line and no answer, so I left a detailed voicemail asking her to call me back. A week later still no response! I then called back and asked to talk to a Manager who said she will refer it to their Service Manager. That was Friday morning and nothing yet.

My wife stopped in to look a boat listed for sale on their site. It turned out that it was more boat than what my wife and were prepared for. We did however continue to look at more units both new and used. The sales associate told us he has a used one he would like to show us, I told him that if it was the one I was thinking of it they were overpriced as it didn't book out. He asked where? I told him NADA and GUC both said he was $3,000 to 4,000 over priced. His response was "I find that hard to believe as we use the NADA to price our crafts". He also indicated they were open to offers. On the following Monday I did Make an offer on the unit described above, Stock #HF0070A. Included in my offer was the NADA Value Report, which we were told they use in assessing the sale price of their boats, and the report reflects that they are right at $3,700 over book value. So they rejected our offer, They supplied no counter offer and said I copied and paste, "That is where we will be at a price. When we take our boats in we spend 3+ hours on the engine making sure they will be working well enough to put our name on." My wife inquired about the statement that NADA is used to determine the value and she received the following response, "We are fully aware of nada and use it. We go through the engines upon trade in and go through it and replace anything wore or broken. Our price is at $13,995.00, now we are willing to wiggle a bit on the price, but not that much. No counter offer was given or additional info to support their asking price. My point for this Review is to let people looking for a new or want to upgrade their boat for themselves or family please use caution when dealing with these people my wife and I feel as though they were NOT forthright and transparent in their business practices.
