Lol my hometown is not too far away, I have not lived in WI in over 20 years and every time I come home I take a drive here because I have been wanting a puppy for years. I always come in and bring my mom with me. This time I feel closer to getting one considering I've temporarily moved back. I'd always just look and admire but this time I asked to hold one because they had a Irish doodle that I only see online and have tons of pictures of so I had to hold it. A little pricey for me but they do have financing available and you could walk out not paying anything if approved. Highly suggested. Very clean establishment

Went in to just pass some time for the day and ended up with the sweetest baby boy, the staff was very helpful and friendly, I had many concerns in regards to purchasing due to previous reviews and stories from others, the process was fairly straightforward and quick in terms of purchasing, I took him to the vet the very next day and he passed his exams and everything perfectly fine and he will be going back in two weeks for his final round of shots! He is a very happy, healthy, and loving boy and I’m very thankful to have him be so healthy, do your research, ask questions and you will be fine. Thank you team!!!

bought a parakeet from these people in Janesville WI on 3/12. Today is now 3/17, and he died this morning. First red flag was that I was told the bird's wings would not be clipped, but they were, and he had diarrhea all over his vent once I got him back home. Clearly had not been hand-raised and was scared of humans, even biting the employees to the point of drawing blood. Called the store to get a refund, they said they do not offer refunds or replacements on any of their animals, which is a glaring sign that the animals they sell to people must drop dead often once they go home with well-meaning owners. I had an appointment to get the bird checked out next week by my avian vet, assuming the bird would at least live seven days?? I'm sure the "breeder" they get their birds from is less breeder and more parakeet mill, I have worked with breeders before and no reputable breeder would send you home with a baby bird that was 50/50 on surviving more than 5 days. unbelievable. Glad I didn't let Cher talk me into buying a second one. Will never spend another dime at this shop.

Don’t support this business. There’s a few reasons why I’d go as far as to say you’re better off going to an ethical breeder.1-They lied about having show bred dogs, specifically a Bernese mountain dog-a breed with multiple existing health issues already. Heart and hip testing is an absolute must, the worker lied about having it when I requested it. Once she came back she said “I couldn’t find it in our computer or her file but just know her parents are show dogs”.2-Their staff isn’t educated on the care of varying animals here. A single ferret was alone on pellets with only a food bowl and a plastic key toy.3-I had previously adopted a bunny from here after feeling bad and falling in love with her. The worker I spoke to for adoption was supposed to put her in the carrier and instead freaked out when picking up the bunny improperly and dropped it on the floor. She never liked people ever again, let alone would run away at any sight of a person.4-The “manager” or whoever she is, will let you sit there for 45-60 minutes when there’s open stalls before actually paying attention to you. Then she’ll proceed to say that the dog can’t be taken out now, and you’ve wasted your time driving there and waiting.5-These aren’t ethically bred dogs, no breeder would willingly sell a puppy/work with petland knowing it would live in a glass box for months never going outside. Would you buy a horse to leave it in a dark stall everyday? Also, doodles aren’t a recognized AKC breed, but they carry them and say “show bred” when such doesn’t exist (as a dog trainer, and my family being part of the show dog community I’d know). Let alone these dogs are more often than not covered in feces and cost more than $3,000.Overall, don’t waste your time. Read the other reviews. Do your research. Go to an ethical breeder and end up with a pup that’ll live twice as long and won’t suffer from health issues.

What an awesome experience from this location! I had drove to this Location from La Crosse WI. We had looked online and saw that they had a frenchie in store. When we got to the store it was very busy, many people were looking at the puppies this day. My friend and I looked at 2 Frenchies, the one picture below and a slightly older Frenchie. Before coming here I understood that these puppies are high priced which also seems like a scam, but honestly it’s definitely worth it! They have all of their up to date shots and are well taken care of! Sophie has been an absolute doll since I brought her home.Pros: The young gal I worked with was so polite and patient, she knew we were leaving with a puppy but did not rush us throughout the process even though she was navigating through MANY customers. I forgot her name but she has long blonde hair. Probably one of the best workers at this location!Cons: Only con I would like to make a comment on is they do have you buy food from their location, I would recommend getting a different food as this is not the food these puppies have been eating, or doesn’t seem to be. My poor little girl has had an upset stomach since I’ve been feeding her the food the store had told me was required to buy on the day of the adoption (Which I’m sure is just a company policy, not due to the employees) Little rice and chicken and switching her food did the trick.Sophie’s total cost is a little over $6,000, again this includes all of her shots YTD, and I'm assuming a partial adoption fee. Normally pure bread frenchies are in a range of $4,000-$4,800. Definitely a fair price especially with the option of financing.

Nice people, but the animal cages were dirty. They were working on cleaning them at the time we were in there, but It seamed as they were just moving the poop to the corners of the cages. Lots of dead fish floating in the tanks. Only a few of the dog viewing windows even had the Brand/Price of the dogs in there. I would think they would have each brand of dog listed in each viewing window. Unfortunately, I'm sure they were short staffed like everyone else.

We bought a puppy last week and got him into the vet. The vet told us that the puppy has already been neutered and the paperwork said he hasn’t. We called the store once we found out because we were very upset and wouldn’t have purchased him if he wasn’t intact. It stopped his growing rate way too early. The store told us there is nothing that they will do that it’s not their fault. The store tried to say they havent dropped yet… hes 6 months old… Stay away from the store as they are untrustworthy and break consumer protection laws. Their customer service for people with concerns and complaints is awful. I’ve noticed and witnessed first hand now how nasty they get with customers via phone and publicly on the reviews. The reply is a lie as well. They say they would be happy to look over the vets exams notes they didn’t say that over the phone. And even if they do they wouldn’t do anything for us. This location sells sick or defective animals which is a breach of contract. Unless you’re going to give us a refund or make things right this rude banter on the public reviews is unacceptable and a terrible business practice.

PEOPLE, PLEASE don't buy puppies from here. They are always sick because they DO NOT have the breeders check for genetic testing on the dame or sir or puppy! NO good breeder would ever sell their pups to a store because they want to make sure they're going to a great home. These people buy every single pup from a puppy mill please rescue a dog or look for good breeders in Wisconsin YOU will regret getting a pup from here! Trust me I know I didn't do my research until it was too late my Frenchie had genetic issues and I had to put him down at 3 what he went through was awful down right cruel !! Let's close these places down.

I got my dog from there back in 2019, although she is amazing... she was sick when I got her. 1st vet visit showed Giardia (intestinal). She also has an inflammatory disease she was born with, that she'll never get over, and has multiple birth defects.I love her soooo much, but her health is bad. I worry about her lifespan on a daily basis. 😰 They don't use the best sources for their animals. Please be careful getting your new best friend here.

Hate this place. Owner get mad I don’t care. I got my puppy and he was so expensive. I fell in love with him and decided to pay the $3,600 for him. I decided to go through financing to help my boyfriend with his credit score. They said that it’ll only drop his credit by a couple points and it dropped it by 50 points!! We then found out that we are getting charged a 35% interest!!! That’s more interest than a car or house loan. When I called to ask to look at the forms where I consented a 35% interest, they said they don’t have my paperwork anymore. When I called the financing place they said Petland is the one that is supposed to inform us the interest. Also when I adopted Balto, they said I get free pet insurance for a month for my primary care visits. When I filed a claim, they said they do not reimburse for that only emergency visits which is the opposite of what we were told. The way the owner responds to the 1 star reviews shows that she is far from professional. Can’t wait to see how she responds because it won’t bug me since I’m not the one receiving horrible reviews. Run a better business. If you somehow now find my paperwork, you can mail everything so my lawyer and I can look through it. Thank you. You’ll be hearing from us soon :)

Great selection of pets. I went to every pet store with small pets in the Madison area the other day and came back to buy my hamster at Petland. They have some pretty neat fish you don’t see at most stores. I loved seeing the polar blue parrot fish.

I had a TERRIBLE experience. I called on Tuesday the 5th asking about an available dachshund , the worker told me the dog was $3000 with the starter pack. When I came in to the store the worker now told me the dog was 1000 more than the original cost I was given , and not including the starter pack. The service was awful. I was made to feel stupid. This was an awful experience and I will never be coming back. I wouldn't even rate this store a one star but it makes you put one down.

So, I had had a great experience at the Janesville Petland. The consideration and purchase of a new family pet can be a stressful experience. The good news is that the wonderul folks at this location made it a very pleasant experience. From being able to spend time with the animals one on one, to the easy credit application process, it made finding a new family member very memorable and positive. Great records and documentation for pets purchased here. Our new puppy loves the family and is a great fit for the kids.

One day seven months ago I woke up one and decided that I wanted to get a Piranha. Happened to walk in and saw that they had the fish I wanted. I got introduced to Megan, and she has helped me with all my fish questions. I go at least once a week to get feeders. Got the tank and stand thats pictured from there too.I Love You Megan!

My 1st time here with my 3yro son who kept trying to touch everything he wasn't supposed to touch, yet the staff was surprisingly patient, and very helpful. A bit expensive in some areas but not overly extreme. The person who stood out the most and answered all my questions was a man named Herman. I couldn't have asked for better service. Herman helped find and locate everything I needed for our new family members (Tweety & Bluey ) to be comfortable in their new environment. I am now a proud new mommy of two Parakeets, one male and one female.

This Petland was clean, organized and well stocked. Cordial employees. Unfortunately, they have little to no retail competition so costs for their pets seem quite high.

If I could give this place zero stars, I would. Understaffed, maybe. Lazy employees who don't care about the animals, absolutely. When confronted about the amount of dead fish, the woman working said "oh, that's a daily occurrence." Not so much when some had mold on them. She had zero interest in actually cleaning the tanks. Hamsters enclosure was horribly dirty with excretions. The puppies all had diarrhea, smeared on the walls and glass. This place is disgusting.

Great experience and friendly workers, just a bit to pricey. The animals looked like they were in jail. A puppy caught my eye because he looked very sad in that small cage something needs to be done about their housing. It's horrible and they only eat twice a day. Who is there when they close on one and its 😢. This little guy touched my heart. Awesome boxer. He looks under fed.

We got a puppy from them who acts like it was beaten. She won't eat or walk around on a leash. She won't explore the house or yard. She acts like she was beaten and neglected. When we called raising the concerns they said she's just nervous. These animals haven't seen grass and should at very least get time outside of their cage. I really hope this dog comes around because right now she won't eat, play, or potty. The employees were nice when we were there which is the only reason it's a 2 star review.

We purchased a dog Jan and came back today to look around. The employees were either absolutely racist or didn’t want to acknowledge us waiting to be serviced! Instead they walked passed us multiple times asking every white person if they needed help looking for something.

Clean areas to meet the dogs, awesome selection, employees are friendly and knowledgeable. Fish area and reptiles are clean and up kept, and where you can pet the bunnies was the cleanest I've seen.

One of the workers was extremely rude. I was looking about getting a kitten and after I asked about pricing she came and asked if I was done with the kitten, and snatched it away.

Bought my dog there about a year and a half ago. The process was pretty easy and they offer quite a few different financing options if you aren't paying full price up front. The dog came with a free vet visit to a local clinic and information on where the dog comes from. Overall a good experience. This is a pic of the dog a year later

My hamster from a few years ago was fine, however, I purchased another hamster less than two weeks ago, and she passed today. I was told she was 4 months old. When I brought her home, I immediately knew something was wrong with her. She was very inactive, slept all the time, barely ate/drank. Never chewed anything, didn't make a proper nest. Such a shame. When I was there to get her, the ferrets and rats were sneezing, a rat was dragging it's back foot, and limping. I probably won't be going back here again.

I was quite disappointed with the level of customer service provided by the store owner. The responses on these reviews are unprofessional, lacking in empathy, and reflect poorly on their business. Housing puppies in cramped conditions with limited resources, such as a single toy and insufficient bedding, and providing hydration through rodent water bottles is unacceptable. Adequate training and outdoor access to bathroom and exercise opportunities are fundamental components of responsible puppy care and should be provided from the outset of a puppy’s life. It is essential for pet stores to raise their standards and exhibit a greater sense of responsibility in their treatment and housing of animals.

Awful place. The "breeder" they work with is a puppy mill. Plain and simple. If they cared about anything besides money, they would promote adoptions. You can find any breed in a rescue all over the country. Do your research. Also, "USDA" approved facilities only have to provide food, water, and shelter. They don't talk about how their kept, how many times their bred, or the brokers many work with. If only people knew the truth.
