I ordered 15 pheasant chicks from MacFarlane pheasants, they were supposed to add 1 free. They got here in a timely manner but I only received 14 chicks. 2 of which were DOA. After a few days I ended up with 7.MacFarlane made it right. I'll order chicks from them again.

I ordered a few pheasants and pheasant pies. The website doesn’t tell you shipping charges before you are billed and they charged $50 = almost double the cost for shipping. I reached out immediately to customer service to no reply. In contrast I ordered 5x the side venison from another outfit and shipping was $10zThey should absolutely exit the direct to consumer market - will never do business here again

Very nice experience, I have tried for three years to buy eggs and this time I started enquiring in January.I only wanted 36 because the "Little Giant 11300 Deluxe Incubator, Digital, only holds 41 eggs.I picked them up this afternoon. I was met at the door with a very well packed box of eggs. I asked about washing, and was told they were washed and sterilized. EXCELLENT!!! Ready for the incubator when I arrive home 3 hours later.I won't come on here and change my review in 25 days complaining that they didn't all hatch. I have been raising birds for over 20 years. I know that if you order birds and have the USPS delivery you need a full carton, not 10 birds. Pick them up yourself at that quantity.The first 72 hours are the most crucial. I once saved a duck with "crook neck" by keeping the bird in my shirt pocket the first day. Not sure why but the bird came out of it and survived.As for USPS delivering in one instance I received my mallards in 24 hours. I was told that when postmasters get live chick they make a game out of it to see how fast they can deliver them. Not sure about this day an age. No one wants to work anymore and all they want to complain.I will get back on in 30 days with an update, some more pictures and total number of birds.THANK YOU MacFarlane Pheasants.05/11/2023 update: well 21 of the 42 eggs hatched all doing well. I had 3 with shackle legs, I confined them in a small area inside my broader and that made them upset so the stood on their legs for hours on end trying to look out over top, that was the best therapy they could have had because 2 days later they were standing and running. Only one still has twisted feet. Doubt that will ever be ok BUT doesn't seem to bother him at all. Attached some more pictures

Great experience!I ordered 25 pheasant chicks. Hatchling chicks shipped via USPS on 6/17. Post office called me 8:00am 6/19 to come and pick up chicks. I unpacked and placed 27 chicks into my 24sqft brood box w/ 150w heat lamp. I lost 1 the next day probably because I didn’t have heat lamp set optimally. 2nd one died a few days later because it was prone to seizures.McFarlane instructions were important to my current success and i followed them closely. The chicks did rapidly outgrow their brood box and I moved them at week 5 outdoors to their new 12’x25’ chicken wire pen. This was not problematic due to 70 degree nights. They did not gather under heat lamp that I placed in their new pen at this point.They are currently 8 weeks old and are showing their gender. There are 6 hens & 19 cocks. I’ve kept plenty debris in pen for forage to keep them busy & has seemed to discourage pecking & cannibalism….so far.Great experience!

Love this place! I wanted to work on the farm when I was 16 but moved away. Now I come back and buy some products from time to time when I visit my mom. They have alligator meat, ostrich, rabbit, bison, quail and other exotic meats and obviously pheasant. The pheasant brats, summer sausage and snack sticks are awesome! Unique little gem.

Havent had great luck with chicks I order usually 20-25 at a time just to introduce new bloodlines in to my group. I am lucky if 50% survive the first 24hrs but its at no fault to MacFarlane! This is due to my location and our wonderfully inept USPS system and handling. The ladies at the office have always been very helpful and make it right for the customer! Those who give bad reviews to MacFarlane because of chick mortality should post those 1 star reviews on the USPS site instead. Once the birds ship the rest is out of their control. Great people and beautiful birds!

not impressed. received the package late thursday evening took the picture of the package saturday- it still looks wet.upon opening it it filled the room with a stench that cannot be deacribed. purchased 16 birds had 4 ice packs and 8 inches of free room. birds had broken legs and were dislocated at the hips. will not buy anthing again and highly tempted to send to usda

My first impressions of this place were very good indeed. I was greeted with a warm smile, as I came through the door, and browsed the store without any interruption. That, in itself, was a winner for me to make a 2nd trip.Haven’t tried the ‘pheasant pot pie’ yet, but being a bachelor, I’m sure it will be a treat. The ‘bacon wrapped quail’ has already made it on my list, as well as the ‘elk jerky sticks’😬.Would highly recommend this place to anyone who loves game birds.

I have ordered 2 sets of 10 pheasant chicks. They were shipped at different weeks. Both shipments arrived with 10 dead chicks in the box. There was no heat pack, or water. I am very disappointed and can't believe the cruelty here. I would not order from this company again. Although I will receive a refund, I am astonished that they do not have better practices for shipping live chicks.
