It was very difficult to review this hotel for the fact that there were ups and downs throughout our experience! We booked a block of rooms for our wedding guests and everyone said the hotel was great with their service and no issues. The communications I had the weekend of our wedding with the onsite staff was amazing! They were willing to hand out welcome bags and walked through booking corrections that were needed. A few negatives I would bring attention to: (1) keep records of what you have booked with them. I called them multiple times prior to our weekend and confirmed the vendor rooms, and somehow there were still errors upon arrival. (2) Two weeks before our wedding they decided to increase the cost of each room. Some guests got notified, some did not - including ME the bride that had several rooms under our name for our vendors. I found out from a family member. Upon calling them and asking they were unwilling to honor the pricing they originally gave me when I booked the block and told me to call the owner. I never did for the pure fact that it was two weeks before the wedding and my priorities were elsewhere as I had final items that needed my time which I found very unfair. The used the argument that there weren't many other options in the area. I looked into the BW Oasis Inn in Mauston and used them as a back up but had I known this prior I would have made that our primary hotel as they were beyond amazing to work with! (3) Upon booking the block they only let me reserve half the rooms despite everyone attending our wedding was coming from out of town. I had to call a month before and claim any remaining rooms to ensure they were available for our guests and I had to coordinate assigning the rooms to guests still waiting for the rooms and they had to call and claim the room. This was a VERY stressful situation to be put into, only to be given the rooms ultimately 30 days before. Anyways, thank you for treating our wedding guests well and providing lodging for our weekend!

We stayed overnight 9/15/2023. Such a nice hotel! The moment you walked in it smelled so good. The rooms were so clean. Big comfy beds, big bathroom, pool, bar and grill in the hotel. Everyone was so pleasant. Service desk to bartender was awesome. Loved the town. I will definitely stay again and tell everyone I know . You will not be disappointed in this hotel

Excellent accommodations. Nicely appointed rooms and facilities. The on-site bar is excellent as well as the food, including breakfast!Short walk from the hotel to Hillsboro brewing. Highly recommended. See separate review.Overall, a nice experience. We’ll be back next time we’re riding through the region.

Our experience was great, this hotel is family friendly, has a hot tub and pool lounge and exercise room, the Staff is friendly and made sure the guest had everything they needed upon arrival and had no problems assisting with the many questions or getting fresh linens, towels, soap etc for more than a nights stay. Beezers is attached to the building and has excellent food choices The staff at Beezers is excellent, friendly and made sure everything was made to order. Subway and a store are just a walk across the parking lot.Would recommend! Excellent stay.Thank you, Hotel Hillsboro.

We had our Christmas family gathering here and had a wonderful time. The use of their meeting room was perfect for our needs as a place to gather. Swimming pool and hot tub were welcomed activities for kids and adults and having Beezer's Bar and Grill attached is a super bonus! Thank you for a great weekend!!!

Do not be fooled by the average rating into thinking that this hotel is in any way dirty or poorly staffed; our room was spotless upon our arrival and the staff was friendly and helpful.However, this hotel is simply showing its age and could use additional maintenance and improvements. The wallpaper in our bathroom was beginning to peel off the walls. The toilet seat was not screwed down, and therefore moved uncomfortably while using it. The fan in the bathroom was not up to the task of dehumidifying the room, even after a short shower. The pillows were old and probably should have been replaced several years ago. The room as a whole, especially the bathroom, was poorly lit and felt somewhat like a cave.But do not be afraid to stay here; your experience will be fine as long as you do not let these minor inconveniences disturb you more than they should. In the end, it is a clean and friendly environment to rest in, however do not expect a glamorous or well-kept hotel to greet you. It serves its purpose, but it is tired. I will likely stay here again and I will not dread it.

We didn't have a long stay, but the staff was kind enough for the brief encounters we had. Provided breakfast was pretty meh. Rooms smelled musky but were neat and clean. Prices were not the best considering, but we opted for it anyway since the hotel was the closest to our morning destination. Pretty average hotel overall.

The place was nice. The beds were soft and not the normal hard that you find at most hotels. Only down side was there breakfast, it was lacking. Choice of cereal, toast, bagles, hard boiled eggs, and yogurt. So great place to stay but the morning breakfast will leave u wanting.

Poor excuse for a hotel stay at your own risk. Musty smelling not very clean and teenagers that work the desk are clueless and have no interest for their customers. They care more about there socializing and phones instead of helping guests!! I will never stay at this hotel again. Poor excuse for a local hotel. Rundown

Stayed here last minute last weekend. This is a really nice hotel. The staff was friendly, the rooms were clean the pool and hot tub were great. The attached sports bar had great prices and really good food. I would for sure recommend this to anyone.

We stayed here for two nights on a motorcycle trip. The facilities are nice, with a good bar/restaurant attached and indoor pool. Rooms were clean and well cared for. A couple suggestions: the free Wifi, while strong at one end of the building, did not reach the other end; also, replacing the hotel-quality comforters with a down comforter would be an instant upgrade guests would appreciate. I have been all over the place and this hotel is among the better values for the services and facilities I got. Thanks!

I should have written this review years ago. My wife Lori and I just can't say thank you enough to the employees, management and owners of Hotel Hillsboro. We have based our annual motorcycle ride out of this awesome place for the last 10 years and every year Hotel Hillsboro has taken such great care of our friends. This year was no exception with the heavy rains washing out the roads and making motorcycle riding not ideal. They helped find us a bus service so we could safely travel to our stops in the area and opened the restaurant early for us. We appreciate everything you have done to make every Chicken Run weekend a memorable one. Thank you again!!!

Second time staying here in the last 2 years as we enjoy eating & drinking craft beers at Hillsboro Brewery. Room rates are reasonable, rooms not fancy but clean & comfortable. Has a nice indoor pool & small workout room. A continental breakfast is also offered. Very nice atmosphere, log cabin type with extremely high ceilings in foyer/entryway. Also has a restaurant attached that has outdoor musical entertainment often. A tiki bar & good outdoor seating is available too. Staff very friendly & helpful. Always have a rack with towels for the motorcycles of which frequently stay because of the awesome rides in this “driftless region.” Will stay here again.

I would not recommend this hotel. I was charged three times on my card when i stayed 2 nights and paid half cash and half card. The staff was completely rude and wouldn't transfer me to anyone that could help fix the issue. The manager to the place never returned calls, and my small children couldn't even swim in the pool because of the over use of chemicals. I wish there was a corporate number to call. I wont ever stay there again and i just want my money back that was taken from my card that didn't need to be because i didn't stay three nights.

Gave this four stars taking the area into consideration. It's the best around as far as cleanliness goes, overall it's comparable to a Comfort hotel. The breakfast leaves a little to be desired unless you're a fan of bread or hardboiled eggs, and coffee was missing on one day of our stay. Nevertheless, if your choice is between this place and Reedsburg, go here, and get your breakfast at Wisconsin's favorite gas station just down the road. Also of note, their restaurants are closed on Mondays.

Nice hotel for one night or week plus stays. No matter the season the staff is helpful and friendly and the rooms are clean and comfortable. They even have pet friendly rooms. A continental breakfast with bagels, English muffins, cereals, yogurt, fruits, and juices is ready for the guests to enjoy until 9:30. Having Beezer's bar and grill attached to the hotel is a plus. Beezer's also serves breakfast on the weekends till 11am.

This is the only hotel within 30 miles worth staying at, and I've stayed at quite a few now for work. The staff is friendly, the rooms are actually clean, and there's a bar and grill connected to it (closed on Mondays though). Breakfast was sub par but many area hotels are offering zilch due to fear of the state restrictions (which seem unclear to most at this point). If you need a hotel in this area, go here. Even if you need to stay in Reedsburg, go here. It's worth the drive. Trust me.
