Wonderful little town and campground. We loved it! It rained the whole time we stayed but it was still a very relaxing vacation. Bathrooms and showers were very clean and nice. Porta potty was right next to our site and clean! It got cleaned out the day after we arrived too. They had a nice set up outside the bathrooms to wash your dishes. The hosts were extremely helpful and friendly. Beautiful view of the lake in our pop up! Walking distance to a nice little playground for my son and we walked over to the bar nearby for some drinks and ice cream! Locals were friendly as well. We will be making it an annual tradition! This campground is next to Lake Superior. Beautiful, lengthy shoreline to enjoy. The RV/trailer sites are across the road and tent sites are along the lake. RV sites are side by side, no trees for shade and have electric and water.There is a mobile shower house with six small shower stalls (3 for women/3 for men). One new private, single washroom/shower bldg. Only one bathroom had hand soap and non had a trash can.If coming in at night without a reservation, be sure to call the host number listed on the website for availability. All the campsites showed reserved on Sunday and most stayed empty with a "Reserved" note taped to the post--not a removable card.It was quiet, but it was also Sept.

This campground is gorgeous! We try to make this our annual trip except for the covid times.So it's been a few years since we've been back and they added a couple very nice bathrooms with showers in them.Breathtaking stuff. The sunsets are beyond things that you see anywhere else around here except for traveling south.This is a great place for all family things. And just to clear your mind.

I love Herbster Campground! Camping next to the beach, sunsets, the hosts, the laid back feel of the campground, all wonderful and well worth the annual camping trip North. As the campground is growing, so are the facilities; new bathrooms are being built in 2023, which is very much needed.As much as I hate to see the campground grow and sites full, Herbster Campground has not lost it's charm; it's a delight to see so many people enjoying camping on the south shore of Lake Superior.

First I want to say I’m giving it 4 stars because of the view & access to the lake, otherwise it would be 3 stars. The sites are w/e. Ours was long & good space between. We had our 44ft 5tb wheel in site 27 & we had major issues leveling because of the slope. Didn’t use bathrooms. Looks like they’re doing a new ones. They need to put in laundry also. Amenities are at least a 45 min drive away. Mosquitoes & flies are horrible. There were never any bags in the dog poop stations. A little more effort & this place would be awesome. Can’t beat the sunset view.

Very nice quiet campground. We had nice view of the Lake. We were in site 37. Would like to get 27 or 28 next time. Not many trees. We had water and electric.

This is a great little campground that we found several years ago. It is only a few minutes drive to either Port Wing or Cornucopia & Meyers Beach, and a grest scenic drive loop to Washburn and Bayfield.The bathrooms are clean and they are getting new facilities at either end. They do have a shower house.The sites are right across the street from the beach with beautiful views, a little general store is just a couple blocks away as well as a few gift shops. Good for a walk or bike ride. Very dog friendly and fyi, the leash rule is strictly enforced, which we were happy about. Most of the people who were there when we were had dogs. Everyone picked up after their pets and the place was clean bc there were plenty of dog bags.Great beach to swim or sunbathe. Sunsets are spectacular!Betsy and Wayne were very accommodating hosts who were always around if you needed anything.

This place was amazing. Tent camping, RV spots, right on the lake!! Well maintained, friendly host, and the view is great!!Bathrooms, port o Johnny, and a trailer showerhouse. Clean lots, marked spots, once again...the View.After we set up (reserved online) host brought over some firewood for sale. Grab ice before you head out here. Spots are semi close, but honestly it was fine. We had decent neighbors, a few mosquitos reside here, and the fellow campers were great haha.Call or reserve your spot online. Dog friendly and you can even bring the kids if they're behaved. Disconnect from the world as there is limited net... but that's why we go.Restrooms: Port of johny on the side spots, restroom available by the main building.Dog-friendliness: It's close quarters so be sure to be considerate.Picnic area: There is a shelter that has a few tables underneath it. Enjoy a picnic there out of the sun.

Awesome location, right along the shore. Some of the campsites could have been better maintained but still not bad. This definitely needs more than one restroom for sure, most of the time you have to wait to get in.

What a fantastic campground. We love Lake Superior and this campground is right there. Great facilities, great staff, great views and excellent access to the lake.

Great place n while we were here there weren't many campers. Right in the lake! There are more electric sites being put in n if you aren't it you are practically on the beach. I love it here n will come back!

I loved this campground and want to keep it all to myself. My friend and I stayed in a lakeside site. Site 2 is pretty sandy but you cannot beat this view. You are right on the lake, with a path to the water from your campsite. The shower trailer is good, too.

Great campground. You have to register and pay via the website and there is very spotty cell service. Lucky the host let me pay with cash. Loved the sunset and went for a swim in the lake.

Awesome campsite on the lake. If you are tenting it you are basically on the beach. Quite in May, no bugs, sunset views, clean bathrooms and showers, definitely recommend!

Very quiet, small campground with tents spots directly on Lake Superior!! We had an Rv and were just a bit further back with beautiful views of the lake. Definitely would stay there again, could use some trees on the sites but well maintained.

What an ‘hidden/undiscovered jem’....oops; now the secret is out. The only “downside”=first come/first served means you may not have an available spot when you arrive. Otherwise, heaven on earth!Addendum: New In 2023, reservations now required. Book online through the Herbster Municipality…but book early.

This is an outstanding place for both RVs along with primitive camping, especially if you want to be on the shoreline of the great Lake Superior to witness the wonderful sunsets along with a beautiful sunrise.

This is one of my favorite campgrounds. Even during mosquito season! So peaceful, beautiful and on many summer days graced with incredible sunsets.Restrooms: Restrooms and shower house available, likely seasonally.Picnic area: Good size covered shelter is available

This is our friend's favorite place to camp. We were able to join them in July...and did a thing...we got them all married up on the beach! Betsy and Wayne-campground hosts #2 - were so kind and helpful. Couldn't have imagined a better beach wedding - thank you Lake Superior

Very nice place. Camp host is awesome! When we were leaving they were putting in two new bathrooms and showers. Dogs on da beach is Kool too! Utving was our goal. Many nice trails. Very nice restaurant up town Cranberry Over Superior. Also nice bar Elise Blue . Which also has awesome ice cream and take out beverages.

I had such a wonderful time. I tented right next to the shore. Everything was clean and neat. I felt safe. Firewood got delivered right away. Portapotties were very clean. Def want to go back.

This place is a small rustic no reservation campground. Beautiful beach for rock finding. Owners are always there and are helpful and friendly. It's a very laid back, relaxing place to stay.

This place is one of the best campgrounds! The lady who runs it is probably the best lady you will ever know and the view of the lake is to die for! I love this place and town so much I will come back every year!!
