The line for ice cream was out the door for this popular place and for good reason. A HUGE selection of flavors to choose from. The portions were enormous - on the insane side for a two scoop cup of ice cream. The ice cream was good, the staff were friendly.

There may be a line but it’s worth the wait. We stopped in after church. Plenty of inside seating and benches outside. Huuuge selection of flavors. Samples free for the asking. “Gramma’s favorite’ maple nut was great. “Two scoops” is actually more like 6-8 scoops. Incredible.

This a great treat for any day in the Northwoods! Due to its popularity, bring some extra patience while you wait to be served. There are also four benches outside to rest on while you enjoy your treat!

West’s Hayward Dairy! Their Cotton Candy Ice Cream was delicious! Building is well kept and clean to sit down if you choose!Lots of foot traffic but it is quick and efficient!I just got the 1 Scoop Cup and they gave me plenty!! So only get 2 scoops if you want a ton or are sharing!!

West ice cream is delicious - that's why we came here again. The servers were friendly. The rest of my family loved their ice cream flavors - lots to choose from and the chocolate is very chocolatey!My main problem today was that I ordered an ice cream sandwich, partially because it sounded good, and mostly because it was cheaper than an ice cream cone ($4 v $5-6). However, when I paid, suddenly I was charged $6. They said it was because they upgraded to using homemade cookies, which were yummy, and they're also a little bigger now, but it doesn't feel that difficult to update the price on their menus to reflect that. Additionally, their counter freezer had gone out, so they had to move their ice cream sandwiches to the back, and I could tell this one had partially melted during the malfunction and was refrozen. So I paid 50% more for a less quality ice cream sandwich which was a bummer to me. The chocolate homemade cookies were good, and with fresh ice cream would be better as well. The biggest pet peeve is updating the menu prices to be accurate.

Amazing!!! We always come here every year during our 4th of July vacation, and we always make it a priority to stop here at LEAST 3 times during the week. There are so many flavors and I really appreciate that they let you do a half and half scoop, so you could try up to 2 flavors while just paying for a single scoop! Some people say it's way too pricey, but honestly, where are you going to find freshly made, housemade, ice cream like this near Hayward? Only at West's I tell you! They also change up some of their flavors sometimes which is kind of nice to see some new flavors amongst our go-to's. The service is also great, even when the line is out the door and around the block, they still try to get to everyone as fast as possible, while still being patient and kind to their current customer. I love it here, and if I'm going to be totally honest, I would skip out on that other ice cream shop down the street for this place any time. Thanks to the West's team for all the wonderful work you do!EDIT: it’s currently 2023, and oh my goodness. West’s I love ya, but you NEED to make your scoops smaller. My single cone looked like a triple.

The best ice cream and malts I've had by a wide margin. Any new flavor I try simply fortifies that assessment. The portion size and flavor variety are bonkers. It's all so good and handmade here. My wife is often caught fantasizing about the Church Basement Lemon Bar flavor.

Been going to Hayward for more than a decade and this has been an awesome treat. Better get there early so you can take in the smell of fresh waffle cones. The CoCaTo (definitely didn't spell that correctly) is my favorite.

Loved it when it was a dairy picking up milk as a kid, love it even more as an adult eating ice cream. Peanut butter milkshake brings all the boys to the yard, so good!!!

Very good ice cream and sorbet. Friendly and helpful staff. I took my 4 young children in and the ice cream server made each of their cones appropriate to the child's size. The 2 year old had the smallest and the 6 year old the largest. Not by a lot, but enough that I knew he was paying attention. It was perfect. Will definitely return.

This was a great stop on our way out of Hayward. Great staff, great ice cream and lots of people. It's awesome seeing a business thrive on a Monday afternoon.This ice creamed little face was adorable. Her brother had the same blue ice cream pattern on his face. The best part of summer.
