I recently bought a paddle board from James. He was very responsive and knowledgeable and I felt like I was in good hands the entire time. I never felt like I was being sold something. I live in kansas and shipping had been the biggest obstacle I have encountered but james had multiple shipping options and even got me the cheapest quote. I highly recommend hayward outfitters.

Worst experience ever. We drove an hour to visit the store. The owner asked what I was looking for, I said an ultralight canoe, and he said “start at the website.” Huh? He had racks and racks of boats in his back area and he just kept repeating “start on the website.” I finally got the message that he wasn’t going to sell anything to me and left. Weird, almost creepy, and definitely disappointing.

This was by far the best experience I've had at a kayak shop! Called about an in stock unit they had and showed up less than two hours later to an attentive and friendy staff. No pressure on sale but very detailed on walking through kayak I wanted. Took the time to let me make sure accessories I was interested in fit the kayak. Would definitely recommend!

Purchased a wonderful Canoe a couple of years back, and their paddles turned out to be a wonderful deal as well. Very polite, even gave us his car strap since they were out of stock.What I don´t like: I cannot access the website anymore from Germany, wondering what the intention is....

I've had multiple 5 star experiences at Hayward outfitters. Their products are all quality and their prices are better than anywhere I've found online. They do not sell junk! Only industry-leading brands. Dagger, NRS, Werner and others all top notch stuff here.Jim and Jane are awesome people. They have always been very prompt to respond to my online inquiries and have been nothing but courteous and respectful when I stop in the store. They are happy to share info on their favorite river runs and Jim donated some tools to help us clean up the river when he heard we were doing it. Whenever I need anything for the river, I go to Hayward outfitters first.

An experience to remember and tell others about! I don't do reviews often, but working with Jim and Jane was a "WOW" experience. I literally drove 10 hours to get fitted for a new canoe. I was able to demo the boat on the river before I purchased it. If you are looking to find the right fit and not play the guessing game, I highly suggest you give Jim a call. Refreshing to meet a small business that truly puts the customer first. Bravo!

Over the past 10 years or so I have bought 7 kayaks, 1 paddle board, and 1 canoe along with a number of accessories from Jim and Jane. In addition to this Jim has taken our family on several guided canoe trips. I have had nothing but fantastic experiences in dealing with hayward outfitters. They are very knowledgeable and always have been extremely helpful in making sure we have gotten the best products that fit our needs at a reasonable price.My family has created many great outdoor memories using their products.I highly recommend stopping by their shop if you are considering a canoe, kayak, or paddleboard.

Extremely friendly owner with very prompt service! Website says must reserve ahead of time but received an email right away stating that we could pick up as soon as we were able rather than waiting a day! We were also able to put it right into the lake right on site rather than having to tie it up on the car. Would highly recommend this small town business and its friendly owner (and his dog!).

Jim was great in helping me purchase New Paddle King Lo Pro Cruiser. Best price around! I live I Nebraska and is quite the drive but the purchase was seamless. His wife was very pleasant and friendly. Was on my way in less than 30 or 40 min. Also made an order change on my boat after I put in a week prior Jim says no problem will get it done. So I do find hard to believe any negative reviews about these people or this business. Thanks so much again for such a awesome boat!

We had a great experience yesterday and today when looking for kayaks. I had done some research and found the same brand we were looking for at Hayward Outfitters. We were shown all the features of the Perception Prodigy 10.0 and decided our own colors. There were also several options with the kayak paddles, we chose the carbon fiber handles. Every accessory we needed was there at the store. We felt like friends with the Store owners and the store had a warm atmosphere. Overall it was a real positive experience and we even had help loading and securing our kayaks to our trailer. The owners know kayaks and are more then helpful.We went for a tour around the lake when we returned home and are sure glad we bought the models we did. I would recommend them to anyone looking for a kayak or gear.

Jim did a great job communicating with me. I knew what I wanted and he had the boat in stock. He arranged it so I could pick up from his daughter south of Minneapolis. The service was great, I love my new boat, and it was well worth the 2300 mile drive, round trip, from Helena MT to get a great boat at a good price and not have to deal with shipping problems. Thanks, Jim!!!A highly recommended vendor of good boats.

Jim and Jane were great. Very informative, knowledgeable, courteous and helpful. Showed us comparisons for what we were looking at. No high pressure, just very straightforward in buying our two kayaks. Jim spent quite a while helping me get the two kayaks on top of the car. Highly recommended!

I will never shop here again. The first time we came in, we explained that we had never had kayaks and we were going to be buying a couple of cheap Walmart kayaks. They suggested the racks we should buy. While they were $35.00 more per set than we saw them in the cities, we needed them that day, and justified the extra 70$ for small town community purchasing. While we were there, we asked to look at a couple kayaks to make sure we were doing the right thing, and also we are in the market for a small pontoon. It really seemed as though we were troubling them. We left with our racks and decided due to their lack of salesmanship we decided we wouldn't buy from them. Well, we put the racks on and went to pick up the kayaks, and the straps were not long enough to strap around the kayaks and no matter how they were adjusted the kayaks didn't fit into the rack. We packaged them back up in all of the bags, exactly how they were when we bought them and drove the hour and a half back to return them. We walked in and he immediately said "did you take them out of the box?" We said yes (how else would we know they didn't work). He said they don't accept returns on them. 200$ racks and they are not refundable? The receipt says returns must have a receipt and there may be a restocking fee which we would have been happy to pay, just like it says on the receipt. It doesn't say nonrefundable. They should tell you, just so you know these are not refundable. Won't be back! Not that they would care.See what I mean below. They are rude. I live over 3 hours away, I had to drive all the way back to Hayward to return them. Their policy says 30 days and we were within that.

Hayward Water Sports is an extremely accommodating, knowledgeable and well outfitted business. Jim and Jane helped make our first kayak experience safe, extremely fun and wanting to return for more. Great location, rental equipment and staff - very nice people. We would strongly recommend Hayward Water Sports to our family, friends and anyone interested in the variety of water sports that they offer. Thank you guys very much. We plan to return real soon.

The poor service and unpleasant experience continued today. After having the worst mini golf outing of my life, I was not surprised to read the negative reviews below. They are spot on. This place is not worth the time or $. Find alternative fun for the family . . . Hayward Outfitters has rude owners, they're more like the "mini golf police". Bottom line, they are in the wrong business. Not at all kid friendly. I'm only checking 1X star because I have to . . .

Purchased Cyprus paddle on line 524.00 dollars.Received broken two cracks.Warner will not warenty.Jim at Hayward has run me around even though I sent pictures and called same day I received 10/2/2021.stuck with damaged,store offers nothing,just stone wall.These people are beyond cold.

Called with a simple question only to be treated rudely and told to check online. A simple yes or no would have been great to hear. I looked at some of the other reviews and was appalled to see the poor customer service others have received and even more upsetting is the owners responses to reviews...wow, how unprofessional. Was about to drop over $300 here but will now take my business elsewhere.
