Very helpful owner, informative, took the time to explain personalities of all the cats to us. We wanted a pair or siblings. We narrowed it down to 3 sets, she went into more detail about those 3 sets and we decided on Timon and Pumba(brothers) Now Charlie and Noodles.Clean. Helpful and knew what they were doing. I would recommend this place! Just off the beaten path a bit.

Janine was so very helpful with my adoption of Beatrice. She is a lovely little pooch and I am so very happy to have her. She has some issues that I am very willing to work with. She is progressing nicely here in my home. She is so friendly and gets along great with my male Shih Tzu.

They weren’t open at 4pm on a monday… Went to drop off a kitten or at least see what I could do to help it have a fighting chance at surviving but there wasn’t a soul in that building and no one to pick up the phone :/ Got lucky and some kind lady was able to take the kitten in hopes of helping. telling people you need an appointment and come back in 24 hours is a death sentence in many situations. Disappointed I couldn’t do anything to help this kitten, please post your hours and maybe get someone to have a work phone that they can answer from home to be able to inform people and stuff. I get it, you’re a shelter not a vet clinic but it’s not my cat and I found it and wanted to help but couldn’t do that…. couldn’t take him home as i have 3 other cats but it breaks my heart knowing that the kitten might be dead by now because none of the people trying to help it could get any actual help :(

Lovely receptionist just told me to euthanize a cat I was trying to surrender because “nobody will adopt him anyway if he’s really that bad” without even letting me finish why I need to relinquish him, he needs an outdoor space. He’s destroying everything because I have a 300 sq ft apartment and he’s bored. If you love your pet but can’t take care of them, drive to Green Bay for WI humane society.Edit: The receptionist, Jeanine, called me back to scream at me so I screamed back. And yes I did call her a cow and told her to die after she called me about my google review, to scream at me, then left so many calls and voice messages I needed to block the shelter number.

The owner, Jeanine, is incredibly kind and helpful. She has so much knowledge about each of their animals and wants to pair the animals with the perfect new home and adopter - she is a true matchmaker! It is a clean, welcoming environment. I had a wonderful experience working with this humane society!

I called trying to find a vet that I could work with to get medical care for the cat colony I inherited. The person I spoke to was neither helpful nor understanding. She proceeded to tell me that I would have to take them to the vet and that it was illegal to get medication outside of from a vet. All this information I already knew and had passed on to her but she was more interested in arguing then trying to work with me. I I'm a big donor to people that work with me. People that argue with me get no money and receive negative reviews.

I do not recommend this place at all. We thought we found a wonderful place and a wonderful dog that had health certificates, but we were wrong. We took him to the vet one day after adopting him and he was diagnosed with kennel cough and shortly after, once his fecal work was back, giardia. He had managed to lose 10 pounds while at the shelter, but I guess the staff didn't notice the severe weight loss. I made the shelter aware of what was going on and they offered to help pay for cheap medications. You treat giardia by also cleaning your whole environment thoroughly, not just through meds, so this wasn't even going to help cover 10% of the costs. We also have 3 other dogs at home that the shelter is aware of that we now have to treat for kennel cough and giardia thanks to this shelters lack of care and attention. We returned the dog because we felt the shelter should be liable for his care and we had already spent $300 on care in the little time we had him, not including the cost of our other dogs vet bills. The shelter also in their contract states it's up to the shelter manager to refund and they were not even willing to work with us on a partial refund to help cover the costs of our other dogs vet bills that we incurred from adopting a sick dog from them that they backed with a "health certificate".*update to responseWow just wowWe took him to the vet literally the day after getting him and he was coughing the entire time we had him. I trust that my vet performed the fecal test correctly, and since they manually collected we know he was sick. As stated above he was returned because you should be liable for his care if he came to us that sick. I frankly don't care about you offering to pay for their meds. Risking my dogs health, especially with a senior dog in the home, is not something I'm going to do because a shelter didn't properly take care of their dog. He was also on 1.5 cups of food twice a day per our vets recommendation and based on what our largest dog (77 pounds) weighed. If he continued to lose weight as you say I hope you actually took him in to do blood work and see what's going on. It's very sad that you feel the need to respond to all the bad reviews on Google instead of care for your animals properly. I would also be more than happy to post the vet records so everyone can see. Would you? Are the tests that you're doing done by a vet, vet tech or, trained assistant, or are you guys just doing them yourselves to save money and we should trust you that it's being done correctly.

I don't like games. It took almost 2 minutes of listening to information that had absolutely zero relevance to what I was calling about in order for me to leave a message so that somebody could call me back sometime in the next 2 days. If they were really looking to find homes for dogs, they would not make it so difficult and have so many unnecessary obstacles to do so. There comes a point where you're not being cautious so much as part of the problem. I do not see any reason why I need to fill out an application and give them all of my personal information just so I can see if they have an animal I would like. I should have the available and easy option of meeting the dog I'm interested in. At the end of the day if they don't have an animal I want then they don't need any of my information. The last thing I need is to get put on another list from a place that could not provide me the services I needed.

This is the most clean, well run shelter I ever have encountered,I have adopted/rescued 16 kitties, three horses, three goats, two pigs and and one mini mule over the years from variousshelters, and this shelter is the most impressive, though noneothers were bad. The director is helpful when any problemsoccur, and the shelter cats and dogs aren't crowded but aseffective are placed with shelter mates. It is a pleasure tojust see this shelter, and better yet to adopt from them.

A top notch shelter w excellent management. Clear & concise communication style is a reflection of their no nonsense dedication to animal welfare.Staff works tirelessly to run a respectable clean shelter that provides the best care for incoming and outgoing animals. They go over every animal with a fine tooth comb and provide educational & training services.I have even seen them automatically checking how tight a collar is or how long nails are and they stop to take care of it on the spot. A shelter that is very well managed w excellent care & compassion for animals. And just a note here-Please folks, NEVER declaw your cat!! Buy a scratch post or ask for expert advice from the shelter because they are also animal behaviorists and can help you with your pets!! And Please love & spoil your animals every day of their short lives! Peace! :-)

The lady who works here Janine, stole my dog. I am 17 years old an got this dog when I was 11. From the day we got Blaze he has been my best friend. He ran away about a month ago an we searched for him an finally found him at this shelter. Janine claimed that he was there dog now an held him against our will an did multiple unnecessary surgeries on him. We were willing to pay for the original agreement which was changed multiple times an we even got an attorney. She finally won and won’t speak to us at all. We fought for our dog for a month an this lady refused to give him he back an continued to financially drain my family. I have suffered from anxiety an depression because I lost something that has been with me for the past 6 years of my life. The past month has been completely absurd because this lady refused to give us our dog back that we have continuously fought for. Janine has no soul for she does not care about how others feel about the situation. My entire family has been sick over this an Janine has continued to bully us. I am a child an this women has no care in the world of how she makes a child feel. I want Janine to know that she has caused me an my family an abundance of pain over a dog that was much loved. This lady needs to find a little love in her heart for how others feel. She ripped this dog from its family an refused to give him back I believe not only is my family suffering but this dog who is locked in a kennel everyday because this shelter is not allowed to be open. Instead of being here with multiple people and another dog he only gets to see one person one time a day. This breaks my heart to know that he is lonely in a kennel an doesn’t have a clue what is happening. I believe that is neglect that Janine is enforcing on my dog. Losing a dog is losing a part of your family, Janine is forcing us to lose apart of our family. I hope that she will feels remorse but this is very doubtful considering this women does not have an ounce of care in her life.

Very nice building and accessories for the cats. They wont actually let you in the back to see the dogs. I had one great interaction with a staff member. We talked and played with the cats. I brought my young daughter, as she is gentle with pets. The first staff member was amazing. Kind, knowledgeable. The second, not so much. She told me not to pet a cat, that was purring while I was petting it. Told my kid to settle down when she wasnt doing anything other than giggling at the kitten playing, not physically touching an animal at that time. Was very rude in general. Once I made a comment about going to Fond du Lac to adopt instead, she got nice and her demeanor changed.

Recently went to inquire on possible adoption of a dog from a hoarding home. Shelter is very clean & employees friendly. Mgr Janine spent a lot of time with us on all 3 visits ....answering questions & sharing her knowledge & insight of possible issues with these dogs. We have adopted successfully from rescues & shelters before but this place has the best communication with the best interest of both the pets & adopters in mind! Highly recommend!!

Love everyone there! I have been donating $$$ couple times a year since about 2005 in honor of my fur kids so have gotten to know everyone well and how much they care about the animals in their care. When I lost my last husky I knew right where to go to fill that empty spot- Thanks Janine for trusting me with Missy Mae ❤️ 😊

Had to give up my animal of 4 years, and me and my boyfriend were already really upset when we brought her in they did nothing but be condescending and mock me and try to make me feel bad for trying to give my baby a better home then I can provide for her. She was always scared because we got a big dog and she was fine with them before but mine plays to rough, all she did was attack me and make me feel bad. I took very good care of her, all her shots up to date. I know alot of people in the surrounding area and will definitely tell them not to donate. Already know a few that you were rude to that refuse to donate. You really need people skills, I'd understand if it was someone just saying they don't want their animal, but I did and you refused to give her back after I said I tried everything. You just assumed im a horrible person. And who ever your other co-worker is is always very rude as well, this isn't the only time this company has been rude to my family, my mother's cat ran away late last year in the winter and she had him chipped, they called her and rudely was "we have your cat come get it" I don't what happened to you in your life so bad that you have utterly just hate for everyone but you should seek help. To say such mean things to someone that's already hurting , you must feel great about yourself. This company is very horrible and I worry for the animals. Pleeeeeasse do not donate if they have the heart to be this mean to someone whos just trying their best to give a better life for their babies, with situations out of their control, imagine what how they treat the animals, as if they're just a nuisance...Edit: to response, I never said my I liked my dog better, the fact you have to change my words to make your company better shows how horrible you are. I had my dog for 4 months, and we have both continuous love, but my cat continued to hide in cabinets and even peed on things. She was clearly unhappy and I surrendered her to give her a better life where she could be the only animal and live a happy life cause that's what she deserves and I was made felt nothing but bad about it. Everything I did was wrong, the food they ate ( I changed now) the shots which were only a few weeks expired she insisted it was over a year. Had to argue with me about my cats age. Which she was 4. I got her when she was 4 months old in 2016. All in all even though you twisted what I said. I really do hope my baby finds a good home, but you need to stop twisting what people say to make you look better and treat people that care about their animals or want to adopt, with more kindness and respect and not like they're a nuisance cause these people are ones that donate to you, I've ran fund raisers for your company and now realize you don't deserve any of it. Work on your people skills.Yes a google review is the place that's what it is here for, to tell people to stay away. Thank you tho for showing still how you can't apologize and have to dictate how we express our concerns.

very bad communication skills. we went through a 9 day process to get a kitten because they could not properly communicate between us or their staff. we never got our kitten, who we had been assured we would be able to take home the day we picked him out. every staff member seems to have a different idea on what protocol is. some workers were very rude to us and picked an argument with our vet! very heart breaking for our family. the volunteers were very sweet and helpful when we visited thoughedit since there’s no response button: there were multiple volunteers working. they told us personally they were volunteers and not workers... secondly, we released our information as requested on the application. you called before we called our vet first (which we were required to do. the receptionist told you that and you argued with her. she told us everything and mentioned that you were very unpleasant with her. there was a week following when our information was available which you continued to claim was not and never cared to explain the initial situation which left us in confusion). We understand that there is an application process, but whoever we spoke with basically said we were good to go when we previously explained our health records. it was very irritating to learn that none of this was true. we asked many questions about these things previously and were assured it was ok with your protocol, but then things would change a few days later. it would have been okay if you had just been upfront in the first place instead of having to deal with this long anxious process! i just wish you would communicate better and have a better attitude! we are no longer pursuing this adoption because we are tired and were told the kittens are probably being kept together anyway. we already found a great shelter and have a kitten now. and yes i will be resigning my application. the job description seemed very unprofessional and abrasive, as does this response. thank you for having to make an embarrassing scene on a public forum instead of contacting me personally if this was so hurtful for you. as someone else involved in services, just remember that not all your reviews will be good and you dont have to be so personal and defensive about a bad review. i review based on what i experienced. i would never post a bad review unless something genuinely upsetting happened to me. you should find security in your good reviews if you believe your business is stable

I just had the worse experience here. I came in with the hopes of adopting a cat. The woman who tried to "help" me was so rude and seemed determined right off the bat to not allow me to adopt. She asked what other animals we have in the home. I told her a cat, dog, 2 guinea pigs, and a hamster. She asked if the cat and dog were fixed I said my cat is but not the dog. She immediately began to rant that they are in business only because of over population and that ALL animals in the house need to be fixed. I was pretty confused when I was looking for another cat but her concern was my dog not being fixed. I told her that really shouldn't matter since my cat is fixed and dogs and cats obviously cannot repopulate. She disagreed and said yes they will... She then kept repeating what she said and basically pushed me out the door. I did make a point to ask if I would also need my guinea pigs and hamster fixed as well and she said yes... I didn't even know it was possible to get a hamster fixed. I have never been more disgusted in the way she treated me and argued with me. I will NEVER be back nor donate to the facility ever again. And if you're curious as to who I dealt with she said her name was Lacey.

We adopted our little puppy (dachsund-beagle-chihuahua) from Green Lake. We had recently had to euthanize our senior dog, Bailey, and all of us in the family including the other dog we're just depressed. This puppy was just the little bundle of hyper Joy that completely took over our lives right when we needed it.The staff definitely cared about the animals, which is the top priority for an animal rescue, in my opinion. The adoption was reasonably quick, including an interview with another staff member, and we were provided the medication the puppy needed for his puppy strangles. We renamed him Dobby, and he is the cutest little thing. Very sassy and opinionated for someone who weighs less than 15 pounds! We are so grateful to this animal shelter for hosting him until we could bring him into our family. They had brought an incredible amount of dogs in from not just one but TWO hoarding situations (total about 100? Dozens fearful and not ready for a real home anytime soon - how do they even have the resources to do this?!?). I can't imagine having to deal with this, as the manager... having to be nice to someone who keeps their animals in these conditions and coordinate with law enforcement - in order to get them to surrender the animals voluntarily. Anywho.Fortunately there were many lovely families playing with the adoptable animals at the time we were visiting (last fall). We didn't waste any time getting on "the list" to adopt. Despite the hoarding situation, we were treated respectfully and professionally, and they were definitely quite busy. Hope you find someone to adopt can add to your family like we did!

BEWARE OF JANINEI adopted 2 cats from petsmart on Monday February 10th. Janine had expressed to us several times that if we had any issues that we could return them and that we had 2 weeks to do so. When i got the cats home one of them did amazingly well, was a little shy but was adjusting well. The second was not and into the early morning hours it had gotten up into my couch liner and was pooping diarrhea and had peed in the couch and the carpet. I emailed her in the early am hours explaining this and in the morning she emailed me saying it was a blip and kept dismissing my concerns, and said if I wanted to return the kitten it would have to be returned to green lake shelter. She called me to say if i returned them to petsmart she'd never be able to adopt another animal out at PetSmart, yet minutes later called to confirm another employee would be at PetSmart to take BOTH CATS. I told her I wanted to keep the other one and she said NO! absolutely not, yet in emails prior said I could return the 1 KITTEN. She called me and left me a horrible nasty voicemail, the cruelty of things she said was astounding coming from a pet shelter employee, she said if i was bringing the kitten back I couldn't keep the one that was doing wonderfully in my place that I wanted so badly to keep. She told me that she called the Sheriff's department and that they were on alert and ready if I didnt return them. I adopted these cats with email confirmation, paperwork and tags, and she also said since she didnt register the adoptions so they were legal property of Green Lake Shelter, even though i adopted them. We had tried to adopt 2 cats in Oshkosh prior and hadn't heard anything so I called them today to see if they had those cats still or not and they said Janine called them and told them I had adopted 2 cats, I'm still curious why she would do that and I am awaiting a call to find what she said to them. have the emails proving all of this and the voicemails and I will be contacting the BBB, the owners of green lake shelter, green lake county and I will be spreading the word about what happened to me showing them all of these emails and let them listen to the incredibly cruel and passive aggressive voicemail. Her true colors show through her bullying and condescending attitude. Truly sad how many other reviews here say the same things about her. I hate that I was bullied to the point I gave my cat back to her because she is a bully. I went in today and the cat I returned that I loved is gone but the other one is still there... Very odd indeed. If you do anything to inconvenience this lady she turns vicious fast. Stay away from Green Lake Shelter as long as she's there. Green Lake shelter wake up and look at these other AWFUL reviews! She does not have these animals best interest at heart. Her replies to reviews about her treating people poorly are smiley faces, how juvenille can you be.**** Response to owners reply ****Your reponse has been screen shot, so lying is only going to get you in further trouble. Everything is documented.Your voicemails are on my phone, your emails are in my inbox. You are now lying on public google reviews. You don't get your way and you bully and intimidate. All i wanted was to keep my cat. If you would like to do the RIGHT THING then give me my cat back.

When I was looking for a puppy they were great at letting me take the time to make a decision. Then when I needed some help with the puppies behavioral issues someone came to my home to help us with ideas to fix the issues. Now 4+ years later still have this mature dog that is an awesome dog.

First off, I love animals and people who provide shelter for them. So, I went in to see the cats because I was planning on adopting one soon. As soon as I walked in the woman was incredibly rude. I asked her a few questions regarding an ESA and living situation and she did not hide her bias opinion at all. I cannot believe the nerve of this woman. I thought the people who work there are supposed to be kind, not condescending. Maybe find a job where you don't need to talk to people.

I tried to get a cat twice. First time they told my landlady I lied on my application (have proof in my emails). Second time accused me of declawing my cat (got in touch with my vet and they even told them they dont have a declawing on record) , said I shouldn't have my current cat because I didnt technically adopt her (My father did when I was underage), and that I never sent in an application the first time! Were rude during the whole process. I made a visit to my veterinarian to get shots and a checkup for my current cat in hopes to bring a new one home then they told me to go somewhere else. You would think that you would want the pets to go to a good home but I guess not. So very frustrating and rude place. I'm going to oshkosh tomorrow to bring home another fur baby! ❤

It's been quite a while since I was last at the GLAAS, only because I have been very busy with other things going on in my life, but when the opportunity presents its self for me to revisit the GLAAS I fully intend to! They have a wide variety of pets that are in deep need of love, affection and attention! There is something about visiting an animal shelter that makes it worth the trip! Plus, there is no cost to it! You can handle as many of the animals as you want (just not all at once) and the staff are usually more than just a little helpful if you need them to be.

On every single occasion I have visited the shelter, whether it was for my own dog or cat, the staff, particularly Jeanine and Lacey are A++ 5-Star caring & knowledgeable people!! They run a CLEAN & RESPECTABLE animal shelter and every single animal is seen by a vet on a routine basis. They care a immensely about animals and take great pride in running a respectable shelter where you will receive an animal that has been thoroughly evaluated medically and behaviorally. Any negative review here, (like the woman who declawed her cats and then could not figure out why they would not use the litter box -- duh - because they are in PAIN(!)), is unwarranted. Jeanine should be commended for rescuing the cats from that woman because she obviously knew nothing about how to properly care for a cat and she stated she preferred dogs anyway. We all owe a big THANK YOU to Jeanine and her crew for protecting and caring for animals and for running such a wonderful shelter! Your tireless efforts are deeply appreciated!
