I met Sonny in May of 2011. At that time I owned a 1 year old Drahthaar that was particularly challenging to handle. After that pup spent a month with Sonny, I was so impressed with the results and the HuntSmith approach, I mentored with Sonny for a week that fall. I lived at his home, with his wonderful family and worked with my dog, the other dogs at the kennel under the guidance, instruction and mentoring of Sonny. It was a wonderful experience that I highly recommend. Since that time, I’ve attended a number of his seminars. In addition, he has worked with 3 addition huntings dogs of mine. Each of those dogs went through his puppy develop training, laying the foundation for my continued work. I’m a member of NAVHDA and Verein Deutsch Drahthaar organizations and see many training techniques and methods. In my opinion, Sonny’s approach and ability to work with dogs and people is the best!!

Sonny and Shannon have the cleanest, most professionally run kennel I’ve ever seen.When it comes to training Sonny has taught me how to help my dogs open their minds to training. Sonny has a unique understanding of how dogs learn and I have grown tremendously as a handler and hunting dog owner through his classes and mentoring sessions. Hay Creek Kennel is an extremely clean and well run facility. Sonny knows dogs inside and out and has been very helpful for me in the training process. I drove from KY to attend a field dog training seminar and it was well worth the time and money. The grounds and kennels are impeccable. This facility is set up for success. Sonny knows what he is doing and does his best to impart his knowledge onto you. Training begins the second your feet hit the ground and it doesn't stop until you are back in your vehicle. Sonny takes you and your dog where you are at and tries to mentor you where you want to go. Thanks Sonny & family for a fantastic event.

I highly recommend consulting with Sonny when you have questions about dog training. He is an extremely knowledgeable person when it comes to training dogs - you can tell this guy knows his stuff. I've attended many seminars that Sonny has led to learn better techniques to training my own dogs. He's completely open for discussion, and is willing to answer any of your questions. If you don't go to Sonny, you're missing out.

I attended my first Boot Camp with my 8 year old Pointer and was thrilled to see that "old dogs CAN learn new tricks". Sonny worked with our group and used each of us and our dogs to demonstrate techniques that really work and we then had an opportunity to practice and receive coaching. I have been able to adapt his training techniques to my suburban life and I now feel like I can strive for excellence in myself and my dog using this program.

My family has owned hunting dogs for 13 years. For the past year, we’ve worked with Sonny and his training system and have seen a drastic improvement in the obedience (both in the house and field) of our dogs. I can’t speak highly enough of the training and people at Hay Creek Kennel, I brought my year old husky there as a last hope effort and they worked wonders with him. He went from a dog who tore up carpets, kennels, and couldn’t walk him on a leash to a dog who is obedient and who I can enjoy walking on leash and can even let him off leash! Not only did they work wonders with my dog, but also to me. They taught me how to keep up on the training and how to read/communicate with my dog in a way that has brought us much success. Once again I can’t speak high enough of Hay Creek Kennel and would highly recommend it to anyone!

We brought our 7 mo old lab to them for upland bird/gun introduction and were thrilled with the results, and we learned a lot from Sonny when picking her up. I have been looking for a good groomer for my Miniature Schnauzers for close to 2 yrs., I have tried a few and was never truly happy. I am so happy to say my search is over. Shannon at Hay Creek Kennels is a great fit for us. I was very happy with the great cuts my dogs received. I had an appt. and HCK was able to keep my dogs until I was able to pick them up. Their facility is amazing and so clean not to mention the scenic drive to HCK. I will be returning for grooming services as well as recommend them to whomever I know that needs grooming services.

I can't say enough great things about this kennel! They are the best around from their care and compassion for the dogs, to the hard work they put in training not only your dog, but you as well to make sure you succeed as a "fur family".I love the fact that they are a one stop shop where they offer boarding, grooming, and training all in the same location. They also will pick up your dog for you and drop off if you're unable to get there which is very helpful! We have gone to other places prior and we now have utilized nearly all of their services and won't go anywhere else!!

I really wanted to use Hay Creek but getting them to lock down a schedule is very difficult. Being off by 2 months is just not acceptable. I am not sure if they are good trainers, but I do know they are very unskilled at customer service.

I highly recommend going here, I tried to shave my dog my self and it turned into quite the mess. Then I went here and there groomer did an amazing job making him look great again. I can't thank them enough!! Very nice people as well!!!!😊
