Amazing experience at Settlement Inn. Staff was wonderful and very helpful. Great rooms with fireplace and small kitchenette. Superb location nestled right in the middle of DC. Don’t forget to utilize the amazing stone fireplace that is equipped with firewood, kindling, and prepped to make a magical fire. Great spa services too!Noteworthy details: Amazing fireplace in common area!

Pros: quiet, nice service, wood-burning fireplace in the lobby, fireplace in the room, bench in the room, pleasant atmosphere.Cons: The TV was lagging and very hard to enjoy, no plant-based “milk” options at breakfast. The spa is constantly advertised but is overbooked and not available.Nearby activities: Great location!

We had a nice stay but this is definitely a 3 star place. The website makes the inn look and sound luxurious. It's just average. Pros - quiet, continental breakfast was well stocked, staff was friendly. Cons- needed decor updates, TV was too small and the cable was much too slow to respond, pub is just a small bar - similar to a kitchen counter - with no bartender.

The whole inn has a decor from the 1980's, but everything was clean and kept in working order. The room was spacious with a dining area with a table and seating for 4, large refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, plate setting for 4, cutlery, and glassware. The dinette was also stocked with kitchen towels, dish soap, and small sink. There was a sofa and living room chair. The bathroom has a nice countertop and drawers for toiletries. The location was nice for visiting most places in Door County. The inn sat on beautiful spacious grounds. It is not walking distance from the town unless you want to hike the approximately 2 miles path.We didn't have any complaints about noises within the inn. It was a perfect place to rest at night without street or other noise if staying in town. FYI, is next to the stairwell so you will hear more people than in other rooms. There is no elevator so request the appropriate location for you room base upon your physical needsRooms: Clean and spaciousSafety: Outside doors remain unlockedWalkability: One path that leads to town of Fish Creek which is about 2 miles awayFood & drinks: Has complimentary continental breakfast. Did not see choices or sign offering lactose free milk or coffee creamer.Noteworthy details: Has 1 lamp on one night stand with electrical socket and 1 USB socket. The other night stand has no electrical outlet near it.

If you're looking for a quiet place without crowds the Settlement Inn is just the spot! It's an older inn, but the atmosphere is great! The staff was wonderful and very pleasant!!Loved the spa treatment I had there and there's a outdoor pool with plenty of seating. The property has a large grassy area by the pool with bistro tables and chairs. The rooms are definitely clean but could use a little updating. Our room had a fireplace, frige, microwave and a dining table with seating for 4. There was a laundry area on the 1st floor. They offer a continental breakfast which was fine and there was a basket of snacks you could take whenever you wanted. Great place for a family or just a getaway.

Really dated, built in 1984 and not sure if anything has changed since then. You actually get a key to open your door, air conditioner is in living room. We had a suite, 2 bedroom the master had a king size bed, but the other bedroom had a queen size bed and barely any room to get to the bed and no closet, one bathroom. Reasonable prices but I would spend a bit more for something a bit nicer, and it’s not right in Fish Creek, it’s about 3 miles from town.

Beautiful decor, extremely clean, owners are very personable and friendly. They even called us the night before to inform us we could check in early if we wanted as no one had been in our room the day before. Very thoughtful! We stayed in room #30. Very spacious and comfortable with a pleasant view from the window. I’ve stayed at at least a dozen other places in Door County previously and this has become a new favorite. We loved the gas fireplace in our room and the log burning fireplace in the lobby is wonderfully cozy. We will definitely return here again another time.

We enjoyed our stay at Settlement Courtyard. My husband and I were there mid Sept. It was definitely quieter than staying in town, which was still very busy at 8:30 on a Tuesday night. It’s in a good location, south of Fish Creek but a very short drive. You could actually walk or bike to Fish Creek. We will stay here again. Worth the money. They open in mid April and close for the season after the first weekend of Nov. All of the staff are friendly. The room was clean, temperature was comfortable. Drapes allowed the room to be dark in the morning. It’s an older building, so there isn’t an elevator to the second floor. You still use a key to unlock the door. We did not mind that. They have only an outdoor pool, water temp was about 85, like bath water. Staff said they keep it heated from June until they close for the season. Unknown if the pool is filled until warm weather in June. There is also horse shoes, and other lawn games available.Specialty shops are located right next door, in walking distance. Also some days there is a farmers market in the morning.Breakfast was provided, cold foods, cereal, bagel, Danish, yogurt, fruit. There’s a microwave, so you can also make instant oatmeal, or heat a breakfast sandwich. Beverages are coffee, tea, juices, milk. Eat in their cafe setting, or take it back to your room. There’s also a nice sitting room with a fireplace to sit and read or just enjoy the fire and the room. A spa service is available, but we did not use it. A small bar room was available for alcoholic beverages in the evening.

UPDATE:It is our last day today and we actually have been having a very nice trip. Door County is always great-beautiful, tons of things to do and wonderful people. Our stay at the hotel has been very nice, the pool has been great as always, they have added some yard games, we took advantage of that, the grill has been working fine. We are not breakfast people, but our daughter enjoys going over there and grabbing a cereal box or some of the delicious breads they offer, so that has been a bonus too.The reason I can not give five stars is the room, we haven’t had one good night of sleep. No matter what people upstairs do, we can hear everything. When they walk around, the whole ceiling/floor shakes and squeaks. Several sets of people have used the room above us since our first night ( yes, we can tell) and some of them enjoyed walking around well well past midnight and some liked waking up well before sunrise, some had children running around and all of them have the right to do that, of course. The rooms do need updates-lighting is very poor, the shower could use a face lift and a full size mirror would be nice.As to the response from the hotel under the original review, thank you for taking the time to write. We actually did not request any type of room, we simply booked the room that was offered to us and wrote in the special requirements section that we would like to be on the top level. At check in, after we found out our room would be on the first level we asked the gentleman at reception if we could have a room upstairs and he said no. (Actually his exact words were “next time”).But it is what it is, we didn’t let it ruin our vacation and still had a wonderful trip.ORIGINAL REVIEW BELOW:We stayed here last summer and enjoyed it, so decided to return, but it’s our first day back and we are already pretty disappointed. For one, we booked this stay many months ago and requested a top level room, our request was completely ignored, we are on the first level, facing the parking lot. It is quarter past midnight as I am typing this and the noise coming from the people above us, combined with the squeaky floor they are stomping on is unbearable. The room we got is musty, smells like a basement, everything is very worn down- towels, linens, shower…. By the sound that the ac makes, one would think it’s about to take off…They advertise “grills”, it’s one grill, we did use it last year, but it was a hustle, it took forever to heat up, only one side was actually working and I sure hope at least that has improved since last year, since we are planing on grilling a few times. The rooms have a small kitchenette, nothing to write home about, but for us as people who don’t want to be eating out every day that is a plus.We spent the day at the lake, so we haven’t used the pool yet this time around, but last year we really liked it, warm water, good size and not too crowded. This will most likely be our last stay here.

First I will say the room was clean for the most part. The pool was nice and well stocked with chairs and tables as well as lounge chairs and towels! We stayed in room 28 (2nd floor) there is not an elevator so just a heads up to that. This may be useful for people that cannot do stairs. There may be an elevator somewhere for staff that guests could use, but I do not know for certain. I would also suggest having a designated area for smokers. The Inn is non-smoking yet the location of the receptacles for disposing of cigarettes is right by the entrance from the pool and parking area, which we did have to walk past a gentlemen smoking right by the door. For the rate that is charged I definitely would've expected a nicer sofa, the one in our room looked like it came from a frat house, linens that were either stained or so used they were worn thin near where the sheets are labeled set K. Additionally, ceiling fans would be so useful in the rooms vs. the small desk fan which to plug in I had to stretch it in front of the closet in the king bedroom because the other plug would've had it blowing straight on me from the one bedside table. We have stayed in many different hotels and Inns in Door County and have paid roughly the same amount but in the others hotels we had a full kitchen with a much larger sink, stove and a balcony with a table and chairs. Lastly as we were packing up our car the cleaning crew were waiting outside of our room, I'm not sure if they were getting set to clean a different room or ours, either way it did make me feel rushed and this was before 9am.Settlement Inn does offer a light continental breakfast of bagels, pastry, coffee, yogurt, milk, juice, cereal and hardboiled eggs. They also have cards and games available in the lobby which was nice to use!Staff at the front desk were very friendly and I did appreciate the form to hang on our door for anything we may need for our room and they then had the items put in a bag hanging on our door.

We stayed here during the weekend we ran the Door County Half Marathon because the idea of a spa the next day was highly appealing. The atmosphere of the Inn was amazing. As you enter into the lobby, you are greeted with the scent of a real wood-burning fireplace, and the decor is rustic but comforting. Our room was much more than what I expected. It was the size of a small apartment WITH a mini kitchen (complete with fridge, sink, plates, silverware, glasses and dining table, etc), county charm, and a fireplace. As we were dropping our bags and exploring the room, the front desk made a courtesy call to our room to make sure the room was to our liking as asked if there was anything we needed. How considerate! At the spa, we each opted for a 60-minute Swedish massage... on a Sunday. The staff was incredibly accommodating and professional, the spa was warm and welcoming, and the massage was relaxing. The overall experience at the Inn was impeccable and we will be booking here next year. Hopefully we won't be too sore to check out the trails around the property next time.

We just wrapped up our 3rd Stay here at Settlement Courtyard Inn. The past 2 times we have rented out the Coach House for our family. We have thoroughly enjoyed our visit each and every time! The staff are all super friendly and helpful. The property sits on 200 acres and has numerous walking trails to explore. Very peaceful and serene. Our family has decided that Door County is our annual family vacation getaway and I can guarantee that every time we will stay here at Settlement.

Charming and cozy! The rooms were clean, and the common places where lovely! At night there is seating on a patio lit by string lights that was just beautiful. The location was great - (on the edge of Fish Creek closer to Egg Harbor) that made the down town area conveniently close but still peaceful. The breakfast is a bit smaller than at most resorts, but with all the local food places this was actually a plus. For my family the wifi was spotty at times but not horrible.

Nicely located lodging, very close to lots of shops and activities in the lovely Fish Creek. The bed was comfortable and there were sufficient amenities, it was nice having the kitchenette with full fridge. With being on the first floor near the entrance, we had blackout curtains for privacy, but it would have been nice to have some sheer curtains to balance some privacy with maintaining some more natural light. While the facility for the spa was underwhelming (it was just in one of the inn's rooms with since extra decorations), the manage therapists were very friendly and the couples massage was amazing.

Beautiful rooms and rustic decor with friendly staff willing to help out.My wife and I spent 2 nights here in late June. Our room was large and included a king size bed, kitchenette with a fridge, and fireplace. The staff was friendly willing to help solve any issues that came about during our stay. The decor of the hotel is more on the rustic side with wood cross-sections lining the walls where the breakfast is held and actual keys are used in the doors. We also did a couples massage that we both found to be very relaxing. The location is just a short drive from Fish Creek, and is within walking distance (0.3 miles) from Lautenbach's Winery to the North.NOTE:-If you booked a package deal online, be sure to call a few days ahead to verify everything is in order.

Great location, just outside of Fish Creek. Our king courtyard room had lots of space and included a gas fireplace, table and chairs, kitchenette, pullout sofa and still plenty of room to move around. Everything was very clean. Staff was helpful and interested in making our stay as nice as possible. The continental breakfast included breads, cereal, OJ, yogurt and whole fruit. We had wonderful massages at the spa. It was a lovely stay overall.

This place was so beautiful and cozy! The room had a fireplace which was a huge plus in brisk fall! We got a great deal on the room rate at the end of the season. Unfortunately, I didn't get a chance to check out the spa because I didn't plan ahead and they were booked. There's a trail from the inn that you don't want to miss! We got the most spectacular view and got to see some wildlife! Overall, I loved my experience and will definitely go back!

We stayed at Settlement Courtyard Inn for four nights in July, 2015. The family owned Inn is located on gorgeous acreage with a short drive to downtown Fish Creek. All staff were courteous, helpful and friendly!! The Inn was quiet and well maintained. Our room was updated, clean and spacious for a family of four. We utilized the mini kitchen area to make our daily lunches. The full sized refrigerator was well used! The beds were comfortable, the bathroom was very clean. The daily room service was timely and efficient. Our teenage daughters enjoyed the pool daily. The pool was well maintained as well. The courtyard area was shaded and had many picnic tables to enjoy the beautiful Wisconsin weather. The Inn also provides Webber grills, charcoal and lighter fluid. We enjoyed this for smores! The daily breakfast was well stocked and had a great variety for those more health conscious and those who enjoyed sweet treats. We enjoyed the Kashi cereal and fresh fruit options. We enjoyed the location of the Inn. Central proximity to Egg Harbor and Bailey's Harbor. We will absolutely consider another stay at the Inn should we return to Fish Creek!

Just back from three great days in Door County. The Settlement Inn was recommended by friends and was the perfect place to stay. Just far enough outside of Fish Creek to be incredibly peaceful, but so close we could be in the heart of town in just a couple of minutes. The hotel is wonderful, the staff friendly, and the pool delightful. The incredible bonus were what seemed like miles of beautiful hiking trails. We can only imagine how spectacular they must be in the fall and are already planning a return visit.

We stayed in the Coach House and what a hot mess this place was. Fruit flies were everywhere in the house. Beds were horribly uncomfortable. The whole place needs a deep cleaning. Windows were very dirty & window treatments were broken. Appliances were dirty along with dishes in cupboards. We had to wash before using them. Two active bee hives on deck so we couldn't be out there. No cushions for the chairs on deck no umbrella. Gap in door so bugs got in. Missing light switch buttons. Black and burned out lights. Dripping sink. Grill needed to be deep cleaned before we could use it. Advertised that there was a fire bowl to have bonfires. There was not. Supposedto be DVD's available at the front desk. There was not. Pool was supposed to be heated. It was COLD. The lists goes on...I talked to owner and she compensated us $30 a day. I would not recommend this place. Cleaning and updating would go a long way.

We loved it here. We came during the off season so pretty much everything closes at 10pm. Due to fog, we actually didn't arrive until 9pm. Jody, the owner kept in contact with us via text and ended up leaving the keys and a very thoughtful note inviting us to snacks and soda in the kitchen. The room was very clean, fireplace and whirlpool. It was so relaxing and in the morning, it smelled like trees and a warm fire. I would highly recommend and I fell in love with Door County speaking with Jody and hearing how the community caters to the local entrepreneur and it seems like the small businesses support and look out for each other.

The Settlement is like a second home to me. The warm, friendly staff are concerned that guests have desired amenities in comfortable surroundings. Located within a short hike to Fish Creek on groomed trails, the Inn is situated on a picturesque piece of land in a tranquil setting. Continental breakfast in the beautiful common room or under the pergola in good weather allows for great conversation. Quiet time by the fireplace is also an option. The inviting outdoor pool is a great place to cool down after a day of shopping on the peninsula or hiking through the many parks. All parts of the peninsula are just a short drive from this perfect location. I like this place so much that I have returned to it several times each year for the past thirty...or so. Give it a try. You can't help but like it.

SPA REVIEW-Didn’t stay but went to the spa and had to write a review since the massage was so incredible! If you get a chance to have James as the masseuse you will not be disappointed. He is incredible!! I get a lot of massages at home in Chicago and I have to say is probably one of the best I’ve ever had.
