I recently had the pleasure of enjoying a delightful breakfast at The Chef's Hat, a hidden gem in town that left me truly impressed. This place is the best. The quality of food, service, and atmosphere are exactly what we needed for an extended weekend vacation. We ate here for dinner and then breakfast the next day and both times were delicious. Try the pumpkin pear soup, any breakfast, the house margarita, and the New Orleans pasta. Oh, it's also right on the water, perfect for a gorgeous sunset.

This was a fantastic stop for breakfast. They were able to seat our group of seven quickly and the food was out before we knew it. The chef's Scrambles were delicious...I recommend the rosemary toast. Natalee had a strawberry smoothie that was light and amazing! We will certainly be back!

I stumbled across this restaurant by accident, but my dinner was so fantastic that I believe it may have been “divinely inspired.” The wait staff was warm and welcoming. I had the “crab stuffed shrimp and boursin cheese stuffed peppadew” for an appetizer. To say it was divine would be an understatement. It was one of those rare and delightful seafood dishes where you could both appreciate the texture, and savor each unique taste and zest that went into this dish within moments. The peppadew served as a wonderfully bold and robust contrast to the perfectly stuffed shrimp.And then came the “vegetable alfredo.” What sold me on ordering this dish was the variety of three different mushrooms included (shiitake, crimini, and oyster). My goodness, they contributed to the robust, slightly earthy (in the best possible way), and subtly creamy taste and texture. To put it simply- it was everything I always wanted in an American-style Alfredo, but never experienced.To conclude: this is a James Beard award caliber restaurant. The dishes are both visually and tastefully sensational. My idea of heaven is eating here again and again for all eternity.

This is my FAVORITE place to eat in all of Door County! We've been visiting Door County for the past 5 summers and this is always a must-stop for us for breakfast. Last year we went two days in a row because it's just that good! Highly recommend the avocado toast, fresh over-easy eggs, and breakfast potatoes. Also LOVE their specialty coffee drinks. Can't wait to visit again this summer :)

Great find! Recommended by a local owner. We all had selections from the Chef’s specials. Food and service were excellent. Rate 9 of 10. Outdoor seating at sunset was nice. Tiramisu was excellent. Excellent Brandy old-fashioned too.

Amazing all around - we loved the bruschetta, pear gorgonzola salad, and the vegetable alfredo the most! The short ribs were very nice, too. Ended the dinner with amazing tiramisu. Our waitress was so kind, upbeat, and helpful and we noticed the other servers were, too. Definitely recommended!!

Delicious food and the setting is so cute! Our server was hilarious and was very helpful with recommending items from the menu. When you visit you have to try one of the Naniamo bars off of the dessert menu, they're amazing!

I would not hesitste a bit in saying that this is most def amazing restaurant in door county.We stopped on our way back from northport to green bay.Good food, fall weather with angry lake michigan views , what else you want!Such amazing and warm people.Good food with quick service as wellTried spinach quesidilla and veggie pasta with tomato basil soup.Def def its a must try🎉⭐️🎉⭐️🎉⭐️🎉⭐️🍁🍁🍁🍁

We were there this past weekend for dinner, and ordered the Tomato Basil flatbread, the first time they brought it, it was all burnt. We requested it to be re-made, this time, very first bite and there was a piece of hard plastic which almost felt like it broke a tooth, we informed our waitress and she was a bit lackluster about, said a very apathetic sorry and said she will inform the kitchen, we said we are not going to eat the flatbread, do not need another replacement and asked the manager to be informed and her response was 'the manager is also in the kitchen'. She returned and said what she can do is not charge us for the flatbread, very unprofessional, we were not expecting anything more but were also not going to pay for the flatbread anyways. We finished the other food we had ordered, paid, and left. The manager did not even care to come out and talk to us. Hoping that no plastic was ingested from that one bite which may cause any internal issues.They definitely do not care, as they may feel that, we are tourists and probably not going to come back anyways.Never going to visit again and not recommended.

I want to preface this by saying that had we been sat somewhere else...the rating would have likely been a 5/5. .... this is possibly the best food that we have had during our long weekend here.Food was awesome. Service was over the top. Our server (long curly dark hair with glasses) was obviously busy and made the effort to check on us multiple times and make sure that we had everything that we needed. She also sat us because the hostess was otherwise occupied. HOWEVER, The entire experience was overshadowed by the disgusting wall covered with spiders less than a foot away from where we were eating.I highly recommend the food. I think they need to power wash and spray the siding of they are going to sit people next to ot. The entire breakfast had me looking over my shoulder.

So, so, so good! From the host, to server, and kitchen, everyone was friendly and hospitable. The food- AMAZING! I had the breakfast bowl (and I want it everyday from now on) and my hubby had the ham and cheese scramble. His was good, too! Def recommend.

Visited here because of a local’s great reviews. Very busy when we arrived about 5ish on a Sunday evening. Optioned to sit outdoors to dine as the weather was awesome. Staff was prompt & friendly especially for as busy as it was. Good selection of entree’s, sandwiches, salads, wraps & a few dessert options. Very good wine list, also selection of craft beers, cocktails & non-alcoholic beverages. Our food was very good & prices are better then I expected. We will definitely be returning.

Tuck away ever so slightly from busy Route 42 in Ephram, it is easy to drive by this place without ever noticing. But for anyone walking around the town, this is a pleasant surprise. I couldn’t decide among fabulous list of appetizers but they offered a sampler. Everything on the plate from crab stuffed shrimp to spinach & artichoke Parmesan dip was excellent. But exceptional as main items were, the real winner was Boursin cheese stuffed peppadews. The dish was perfectly paired with Door County Brewery’s cherry wheat beer.It is a great place for lunch in the outdoor patio overlooking busy street and the water. Highly recommended.

My husband and I visited for the first time tonight and although we've been to Door County many times, we hadn't visited Chef's Hat. Now that we have, it's going to be a must have on each trip. It's not that you should go here, you need to. I can't wait to try the breakfast. As for dinner, I had the meatloaf and my husband had the brisket. Both were fantastic. The meatloaf was one of my favorite meals of all time. It was that good. Brandy old fashioneds were also really good. And the artichoke dip. Can't wait to be back!

Great place to hangout post biking for miles. Best part of this resto is the location and the of course the food. It is located at the peak location where you can enjoy the nice view of beach and enjoy your drink and food. I have tried cherry lemonade with berry salad. It was awesome. I recommend this place for you for sure.

The breakfast was good! Very friendly establishment. We met a nice couple there that told us they love this place and always get the skillets and scones. Scones were delicious. Next time I will have to try a skillet breakfast. Short wait.

We had dinner here on both nights that we were in Door County. With my wife's dietary restrictions (gluten-free and vegetarian), we basically took a stroll through Ephraim looking at menus and talking to the managers if needed. I think this is one of the best places for someone with those restrictions. The owner comes out and talks to the customers.The beer selections were good, although they were out of two of the three beers on tap. Desserts are awesome as well. The portion sizes on the entrees are not too big (appropriate for one person). The food definitely had a fresh, made from scratch feel to it and the ingredients were high quality.The location and ambience are excellent. We watched the most amazing sunset a 2-minute walk from this restaurant. Their outside seating is positioned such that you could probably get a great sunset view right from your table.Vegetarian options: Lots of vegetarian options.Dietary restrictions: They have gluten-free bread and pasta.
