Ope Haus has an incredible food and cocktail menu, and we loved their fish fry! The fish is battered with a tasty, thick PBR beer batter and served up with your choice of potato, cottage cheese or coleslaw, and yummy cornbread. I highly recommend trying their sweet potato waffle fries. They’re the best sweet potato fries I’ve ever had–because they’re actually crispy!

Heard about the Bloody Mary’s so came to try them. They were fabulous! Mix is made in house and just the right amount of spice. Never expected such a great food menu too! We all loved our meals. The fried chicken is the best I ever had (had it on a Ceasar Salad). Friends loved their burgers too. Staff super friendly and fun. Great atmosphere. We will be back!

We've eaten here three times now. The first two were good. The third time had the chicken and biscuits dish. It was not good. Chicken shredded so fine it was like shreds of toothpicks, carrots and celery so small they looked like large spices. Gravy had no flavor at all. Much in need of salt and pepper. Biscuits were not fully raised and were heavy and dough like in the center. The whole dish was nothing more than flavored Roux with no substance to bite into. Especially at the price of $15.99. We didn't finish it or take it home. The burger, on the other hand, was great!

So thankful the Bures family made this recommendation, because after a long morning picking strawberries I was feeling kinda hangry. Ope is a fantastic local find! They have a good selection of seltzers, creative and juicy burgers and appetizers that are hard to choose from. It was so nice to have such an awesome local hangout open on a Monday for lunch!I can’t wait to come back! Don’t forget to pick up your Ope gear on the way out.

Ope! Haus Pub was a complete surprise. I saw it on Google maps and rolled the dice. I'm so glad I did. I was traveling with some friends visiting from Munich, Germany. We were greeted and seated immediately by a kind and friendly employee. What came next was magic. We all ordered the Ope! burger. It was - and this is not hyperbole -THE best burger I have eaten in my life. The fresh, local beef was the star of the show, backed up by supporting actors of beer cheese sauce, cheese curds, locally sourced bacon, caramelized onions, and a delicious pretzel bun. The flavor of the beef was unparalleled. It was so completely obvious how fresh it was and how rich it was. The rest of the flavors mixed and mingled, none overpowering the others. Balance. Precision. Delicacy. It was truly the best I've ever eaten.The poutine was also really good.

The Ope Burger was probably the best burger we ever had. We all ordered that burger because it already sounded so tasty on the menu. The fries were crunchy on the outside and fluffy in the inside. The service was great. We also had poutine for the first time and the gravy was really rich so the fries were not soaked all the way trough. So if you consider going there, stop considering and just go. You won't regret it.

What an amazing "Diamond in the rough"! This has been on my list of places to visit since moving to Mount Horeb but hadn't made the drive until tonight... and Wow!The cheese curds were amazing... the homemade batter was so light and fluffy... I could have eaten these alone all night long. They absolutely did not carry the usual heavy fried feeling a lot of area cheese curds do- it's Wisconsin, you've gotta try them!This is not to mention the incredible and perfectly cooked burgers; how often when you tell a restaurant you want a medium burger does it not come out well done? This was not a problem at Ope Haus! Had 3 burgers between us, and every one of them was cooked spot on; I can't tell you the last time I've had that happen.Everything was so perfect; the wait staff was friendly and inviting and offered great recommendations... the food was perfect... there was plenty of elbow room between tables and each other... and the atmosphere is exactly what we were looking for.I had a Brandy Old Fashioned, the true Wisconsin way and followed it with their Maple Bourbon Old Fashioned and they were absolutely on point.Didn't see the cornbread on the menu, but were able to add it to our meals since it comes with the salads... hard to find good cornbread up here, but Ope house really has it all.I wish I could have eaten more... there are so many more things I want to try. We will be back. What are you doing tomorrow?

We had high hopes for this place. It popped up in my news feed with 'best fish fry' something or other. For our first, and unfortunately likely our last, visit we stopped by for a late afternoon burger, just before the bar shift change. Our initial server was lovely -- pleasant, friendly, etc. She made a wonderful cocktail for me.We ordered our burgers and I settled up with our current server before she left and her replacement arrived.When our ordered arrived, delivered by new to us server 'Brittany'. I asked for mustard, and we waited as she rustled around the bar preparing for her shift. (I like mustard on my burger, so I waited a bit to dive in). After waiting, I asked "could we get some mustard please?" The reply, yelled from behind the bar "I heard you. I'm all alone here". WOW --- we were both dumbfounded, in awe and speechless. The rude demeanor of this person was like I had never seen before in server. When Brittany arrived with the mustard (a couple squirts in a paper condiment cup) she threw it on the bar toward me. No, I am not exaggerating. Double WOW.What you have read is an honest, fair and actual account of our experience at Ope. As for the burger -- meh.Sad, as we were hoping to try the fish fry.

BEST BURGER I’VE HAD! You gotta go if you’re in the area. Food is incredible and honestly, great for people with high blood pressure because the food doesn’t have much salt. Don’t let that fool you it is flavorful as hell. Sundae as a dessert was good too.Dietary restrictions: Great for people who can’t eat much salt because they don’t put a lot, but you can add.Parking: A lot of parking spaces available.

Visited on a Saturday at 6PM. The parking lot was full so we parked on a side street. Thought there would be a wait, but there was plenty of seating available.The interior of the restaurant is wide open, so it was a bit loud with most of the tables filled.The staff was very friendly. Our waitress was very attentive and visited our table every 5-10 minutes.Everyone at our table got the prime rib. From the menu the item is served every other Saturday.The prime rib was fairly meh. It was decently sized, but lacked the typical seasoning (pepper crust on the outside rind) that I have grown accustomed to at Wisconsin Supper Clubs and Restaurants. It wasn't bad, but also not good for the market price rate ($35). In addition the meal came with a choice of potato and seasonal vegetable. The seasonal vegetable was sweet potato, which is a whole lot of potato.We will most certainly be back to give the rest of the menu a try.

We had a great lunch with family on a Sunday afternoon. The menu has plenty of great options for everyone, and we all enjoyed our meals. The service was friendly and efficient, and the atmosphere is relaxed. We sat on the patio which was pleasant. This was a great restaurant option near Governor Dodge State Park!We had the cheese curds, Hot Honey Fried Chicken sandwich, waffle & regular fries, and burgers. Everything was delicious!

There are no better chicken wings around. Excellent spices and done to perfection. Also not those dinky little things you get at most places. If you want a full meal, these are the ones to get. I have had their wings, Friday fish fry and their most delicious " all the fixins Pizza so far, and will continue to work my way through most of the menu. Love it!!!

Maybe we caught them in an off day but it was overall a disappointment for the amount of money we paid. The host was great but that's about it. The walleye was not good and do not recommend. The place was really busy and it was clear that they weren't prepared for the rush. Maybe will try again if we're in town but would not go back just to eat there.

Great food, amazing staff! I rented the party room at the Ope Haus for a surprise 40th birthday party for my boyfriend right before Christmas. Taylor and her team went above and beyond in helping me plan and set up the party - and they even played a part in tricking my boyfriend for the surprise! The food was delicious, and they're so easy to work with. True Midwestern hospitality with the best people around. Thank you, Ope Haus!

To start the food has always been good, however, today's visit was extraordinary. We locked our keys in the car and were stranded there hours from home with our young puppy in the cold. Every person working there today went above and beyond to do everything to help. Even the patrons who called their friend who came and unlocked our vehicle for us. A big thank you to Taylor for your help, kindness and generosity! We will be back!

Great food and atmosphere!Ordered the Mushroom Scansin Swiss burger on a pretzel bun with sweet potato fries. Best mushroom and swiss I've ever had because of the oyster mushrooms! (I forage wild oyster mushrooms and have grown them. One of my favorite mushrooms!) Obsessed with the sweet potato fries as well!Went on a Friday night and the parking lot was packed so we parked a street over and walked. Packed lot but still able to get right in. Small outdoor seating area - I think only 2 or 3 tables, and ample seating inside - normal tables, bar, and high tops. The wait for food wasn't long. Fast and Midwest friendly service!It is all one big room, so it feels like a busy pub.Definitely recommend! Will be dining here again. Looking forward to this new restaurant bringing in business to Barneveld! Barneveld has very limited dining options so this is a wonderful addition!

We have been here several times since they opened, both as a couple and with our adult children and grandchild. This place is always awesome!If you have a choice, get seated in Brandi's area. She's an amazing server, is very detail-oriented, knows the menu like the back of her hand, and has a great memory!Since they've opened, we've had the poutine, gouda mac bites, Ope burger, Jam it all burger, Mushroom Scansin Swiss burger, You Betcha burger, their walleye & cod fish fry dinners, a couple of salads, several specials, and more desserts than I care to think about. Their food is always delicious and arrives quickly and hot. They make an excellent Old Fashioned, as you would expect.We have dined here many times, and will be back many more.NOTE: If you intend to listen to the TouchTunes system, sit at the east end of the restaurant. The volume in the west end, where most of the seating is, is intentionally low so diners can talk to each other without yelling over music.
