We spent a few nights at the Blacksmith Inn On the Shore in Baileys Harbor while on our honeymoon and loved it. The room was very spacious and clean. We loved the private view of the lake, the fireplace and the decor of the room. The bed and pillows were quite comfortable, and the whirlpool was a plus. Complimentary beverages, cookies and popcorn in the lobby were appreciated. The complimentary breakfast was surprisingly delicious. Staff was very courteous and helpful. We are looking forward to returning next year for our anniversary, possibly sooner!

We spent one night at the Blacksmith Inn On the Shore, and had a wonderful experience. We were greeted so warmly by the staff in the office and offered complimentary beverages and snacks. Our room was very clean and cozy, and decorated beautifully. Since we visited in the winter, we enjoyed the gas fireplace tremendously. Choosing and receiving the breakfast offered, was very straight forward and lovely. We can tell a lot of care and thought goes into the experience that they are providing to guests. Being in Baileys Harbor, we had views of beautiful Lake Michigan and easy access to restaurants and parks. We would 100% come back here again and recommend to others.

Stayed in room 12. Beautiful view of the lake from the balcony. Check-in was quick and easy. The decor in the building and our room was a callback to times gone past with modern amenities. The room was clean and the fireplace and jet tub worked with no issues. Plenty of hot water and good pressure in the shower. Coffee pods for the in room Keurig, cold drinks, popcorn and delicious cookies were available in the lobby of our building. You fill out a card each day indicating what you want for breakfast and the time you want it. Breakfast was delivered on time each morning and was good, nothing fancy but filling enough for a good start to the day. Highly recommend! We have stayed here a couple more times since this initial review. Each time our stay has been wonderful. Staff is friendly, our room is clean and charming. Our breakfast is delivered on time each morning. Can't say enough good things about this place. We will continue to make this our go to accommodations when we visit Door County.

Lovely place with great cozy rooms. The beach is far in but the views are so nice and relaxing. The staff was not very engaging and limited their talk to the bare minimum. Breakfast is served in a brown bag left by your room, the coffee is limited to a provided pod to use on the coffee maker in the room. Over all, a nice positive experience, though pricey.

We did an extended weekend here and overall it was a decent stay. We arrived the first night to room 8 and enjoyed the cute decor and views from our patio area. In the morning we unfortunately woke up to ants crawling on all our bathroom items. I called the office and luckily had another room open so they moved us to room 10. The man was very friendly, but if they didn’t have another room I’m unsure how that would have been remedied. I knew breakfast was going to be simple, but for the price per night I really think there should at least be more flavors than what’s offered and a toasted bagel shouldn’t be rock hard. The beds are firm so if you like a firm bed that is great, but I’m glad we had massages at the end of our trip because my back was not happy. We ended up going to the store to buy a soft blanket, pillows, and breakfast snacks to make our stay more enjoyable. The jetted tub, board games available, and quiet atmosphere were the highlights of our stay here. The breakfast, initial ants, and bed situation were the lowlights. I don’t think I’d be back, but this is all personal preference and everyone should pick places to stay based on what they enjoy :) this was not it for me, but doesn’t mean that this isn’t the place for everyone else. Staff was very friendly.

We spent a long weekend here and had the best experience! The room was so clean and had everything we needed. We loved how charming the decor was and that we could see the lake from our window! The location was amazing and we could walk to all that we needed. The beach access was incredible and made our experience so fun!! We had our own little private beach it seemed and could paddle board and kayak around the lake. I hope I can visit Blacksmith again soon! I couldn’t recommend it enough.

We stayed here for our honeymoon. When we arrived we were greeted by the sweetest lady. The room has a large bedroom with a tub and fireplace and all balconies have great views of the water. The inn has a parking lot between its two buildings. The grounds are perfectly landscaped with the most beautiful flowers. There is tons to do in the area and with 15 minutes by car options are endless. We will definitely be back! Service and accommodations 5 stars!

We had the most wonderful stay at Blacksmith Inn On The Shore! From the moment you walk through the red front doors, you will be completely enchanted. To anyone who appreciates country antique/farmhouse style decor this is a must stay, you will be in heaven because simply everything is in that style. The rooms are comfortable and very private, the balconies for every room overlooking the lake are amazing. Breakfast options are delicious and plentiful, delivered right to your door. Amenities are great, kayaks/bikes/movies to borrow, chairs on the beach, snacks/drinks in the lobby. We honestly couldn't think of a single negative, or even comment/suggestion to improve our stay, it was perfect! Thank you!

We stayed here the last week of April and it was great for a quiet getaway. Our favorite features were the prompt and generous breakfast delivered to the door, in-room tub, balcony (even though it was too cold), and cozy privacy of the room. We also loved the cookies and popcorn in the lobby. Our bed was comfortable, the staff were friendly and helpful, the coffee maker worked fine once I figured out how to run it, and I can't say that I really noticed any particular road noise during the shoulder season. As it's a historic building, you did hear some occasional noise from other guests and staff, but never at inappropriate hours. Knowing this is something I'm sensitive to, I just made sure to book a room on the top floor so nobody was walking above us. Overall, I'd say this is the perfect place if you're looking for a historic inn with a little character. It may not be your perfect fit if you're hoping to be wrapped in modern luxury. Also, just in case literally anyone cares, there are white washcloths provided in addition to the black, which have "makeup" stitched onto them so you know they're for a specific purpose. I found it convenient to have a guilt-free option if I was cleaning up some mascara.

Had a really terrible experience with management that I will share so others are aware. Apparently they have a policy where only two couples from a group may stay at this place at once, which was not made clear on the website, and because of that they cancelled my reservation twice. Everyone in the group had made individual reservations. Then when my sister called to ask about why just my reservation was cancelled, she was met with a host who essentially admitted to looking up my address and the addresses of other people who were planning to stay here to gauge if we knew each other. It is also a violation of my privacy to look up my card payment to screen me this way instead of calling or making the policy clear.

Absolutely perfect, incredible, beautiful, fantastic stay! This was our second time here and we can’t wait to go back for a third. From morning to night, it was all wonderful. The Grab-n-Go (Covid times) breakfast delivered to our door at exactly the minute we requested, was served hot and was very delicious. And, enjoying it on our private balcony with sunrise views was an added bonus. The rooms are charming and lovely with plenty of space and a comfy bed.We enjoyed all of the extra amenities the Inn had to offer, too. Bikes, paddle boards, kayaks to name a few. The variety of cold/hot drinks and delicious snacks in the entry were just another added touch that makes this place so great. We enjoyed chatting with the owner/staff and they were always willing to offer tidbits for activities and places to eat on the peninsula. We can’t wait to see you again, Blacksmith Inn on the Shore!

This place is adorable! We stayed in room 7. What a great view from the private balcony. The balcony had a hammock and a nice sitting area. The room had an amazing whirlpool tub for two. The jets were quiet and relaxing. The bed was comfy and the water pressure in the shower was good. The owner was very kind and accommodating. We would definitely stay here again.

Trying new places around the Door and this one is a gem! Reasonable prices, very comfortable room with an amazing sunrise view! We were able to pre-select each evening from a variety breakfast items that were delivered to door at our chosen time each morning. Everything was wonderful- just regret not trying the house made, warm cinnamon apples before our last morning… they were AMAZING! Loved the daily oatmeal cherry cookies and there are board games and plenty of videos for a quiet evening in. The Inn is located within walking distance of the unique Ridges Nature Preserve which is a treasure to hike any time of the year! The only remotely negative item this stay was a bit of early morning vehicle noise from the main road which runs right in front of the main house), but it wasn’t constant or disturbing enough to be any sort of concern. Overall, this is now one of our favorite Inns!

Me and my wife stayed for our honeymoon. Gorgeous building. Our room was perfect: very clean, comfy, and romantic. Room service was great! The only thing that I would want different would have been a microwave in our room instead of having to go downstairs.

It was not as advertised. The in room tub was great! Breakfast at the door was nice. However, the cost does not match the experience. Staff was occasionally friendly. Although the location and view seem ideal, the constant noise and putrid smell from the “beach” soil the experience. You can hear everything fellow guests are saying anywhere at the inn. Staff often stomp around and slam doors. The bed and pillows were pitiful. It was a painful sleep. There was no light where the coffee maker is. Since it is plugged into the wall and there was so no light in the cubbard , you were forced to attempt to operate the inconsistently performing kuerig in the dark. Black washcloths are a huge no in the hospitality industry and yet were provided. The inn also charges you on the first night which is fine but seems very rushed when hotels typically charge upon checkout. We will not make the trip or expense again.Updating from 3 to 2 star upon new information: in addition to our less than desirable stay, our family tried to call to arrange a gift to be present in our room upon check in. The rude clerk on the phone offered only two alcohol options. When asked if there was anything non alcoholic (Candy, soda, a single balloon, a post it note saying congratulations, something), the clerk bluntly stated “no” and stopped the conversation. The clerk had so many options to provide good customer service- politely decline off menu requests, suggest alternate options, or perhaps accommodate a simple request. Furthermore, there was no acknowledgement of our celebration at check in over a month later- not a simple greeting. This is the kind of service expected at a 1 star accommodation.

Everything is fantastic. I can't overstate how much I love this place. Our room is very nice. We love the hammock and the whirlpool tub. The breakfast is good. The afternoon lemonade is my favorite lemonade. And they have local Apple cider that's also probably my favorite. The grounds are peaceful, private, and beautiful. I enjoy walking on the boardwalk through the tall cattails. It's lovely to sit on the pier. And so nice to not have to bring our kayaks with us - instead we used theirs. It's nice being in the middle of downtown Bailey's Harbor but feeling far away from town.

I wish we had booked more nights... this place is beautiful, relaxing and what a view we had in Room 6. We checked in and then went for a wonderful tandem bike ride (Inn has bikes available to use as you want at no charge). Later we were able to walk down the street to the Corner Pub for a wonder fish dinner. Having a view of the lake to relax and a hammock was wonderful to star watch that evening. We loved everything about this Inn. The next morning a light breakfast is available to load up a tray and enjoy from the room. We will be back soon!

We stayed 4 nights in the off season for our honeymoon and it was simply amazing. The rooms are cozy, quiet, and comfortable. The lake views are fabulous. The whirlpool tub was so relaxing and the fireplace was so romantic. We loved the breakfast and afternoon snacks they provided (hot cider and popcorn). It was amazing, in every way I can think of. We are planning to return for our one year anniversary.

A beautiful inn with gorgeous antique furniture, excellent breakfast, snacks and friendly helpful staff. We stayed several nights and were happy when it rained all day. The rain gave us a great excuse to stay in our room!! Fantastic garden area and a beach loaded with kayaks, paddle boards and beach chairs. We were sad to leave. What a place!! Easily the best of the best in Door County!!

Visited in May at the beginning of the summer season. Stayed in Harbor House, room 12. Beautiful, well appointed rooms, wonderful lake view. Bed was very nice, but for midday naps it was the hammock all the way. They're huge, very comfortable, and so sturdy that they max out at 3 people or 700 lbs. We loved the hammock so much we asked them where they got it and bought one for our house. The Harbor House itself is a great old structure with massive old wood beams and planks. Very warm and inviting.Amenities included free cookies (big oatmeal and cherry monsters when we were there), popcorn, hot cocoa and tea (a special hot water tap is available to make these 24/7) and very good coffee. Continental breakfast was good: fruit, hard-boiled eggs, single serve cereal and yogurt, that sort of thing. I think they also had some kind of fresh-baked muffin available which changed over the course of our stay. The staff and owners were great, treated us very well and gave great recommendation for restaurants and activities.Overall, we both loved our stay here. We will definitely be back.

Easily the nicest, most beautiful, friendly place we have ever stayed. The service was absolutely incredible. All of the staff were very kind. We were given a tour, told about all of the snacks and drinks available, and the activities they have to offer. Our room was cleaner than any chain hotel we have ever been to. We felt like we were at home. Very spacious. I'm typically not really comfortable in a hotel but I felt like I was back home in Kansas on the farm I grew up on. I cant say enough nice things about this place. Absolutely worth every penny we paid. We will only stay here when we are in Door County next time.

We loved our first stay at Blacksmith Inn in 2019 and couldn't wait to go back. Our stay in 2021 was not as nice. Rooms are great and they have done a lot of good things to keep you safe during the pandemic - which were greatly appreciated. Our issue is with the reaction received when we had an issue. We spent a weekend at BI, on the first night I awoke to the sound of crinkling paper. I knew we had a mouse in the room, but it would hide whenever I moved (so I wasn't 100% sure it was a mouse). The second night at about 2 a.m. the noise started again. This time we were quick enough to get a light on and see the mice scatter into the fireplace. We did not sleep the remainder of the night. On our way out we informed the man at the desk that the room has mice in it. The reply was lacking with "they usually don't get up that high" and then pretty much said nothing else. A little more concern would have been appropriate.Unfortunately, while we loved this place the first time we stayed - not sure we will go back after this attitude like they didn't care. I noticed a review where someone else mentioned that someone at the front desk did not act interested in their issue. Not sure if it is the same person, but we also did experience this same attitude.Unfortunate as we thought we had found a place to stay at for years to come.

Staying now for our honeymoon. Sept 2020. Everything exceeded my expectation. So very cozy. High end cottage decor not tacky. Water pressure was fine...bed comfy.... service and food are impeccable. The cherry oatmeal cookies and popcorn are a delicious added bonus. The view is amazing!!! I definitely recommend Blacksmith Inn. Bryan, the inn keeper is very nice and good at his job as well.

This was our 3rd time staying at the Blacksmith Inn On the Shore, but our first during a pandemic. All of the charming aspects of the property persist: impeccable service, cozy and well-appointed rooms with endless amenities, convenient location, and beautiful views. The Covid modifications you’ll notice are a welcome addition for health-conscious travelers: common area mask requirement, individually packaged popcorn/cookies, breakfast delivery to your room, modified check-in, check-out, and cleaning procedures...all to help further the health and safety of the staff and guests. I cannot recommend this property enough!

Our stay so far has been absolutely amazing. The rooms are clean and free of dust. The beds are so comfortable and big! There are always snacks, tea, coffee, hot cocoa, oatmeal and sometimes lemonade in the main area of each building. If you are thinking of booking this Inn, just do it now. You won’t regret it. My wife and I came here on our honeymoon. If you let them know ahead of time, they give you a complimentary bottle of wine. We will be coming here to celebrate milestone anniversaries.

My fiancé surprised me with a get away here. If you are looking for a romantic get-away whether an anniversary, a honeymoon or even a "just because", the Blacksmith Inn will definitely NOT disappoint! Aside from the beautiful room, the ambiance, scenic views of lake Michigan, etc. The hosts were amazing! It was by far the best service I have ever received while on vacation.
