Wow! The great black cat! Perfect 6oz cappuccino, delicious flavorful food, fun environment, even has used books for sale and a back door patio. Felt like I was in another time. Just like many others I ordered my coffee and breakfast sandwich then went across the street to the bakery and picked up treats to take along on my road trip.Thank you Black Cat for reminding me that great coffee and a bite to eat is a magical way to start the day.

Love the vibe of this coffee house. It was super busy- standing room only- when we came, so we just got a few drinks to go. It was right before lunch time, on a farmer's market weekend. Even though it was packed, we only had to wait a few minutes. Drinks were delicious. I got a honey vanilla iced latte. Would love to come back when it's not so busy to try some of the food.

Cute, excellent coffee, clean & lovely barista flair! Must stop!! Staying in town for a couple days, I stopped in three times for a coffee. Fun friendly environment. Great decor. While there I noticed some locals were know by their first name, cool! A lovely place to sit quietly or to enjoy with a few friends. The Lake Superior art on the walls is a nice touch as is the assortment of cards available for sale.

Black Cat was our first stop when we got into Ashland; we needed a caffeine boost and some fuel after the long drive from the cities and we were not disappointed.The staff were great, greeting us with a welcoming attitude and providing excellent service throughout our visit.The nachos took a bit, but the wait went quickly with our delicious drinks in hand and amidst the comfortable atmosphere of the shop, with an array of customers coming and going, bringing stories and greetings with them as they did.The nachos were superb, smothered in cheese and beans, with a side of perfectly prepared guacamole.I hope to come here again soon, the next time we are in the Ashland area we will be back! 💙

It’s so beautiful I have lavender matcha tea with almond milk and it was delicious. I also had the spuds and shrooms pizza and it was amazing. The artwork is like no other and the vibe is one of the best I’ve experienced! Also they have clean restrooms with art in them.

Our experience at Black Cat Coffeehouse was not great. The lady who took our order was quiet, looked disinterested, and didn’t explain to us our coffee would not be brought out with our food - so it was getting cold for 10-15 minutes. We chose from two dirty booths, cleaning the cleaner of the two off ourselves. The food was good but uninspiring.

Wonderful little place to get coffee in Ashland, WI! Went with an almond milk honey lavender latte. The latte was really good! The drink was made pretty quick considering how busy they were at the time. The atmosphere was really nice with plenty of spots to sit and enjoy your drinks/food if someone wanted. The servers were really friendly. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone who is looking for some good coffee from a local spot.

Went for a nice breakfast on my cross country drive. It was worth the extra drive from Duluth. Good food and nice atmosphere. It can be very busy and places can be hard to find. Once we were done breakfast, we went to the bakery accross the street for another pastry before hitting the road again. Note that the bakery and the Black Cat work hand in hand together bringing fresh baked goods every morning !Vegetarian options: They have something for everyone

So much more than great coffee! I haven’t had a meal here that wasn’t amazing. The Sammy, the BC Burrito, and this garden omelette with root hash have all been delicious, not too expensive and full of local, flavorful ingredients. The atmosphere is relaxing. The only thing that is a bummer, for me, is that the internet is spotty and there isn’t many outlets, so as somebody who works remotely, this is disappointing, but not enough to keep me away. The food is just. So. Good!

Chill coffee shop. The crowd is a mix in age, purpose and expressions. I enjoy going there with my family because of the diverse menu, laid back environment and small play area for the children.

Returned after almost a year from the first time. Thank you to all the people working 12/4, all you were super sweet and nice thank you! Being autistic and a member of the LGBTQ community is hard when traveling outside the city, but this place is like a nice Warm hug and a safe place. I love seeing everyone openly express them selves.The people and atmosphere are friendly and positive. The food was super yummy and it’s awesome that the fruit is fresh and really ripe(so yummy 😋) the coffee is really good(have to come back to try more!), I really enjoy the different art being displayed and being available to guests to buy. I never noticed the reading book in the back, very nice touch for introverts just looking for a place to relax and people watch. 10/10 recommend to all my friends that’ll be traveling near here. Again thank you to the staff being so friendly and kind.Ps. The lil Kiki deliver stickers were fun to find and smile at.

Strolling along the streets of downtown Ashland we stumbled upon Black Cat Coffeehouse. The cafe offers delicious breakfast items, baked goods (from the bakery across the street) and hot beverages.

The place is adorable! The variety in food and drink is very cool. They have some fun unique drinks for the seasons. The atmosphere and customers were the best part! Very cozy and cute, lots of friendly locals and travelers where you will find a nice place to sit inside.Service was adequate, not talkative and not detailed answers to menu questions. But the biggest disappointment was the delay in getting my drink. The servers were not hasty, they would stop and talk and then keep working. There were several orders and plenty of workers to get them done, but they putzed around and did not give me any farewell when my beverage was finally ready. I had lots of time to chat with other guests and look at the cute seating area.Vegetarian options: Plant milk choices available! Lots of coffee shop drinks! Vegan food options and lots of vegetarian options. No vegan cheese, but lots of options either vegetarian or lite vegan. Fun food menu, creative choices.

Kind of a silly story with this review... We live in the UP and have family near Duluth, and also canoe in the Boundary Waters whenever we can, so we pass through Ashland fairly often. Usually we are on the hunt for coffee at that point in the trip. We're pretty sure that we've stopped at Black Cat, gotten drinks and food, been really happy about both, and *meant* to leave a review at least four times now. Every time, the sign outside seems familiar, and then we walk in, see the bookshelves, menu boards, and friendly staff, and go '...Oh yeah, duh, we love this place!'It's taken a few years, but the consistency with which we've enjoyed and been surprised by this place only serves to increase our confidence in a 5-star rating. Here's to our next stop being deliberate - but, we're sure, no less enjoyable.
