Ashland Baking Company is hands down the best bakery I’ve ever been to…in the world. No joke.Flaky, buttery layers adorn the croissants and the fruit spreads that bask in the center of each danish appear to have been made from fruits picked at peak harvest.I drive to Ashland just for a flaky, perfectly baked cinnamon roll or a beautiful French baguette. The pecan rolls are so amazing and the sweetness is always balanced so perfectly.I am so impressed with the talents of these bakers and this bakery. It’s rare to find a gem like this one. I travel all over searching for baked goods half as decadent as these.I love that the sugar cookies are actually baked and not those doughy-flour-tasting-clumps with excessive too-sweet frosting all over them.I just left there and I got: 3 cinnamon rolls, 1 pecan roll, a brandy fruit coffee cake, 4 sugar cookies and zero afternoon plans.Highest recommendation of this bakery.

Incredibly delicious almond croissant and lemon bar! Had to wait a bit for service and the young men working had loud rap music playing which didn't fit the atmosphere 😆 Still put a buck in the tip jar after paying for 2 treats though because we appreciate seeing people working (we were in Bayfield earlier in the day and almost every place was closed)! Will be back here for sure!

Just like the Black Cat- I selfishly wish they had more vegan (and vegan +gluten free) options as the ones they do have are INCREDIBLE. This place makes me so happy. If you ever need a cake, regardless of your dietary needs- you must go through Ashland Baking. I want to eat everything I see here. The atmosphere and even just the smell is dreamy. Love this place!

From now on any time I’m in Ashland I’ll be stopping here. It’s hard to have any control once you walk in the door and see the cases full of wonderful baked goods. Ashland, you’re very lucky to have such an excellent bakery in your city.

We stop by the Ashland Bakery Co to grab some croissants and coffee this morning. They were, without a doubt, some of the best croissants I have ever eaten. I had an almond croissant and a chocolate one, and my friend had a chocolate croissant and a cinnamon roll. She said the cinnamon roll was wonderful too. After we were done, we went back inside and got two more for later. Great place with great service, don’t miss it if you’re in the area.

I was traveling in the area last month and stopped in to pickup some bakery. I was blown away by the Orange Cardamon Croissants! I found myself going back to get more, two other times during my week in Bayfield. Literally the best croissant I’ve ever eaten in my life. What a gem! Definitely stop here if you are traveling, and if you are lucky 🍀 to live in the area, stop here often!

I'm not one to give bad reviews but after reading all the great reviews of The Ashland Baking Co. I feel compelled to let others know.I went there on a Sunday morning. They open at 8am which is oddly late for a bakery. The bakeries I frequent open much earlier.I ordered cinnamon rolls and was told to come back in half an hour because they weren't ready yet. I returned to find a gigantic Danish. No frosting, not yeasty and no noticeable cinnamon flavor.I've never been so let down for breakfast from a bakery. The selection of sweets was very minimal but they did have a good selection of bread, although as I was a tourist didn't try.Staff was cold and offputting.I'm very sorry but I cannot reccomend this place to others who are looking for quality sweets to satisfy their family.

We ordered a wedding cake from the Ashland Baking Company and it was just great (picture is by the Autumn Dog Studio).I also had a croissant when I stopped by to pick up the tasting cakes and honestly it was up there in the best croissants I've had outside of France.

I was recently on vacation in Wisconsin visiting my mom. We were in Ashland for the day and stopped on Main St for some coffee and we seen this bakery and decided to stop in. We ended up buying a few pastry items and some breads. This is a little local gem and everything they had was delicious. I had a Danish that had fresh fruit on top and mu girlfriend had a chocolate croissant. When we are in the area again we will be stopping here again and buying twice as much. You can tell that even the locals appreciated this place as they were very busy with a constant flow of people and sold out of a few items as well.

Small Town bakery to stop into! Not a tone going on in Ashland but this stop plus Black Cats across the street ads a charm & a destination stop for breakfast or lunch. Had to go take a look even as I'm ceileac. We need to support local businesses. I didn't buy, but hubby & I were curious to see the hometown shop. Stuffed with baked items & bread cutting accessories.

We had the pleasure of picking up some pastries and bread while in the area. There are a lot of whiney reviews about things being available at specific times… my husband and I shared a cinnamon roll and a caramel pecan roll and picked up a loaf of bread to use for French toast at our campsite. Let me just say, these pastries are some of the best I’ve ever had. Seriously artisanal quality. I moaned when I took a bite. The laminated dough for the cinnamon rolls is genius. The bread that the young man working recommended made the best French toast. We hit the bakery at a time when there were plenty of options, agree that we would be happy to wait. Art takes time. I waited in the car with our daughter while my husband ran in and he said the staff was super welcoming and friendly.

We stopped in late on Saturday afternoon and they had obviously been busy because there wasn't a huge selection, but there were still several loaves of bread. I got a wonderful cranberry walnut sourdough, but it was a tough choice! The guy working the front was very friendly and welcoming, and working hard to get the store clean before they closed. The store is small and I imagine there's a wait sometimes but it's well worth the wait so be patient.

This place is awesome. I have live up here for so long and never had so bread from this place. It's a cool place to look at bread and sweat things. The bread is very reasonably priced for home made bread. It tastes amazing. Thanks will be back again soon.

Fantastic bread and variety. We are so very lucky to have such great French-style bread in our little town. Pastries, baguettes, Italian loafs, sweets and more!

I don't give up five stars very easily. You have to be exceptional, not just good. Ashland Baking is definitely exceptional. We only sampled a couple of things on Sunday morning. The Danish was fruity and sweet without being gooey, the croissants were possibly the best I've ever had, including from boulangeries that are considered top ranked. We did not try the bread - this trip, but will be back for that! And then there was the quiche. I love quiche. It's good cold, it's good warm, you can fix it a number of ways, and if it's good, it's really good. If it's lukewarm on a soggy crust - not worth the eggs and flour that were sacrificed. This was beyond good. Part of that is that the Black Cat (across the street) had warmed it to perfection. The crust was still flakey, the pie was uniformly warmed, and the cheese on top just caramelized. The texture and taste were sublime. Salty feta, spinach that did not come from a freezer, perfectly seasoned, and delicious. There is a part of me quite happy I don't live in Ashland - I'd spend entirely too much supporting this outstanding local business!

Not much was open on a Monday, so were we glad to see a bakery with an open door! We ordered a chocolate peanut butter oat bar and a chocolate caramel brownie. What a sweet treat on our mural walk! Excellent service as well!

I wish this place was closer than 9 hours away. Friendly staff, and fantastic bakery items. Bread is the best I've found since moving to the US. Danishes and croissants are amazing. We'll be back.

Better than France! It's true - I've traveled Europe in search of the best baguette and little did I know it was right here in my backyard the whole time! The Ashland Baking Company is proficient in the art of baking. Their sourdough is ambrosia with the perfect duo of crunch and tang. The chocolate croissant is flaky with just the right amount of chocolate. I also enjoy their deli offerings. And need I go on with the cakes! So grateful to have this wonderful shop in Ashland!

This place is AMAZING. The staff is super friendly. We bought a macaroon, a shortbread cookie, and a loaf of their Asiago garlic bread. I can’t say enough good things you have to come here and try it yourself. My husband and I are from Milwaukee and I’m already planning a trip so we can come back. Wish we had a place like this by us!!
