I bought an apple tree a few days ago and it's showing signs of fungal diseases. When I went to return it the the person, Ann, was very insulting and telling me that she could re-sell the tree very quickly and that's simple to fix. Instead of saying how you can cure the diseases, you should just sell trees without them in the first place. When I went to look for a new one of the same variety it turns out that they all had the same issues. So if you buy a plant here, be aware that you may be buying something that's already been returned because it's unhealthy. Shows very poor business ethic and I will not be returning.

My friend bought a 10 by 10 gazebo while visiting the Ashwaubenon location. They found the one on Wisconsin Ave had it for the delivery option. It was delivered as expected. July 20th 2019 she was able to have it fully assembled. She was able to sit in it for about 5 minutes before a freak storm blew over.It was found that the little stakes that came with it were not enough to hold in it place & if they were, it would not have blown into the neighbors yard.She has contacted the company who constructed the product was only willing to replace one panel. 80% of this item was totaled.She did write Stein's via email only to find they too will not back their product at all. Their has yet to be a response to her inquiries.She did got into the store for assistance and was greeted with a big F. U. "but not literally of course." She is an elderly woman who can not deal with this kind of stress. She wound up with a perforated ulcer & was unable to respond to this issue in a timely fashion. That time between this happening & her being able to reach out for help was a factor.Now she sits with a pile of useless twisted metal & a mosquito mesh she has no use for at all.She has been a long time gardening member with Stein's up until now. She made it clear she will no longer shop there & she has been posting many blogs online as well.She made notice to me that she found the plants at Steins also seen to be poorly cared for & not worth the purchase. She told me she will be getting her plants from either Home Depot or Honeymoon Acres from now on.Unlike Stein's, Menards recognizes loyal customers like her and gladly honored an even trade in store for a broken flood light for a new one, no receipt necessary. Stein's simply didn't give darn she has shopped their since their beginings.If only Stiens offered a $50 gift card we would have remained customers. A company makes a drone, I purchased a drone, which was expensive. An act of God, wind gust, destroyed it. It was out of warranty. They still offered a huge 66% discount for a new one. I remain thier customer to this day because they back their product!!!

Very good garden center. They have most everything you need and want. The selection of flowers and trees, bushes, etc. is tremendous. Indoors they feature bird feeding supplies, grills, fountains, lights, fertilizers, succulents and other craft items. During the holidays they offer a wide variety of Christmas trees, poinsettias, boughs and garland.

Their selection of houseplants during the winter time is phenomenal!! I am floored at how beautiful and healthy they are too!! Definitely check them out!!

I think it's terrible that your hours are only to 6pm! How are working people suppose to shop at your store when you close so early?

My family and I went to Stein's to get an aloe plant. We only found 1 but ended up with a few other plants for the house as well.

Great selection with more than just plants and fertilizer. Pat is great! friendly and helpful and seems to create a fun work environment. being our first time visiting definitely made us feel appreciated.

Did not seem like they were doing what they could to keep their employees and customers safe. They only had some signs encouraging people to stay 6 feet apart but only 20% or so if employees had masks and you had to sign the credit card machine with their stylist. Had that been different wouldn't given them 4 or 5 stars, as they had a decent selection and their employees were friendly and helpful.

I love this store. I literally can spend half a day in here easily. I also can spend a couple hundred bucks too lol. There plants are the best for the price and the dog isle is nice as well. They even have quality dog food here!

I'm 50/50 about this place. I love that the employees are trained to understand basic plant care and tips. However, I'm not impressed at the customer service. I never know when I will have a polite, well-mannered employee or a rude, know-it-all. I work in customer service and understand it can be difficult. However, that is never an excuse to treat your customers poorly.

We bought a Christmas tree last week and were warned after the purchase that there’d been no precipitation recently, so to expect that our tree would need a lot of water. When we got home, it went promptly into a stand with water. 24 hours later it still hadn’t absorbed water—so I called to ask about it and was given a few tips to try to get water to the ring of phloem (which is the part that transports water). We followed the advise, crossed our fingers and put up lights. Needles fell as if it had been up for 6 weeks instead of 3 days. The color began to fade and the branches wouldn’t hold up most of our ornaments. I called Steins again, was transferred 4 times before being rudely questioned about what we’d done to the tree and told that if we wanted a refund we could bring it back. Now, I realize that bringing the tree back is the best way for them to see what’s wrong with the tree and verify that we weren’t trying to scam them, but I am disappointed and offended by how we were treated. The time spent getting the tree and decorating it, having to dismantle it, bring it back, find a new one, and set up/decorate again is worth far more than the tree was worth to begin with. Not to mention the fact that as a family we try hard to limit our exposure and activity, considering the pandemic. I guess I’m not sure I was expecting a no-questions-asked refund, (and in part, wanted to simply inform them that the trees they were selling may need to actually be watered so as not to pose as fire hazard to their customers) but, perhaps, a thanks for the information, an apology for the inconvenience, or some sort of empathy regarding the situation would have sufficed.

Huge selection of everything you need for plants, gifts and grills. They have one of the biggest and best outdoor selection for trees, shrubs and other plant material. Great place to go and look for plants with great customer service and reasonable prices for most plants.

I purchased a tree and the next day needed to return it, due to a fungus it had. Ann was as the service desk helping and she was so rude, she advised well someone else would buy it so quick and she could tell them how to fix it. Instead of telling me how to fix it (which I knew how, but didn't want to deal with it).So I returned the tree and when some where else to purchase two more trees. Stein lost my business and I don't plan on ever going back, if you talk to a customer like that you are in the wrong line of work.

I purchased about 80.00 worth of plants. I got home we planted them the following week. I kept them in a warm place. This was about in early April. I am not happy about the growth now. They look like I just bought them. Some of them even died. I water them regularly. Why could this happen? I am not very happy.

I went a few weeks ago and had a fine experience getting a nice bamboo plant.Today I called to ask if they still had Christmas cacti and was greeted by "Liz" who said "Yes, I believe so." She sounded about 70% sure, but clearly uninterested in checking further. On her word, I drove to the store to find they did not have any. Calling was my way of determining if I should go out of my way to stop by Stein's today and I was quite disappointed in the service received.

Great service, with a smile and beautiful items. Plants are very healthy and come with a guarantee if not in "as is" area of the greenhouse. Succulents, cactus, roses, herbs, perennials and annuals, many seasonal items such as pumpkins, water features, and Christmas decore. Outdoor and indoors items are of very good quality.

We visited Steins in Appleton during the week of 5/12. In past years they have been our "go-to" gardening center were we conservatively spend $500 each summer. When we visited last week, none of their employees were wearing masks and they were all chatting with customers at the checkput counters. They say their customers are important but not wearing masks endangers all customers - especially those of us who are higher risk. Unless they change this policy, we will not shop there again - not during the pandemic - not ever! Many smaller shops would love our business and practice safely wearing masks to protect thir valued clients.

There plants are so so... Bought sea green junipers two died very quickly and another not the greatest. The children working there don't answer the phone when your calling...or they don't know how...?

I would give a higher star rating if it weren't for the fact that not all employees were wearing masks. There were two outside checkout people and one of them was not wearing a mask. Honestly, it's a simple thing to have a mask policy.

I couldn't believe how many plants were dying from lack of water I heard one gentleman say it was due to freeze. I know the difference between plants that have been hit from frost versus no water Don't think I would waste my time from there I'm not the only one who's been there and seen this a lot of dissatisfied people I've heard

Overall they have a good selection of plants. Some things are more expensive than you will find at other club or discount stores but you'll find a lot of items here that you'll have a harder time finding elsewhere.
