Went to REI in Appleton to finally purchase my own backpacking pack after borrowing packs for previous trips. Anna was *sensational*. She was attentive, listened to my planned trip, made budget appropriate recommendations, and walked me through the fitting process. She was a joy to work with, and took the time to make sure the pack fitted excellently. She walked me through how to pack it correctly and adjust the bag as needed. I am happy with the choice of the Osprey Atmos AG 65. Finally she did an excellent job pointing me in the right direction for the next items I would need for my trip.This was my first visit to an REI, and it is safe to say I will be a returning customer thanks to Anna!!

Well run REI with knowledgeable staff and a clean and organized layout. We are visiting from out of state and needed some UPF clothing so we wanted to stop by. We found exactly what we needed. REI carries some great items and it's nice to know there are plenty of them across the US.

I spent a good amount of money upgrading camping equipment about 2 weeks ago. The wawaona 6 tent had a bent pole straight from the store and they sold me the wrong footprint for the tent. I had to return the tent and of course they have none in stock and the footprint for the tent they have no clue when or if they will come in. I returned everything very disappointed in REI and North Face. I wish I could get the money back for the membership.

Melissa is an absolute rockstar! She is super attentive to your specific foot needs. She is knowledgeable on their products and is able to make informed recommendations. Melissa provided us with her undivided attention while both myself and boyfriend were looking for road and trail shoes. 5/5 for both Melissa and this location.

Today was my first time at The Rei Co-op in Appleton, WI. I never went to the store before because I thought it would be too expensive. I am a very thrifty shopper. There are many clearance areas throughout the store. Plus, I found great sales. The staff members were so helpful and kind.The reason I finally went to Rei was because I could not find 3 finger mittens for my son. His hands get cold while skiing when wearing gloves. He doesn't like mittens. I looked online and in stores and could not find his size. Rei has everything outside. I ordered online and the pick up was fast and easy. It was so easy I had time to shop.

Higher prices then most places in the area and their membership thing is honestly annoying. I told one guy i wasnt interested and he proceeded to follow my wife and i around for the next 10 minutes talking about why we should join. After he left another guy gave me the same speech after saying i wasnt interested and that i already heard about it.If someone says not interested, leave them alone. I WILL NOT be back ill go 2 minutes down the road a support Scheels as they are not pushy and cheaper with the same or comparable products.

Went there to purchase ski boots for my new skis and bindings. Absolutely ridiculous that there are none. No Boots, no skis, no bindings for skits or snowboards. Suggestion was to order multiple sizes online and return what doesn't fit; absurd. Went there for expert help, boot fitting and to make a major purchase, and while the individuals are polite and understanding it is clear the store does not want the business. If you want to sell something (that you clearly advertise online) then have the item to sell on hand. You can't try on boots (multiple makes, models, or sizes) online. This is not like there wasn't a particular item or my specific size; there are NO SKI BOOTS, NO SKI BINDINGS. NOT SKIS. NO SNOWBOARD BOOTS, NO SNOWBOARD BINDINGS, NO SNOWBAORDS. PEROID. Save yourself the trip. Save yourself the money. Buy your gloves and hats locally or on Amazon.

I was there today with my husband and toddler. My husband was walking around, pushing the stroller and keeping our child occupied while I looked for a gift for my nephew. My husband was followed by staff, staff spoke loud enough on their walkie for my husband to hear that he was being spoken about. My husband was then asked about his job and the amount of money he makes, we were treated like criminals.I picked out socks and went to the register to check out and pick up an online purchase, I had forgotten my phone to prove purchase, once I made it to my vehicle to grab my phone, I decided to not return.I've worked in retail, I get that customers should be greeted and strollers are looked out for.To not even try to be discreet about following him and talking on the walkie close enough for him to hear, is a bad move.That shopping experience was so terrible, that I will be returning the online order and my nephew will be getting his gift somewhere else.

They were amazing. They spent much time with me talking about backpacks and fittings - and said right out that whether or not I bought it there, they just wanted to make sure I got what suited me and that it fit comfortably for the long haul. Sadly, they didn't have the model in the color I wanted, but I will be back.Outstanding service. A+++++

Sad day. I have shopped at REI quite a few times and have enjoyed it. For the most part, they seem to have good quality equipment, a good variety, but with a premium price. If you're in the mindset of "buy once, cry once", it's good. Today I walked toward the store with that mindset, excited about our upcoming outdoor adventure and how we would equip ourselves. That excitement was quickly dampened...I have, what I believe is a reasonable expectation to go into a specialty store like REI to equip myself. However, I'm truly sick and tired of that expectation being unmet due to being bombarded with political stance posters which attempt to pressure patrons to vote in certain ways. And, THESE POLITICAL STANCES HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH OUTDOOR EQUIPMENT OR ADVENTURE! If the stores signage was advocating for current ballot box issues like opening hiking trails and preserving natural resources, I would get it. This is not the case at REI.TO ALL STORES IN AMERICA!!! IF YOU'RE PROMOTING POLITICAL VIEWS THAT DON'T RELATE TO YOUR PRODUCTS RIGHT NEXT TO YOUR MERCHANDISE... PLEASE STOP! Stay in your lane of products. If you're an outdoor equipment sales facility or you're a wood fired pizza place... Just do that. And, do it well. We (the people) are sick of seeing political views that cross the line into attempts to "pressure" in a facility that shouldn't even have unrelated signage.I will be purchasing my outdoor equipment from another vendor from here forward. And, if this madness doesn't stop at REI, I hope others do the same so companies like this get the message WE'RE ONLY INTERESTED IN YOUR PRODUCTS.

I went to REI to find a pair of hiking shoes and had the most wonderful experience. I was unsure of what brand and style I was looking for, and Melissa was very helpful! She was more than happy to let me try on a ton of different pairs, and taught me so much along the way. Melissa was knowledgeable, patient, and very kind - 10/10 ⭐️

We went to the REI located in Appleton. It was our first time and we were unsure. Nancy jumped to help us, making suggestions, and putting us at our ease. We got exactly what we wanted! Dan was also extremely informative. Loved it and will definitely be back!!

Usually a good experience. Recently went in to return a sleeping bag. Used it, realized it wasn't warm enough. Couldn't afford a better one right away so I had to use this one a few more times. Finally got a new one so went to return my old one and the man at the register, an older man, was pretty rude, saying "we weren't an exchange program" and giving me a speech because he didn't want to take the return. Love this place but will be avoiding him in the future.

Went to find an electric bike for my teenage daughter. The staff was very helpful. REI allows customers to test ride the bikes before buying in the parking lot. This helped put my daughter at ease knowing she would be comfortable with the bike.

I was only here to pick up an online order. The store was impressive as you walked in. While I was waiting I looked around a bit and things were organized and tidy. Everyone who helped me was kind and efficient. Will definitely be back.

Definitely a very limited selection for a REI. I went there to find a pair of lightweight hiking pants but to my surprise, they have NOTHING in the store with a 34" inseam. Apparently they only stock 32" and below.

Really cute set up in the store. It was shockingly busy and the staff handled it very well. They were able to talk to everyone and answer every question. I saw some having in depth conversations with customers about specific trips and equipment. Very cool. Great service. I bought a really cute hat. If you even think that you're going to be back more than once the membership is more than worth it. The perks are great. All the items they stock are great quality. And you can usually grab some free stickers in the way out which I love!

They had plenty of staff. All were in general nice. BUT, they have this membership thing. I politely declined. (More than once) Told the cashier that I was already told about it & would think about it. Was then told, well you are already here, so you should just sign up. Ugh! No means no. Not sure how more direct I can be.

It was my first time at an REI, and it was great! Employees were very friendly and helpful. They have an impressive selection of everything from hiking backpacks to sleeping bags to sports equipment. Also was very happy to see a gender-neutral bathroom. Highly recommend!

First time customer. Went in for a pair of shoes. Was helped by a staff member named Ryan. Very helpful. He picked out a few pairs that he thought might work and the first pair was perfection. We browsed and were greeted by several really nice staff. The mask enforcement was one of the main reasons we chose REI. We were so pleased we bought a membership and will definitely be back. I cannot say enough about how pleasant this trip was.
