Update: We visited again without the kids in July 2023 as we were passing through on route 64. This time on a Friday afternoon. We were able to find a employee working in the back where the indoor hatchery was. He was super nice and helped us get our Blue Goose stamp from a coworkers desk. We also finally got to tour the visitor center and have posted pictures here. The coolest thing was they have an axolotl in one of the tanks! Would definitely visit again just to show the kids a axolotl. Now that it's summer the wildflowers around the pond are in full bloom and I believe is also a Monarch Waystation. Only downside is there isn't much shade here otherwise would be a great place to just hangout and have a picnic which I know some other fish hatcheries have. Maybe a different season than summer.Original Review: We visited on a Saturday afternoon in early April 2023 while driving through. We called ahead of time and knew they were closed. Also the visitor center was not open yet for the season. We took a peek inside through the windows and it looks like things were still be setup/arranged.Our goal was to get our White Sulphur Spring National Fish Hatchery stamp for our Blue Goose Passport both for the National Fish and Wildlife Service. We called and spoke to Jake to said if we were lucky there should be someone at the hatchery twice a day on weekends to feed the fish. Once in the morning and again in the early afternoon. He would let them know we were looking for the stamp on his desk. We arrived around 1:30PM and stayed for about 15-20 mins looking around but we weren't able to find anyone. All the offices and buildings were dark. Jake did say that if we wanted to we could mail a sticker in with a stamped and self addressed envelope and he would stamp it for us and mail it back. We may be passing by again in the summer and also on a Friday. If we can't catch anyone then we may mail a sticker in for a stamp. Since we were a little ahead of schedule and everything was closed, we decided to make our own fun and take some goofy photos. There was a pound out front of the visitor center which has some large trout in where are gorgeous. I'm surprised they can thrive there without some birds of prey coming in and grab them. There is also a feeder on the side of the building that uses change. Not much to see without any of the buildings being open so we left pretty quickly and hope to visit again the next time we are passing through on route 64.We had also just visited Dale Hollow National Fish Hatchery and the Wolf Creek National Fish Hatchery earlier in the week and both were fun and interesting. Wolf Creek is like the mega visitor center. Staff at the Dale Hollow Hatchery told us that all the smaller hatcheries pooled all their money together so that Wolf Creek could build the mega visitor center which was cool and definitely worth a visit.

Unfortunately the visitors center was closed. The state opened up June 20th so not sure why. Met an employee who talked to us for a bit and was very nice. Fed some trout and walked the property. Everything we saw was nice just didnt get to see it all.
