Two days in a row, I have been denied service to the store during business hours by two different employees. I have enjoyed the scenic area and my stay, but the store employees are inhospitable and, quite frankly, rude. I was told the store was open but still denied service before 5pm. If your store is in fact not open until 5pm, the hours need to be updated and clearly stated so guests do not waste their time hiking to the location.Food & drinks: I was unable to purchase any food or drinks due to issues with the store that I have stated in my review.

We had been coming here for almost a decade. It is not somewhere we will return. Management does not enforce rules and doesn’t deal with problems effectively. We stayed here for a week and the issues we had were people having dogs running all over our site. The two dogs were in our site, under our camper, and all over the place not on a lease. We have two large dogs who were on leases and would go crazy and get stressed when these three dogs were running around with no lease on our site. People walking through our sites non stop to the point of touching the back and sides of camper. When we took it to management they at first said they can’t control the people walking on our site. We disagree put signs up and remind everyone. They said what would do if a someone walked through your yard and were very dismissive and condescending. They did come down after speaking to Devon to talk to neighbors about dogs running everywhere and have to them on leases. The people did not listen so we contacted Fb messenger again with pictures of proof. They came down said something again. After that the neighbors were yelling curse words at us. When I messaged management, they said security was already down and they put their dogs on leases, and if you have more problems call 911. Absolutely ridiculous that management told us to call 911 instead of dealing with rude neighbors swearing at us! The people being disrespectful and not following rules was bad enough but management was very unwilling to deal with the issues. Management also has you fill out detailed list of rules to follow but don’t enforce nor care. Beautiful location but never coming back nor recommend this campground after this year….. to your response to us we have a problem with not dealing with the rude people swearing and cursing at us and you suggesting for us to call 911 instead of you dealing with the problem. That is not managing your property or problem customers

Huge campground. Signage was confusing a little we thought. We stayed in Area 4 which has a lower & upper section. Lower section is near the lake. It was rainy so quite alot of mud but we loved it. Each of the 4 areas were clean. We were happy we had bikes to get around camp- up & down gravel roads. Laundry in area 2 had issues with dryer but we informed maintenance staff. Restroom/ showers were clean. Beach area was clean maintained & you could moor your boat which was really cool.Nearby activities: The dam was nearby & very interesting. Alot of history. We visited the Summersville lighthouse, parks nearby & we did the hiking trails. Marina is around the corner to rent boat which we recommend to explore the beautiful peaceful lake. Amazing water falls, swimming.

We have stayed at both the campsite in a tent and in the cozy cabins. It's a nice place to visit but because of hills the map makes it appear as if many of the campsites are close to the water. That is incorrect just due to hills and wooded areas. Cozy cabins a/c is really a cooling fan during the summer heat because it did not cool well until the nighttime (in cozy cabin #7 at least), the beds are rock hard (I bought an air mattress after night one), and there is no sink in the bathroom which is why I gave 4 stars. The good is location, plenty of boat/vehicle parking at cozy cabins, excellent bed space, charcoal grill outside, picnic table at each and a furnished front porch which I enjoy every morning. We will definitely visit again (with an air mattress, an additional portable a/c, and skip buying food we ate at Mabel's diner all day (cheap good food).

Drove up for a few days getaway, time with family. The teens enjoyed the area to play ball, place was kid friendly, nobody bothered us. People across from us were friendly and let our kids play with theirs. We swam in the lake at a private beach because the pool was a little crowded for us. Bath house was bleached daily, unfortunately only 2 of 3 showers in the ladies side had water pressure. The kids enjoyed the ice cream shop the most lol. Great time for our family, memories made.

The Lakeside cabin photos and description are misleading. The Lakeside cabins are infact, lakeside, but not 50’ from the lake as advertised, more like 150’ down a treacherous hill. Cabins are small, calling it enough to fit 6 people is a stretch. Cabins were rustic at best. We were hit with an overwhelming smell of mildew and mold upon opening the door. The window AC has never seen a cleaning it’s it’s life. One ceiling fan didn’t even have all of its light bulbs in it, and all of the ceiling fan blades in every room were caked with dust. Every corner of the cabin had dust and dirt. It looks like the floors were just swept with a straw broom and had never seen a mop. The shower had spiders in it. The attached photos say it all. For a cabin that requires you to bring everything except cutlery, it was definitely not worth the money spent.. The lake was beautiful and the employees were very nice. Management however either needs to spend the money and update these cabins or call them like they are… dirty, and over priced.

Wow. We have stayed here 2 times within the last month and never had to put the down deposit. We paid when we got their BOTH times. $89.00 dollars both times plus we bought ice cream for my husband myself and our 2 children and that ice cream isn’t cheap plus Pizza and shirts and teddy bears from their and the drive down plus gas we spend well over $500.00 now you all are saying we have to put down a deposit for each campsite we get. That’s funny 2 weeks ago when we stayed we didn’t have to Also saying 6 people are NOT aloud at one campsite is messed up. We have a family member with 6 foster children discrimination against big families. We are definitely taking our money elsewhere.

The park is big so you will definitely want a golf cart if you plan on walking, the beach isn’t that nice but people enjoy it, kids liked kayaking from the beach, staff was extremely friendly! That’s the only great thing I can say. Their golf carts are not good they die fast, the only food on site is pizza one size (not big) and it’s almost $20. The showers were okay wish they all had a bench or something and maybe a little cleaner. I doubt I would go back to this campground!

Please for the love of god do yourself a favor and camp elsewhere.Came here with a friend, excited for a weekend getaway in beautiful West Virginia, and popped by this spot thinking we found a friendly, relaxing spot to put up tent for two nights. The second night it rained and we (stupidly) forgot to put a tarp over our tent so we had to get a hotel for the evening. We came back right before 2 pm - completely forgetting checkout was at 11 am. We came back to our campground and our tent had been moved. We figured they moved it - totally our fault- and we were okay with that. They had put it in the back of the checkout which we understood they had to do considering it was past checkout. However; they went INTO our tent, took out our clothes AND THREW THEM OUT IN THE GARBAGE. This was only 3 hours past checkout mind you. When I confronted the “manager” he was Incredibly rude and didn’t offer explanation or apology apart from to say we were “lucky” that they didn’t throw out everything. Please do yourself a favor and do not come here.

Wonderful place. Water front availability, multiple play grounds. Sewer truck service, beach, lots of new sites. Putt putt, general store and some other things I'm sure. Book way in advance for best selection. Pics of 206B, its a new site. Site is quiet, but not on a level section. Great for peace and quiet but not close to playgrounds or level for bike riding. There are many sites that are wonderful for all types.

Overall it was a decent stay, there are several "areas" you can camp on that are nicely described on their website. One of the few places closer to the lake. This place is really hard to get into during the summer but we got lucky with a two night last minute. Stayed in the fhu section, had a playground in the center but when the two campers pulled in you on the playground loop you couldn't see it anymore, nothing special honestly. This place is big so you have to drive everywhere. The main drive down to the fhu is gravel and has that awful washboard issue. The store was nice, the pool is very small, the ice cream parlor was excellent. The little swimming beach was decent but tiny parking area that gets packed quickly. Great kayaking launching off of salmon run with its own kayak dock. Heard copperheads are bad.

It was a great place. Very clean. My kids loved it. It was a great place for our first ever trip in a camper. Had no issues getting our bumper pull in. We stayed at site 103. So super close to the play ground. I do wish there was better spots next to the water or if the pool was bigger. But non the less it was a wonderful weekend.

Nice views. Nice amenities. VERY poor gravel campground roads. Struggled to keep the truck and trailer from being battered on the gravel roads. Steep gravel roads required I use 4x4 and proceed very slowly. Bathhouse placement is an exhausting hike up hill from many campsites. Bathhouse condition getting rough. Had NO hot water for either men or women side even though it was not busy.

First, I should say that we had a lovely vacation despite all the hiccups. We were in spot 268 with a tent. I do not recommend this spot for tent campers because it slopes ( this was mentioned in the description of the site on the website). We found the most level spot to set up but in the rain we still flooded. Our main complaints are the lack of hot water, water pressure, and the smell of the sewage plant located by the bathrooms. For all of section 2 there were 2 toilets and 3 showers. Only the last stall had enough water pressure to actually shower. There was hot water only one time in our week long stay. We drove to the other facilities but they had the same problem. The beach area was nice but after a downpour it was washed out and really not usable. We were also a bit disappointed after we flooded and had our tent collapse that no one from the campground stopped to ask if everything and everyone was okay. Our site looked like we were having a yard sale and many times we saw security drive by but never asked if we needed help. I'm pretty sure all the tents and at least one camper were damaged in the storm and we never saw them stop and talk to anyone. We had a fellow tent camper check on us but that was it. The play areas were nice and our kids were happy to have them while we cleaned up but I really feel for the amount of money they charge they could have maintained the grounds better. There was lawn maintenance happening in the morning when all the campers were cooking and getting ready for the day and at the Beach in the afternoon. It seemed kind of backwards especially because there was no regard for all the kids playing. There really was no regard for the campers at all. It's like once they got the money ....that's it. We have always camped where there is a friendly face to express concerns to, a camp host that wants you to enjoy your stay. This is not the case here. I know things happen camping, there will always be a hiccup but there was a definite feeling that this place didn't care. They didn't care if the line to take a shower was 2 hours and that there wasn't hot water. They didn't care if there was no toilet paper or hand towels. They didn't care that many families were left in the rain after a huge storm, and they didn't care that a teenager was swinging a weed Wacker 3 feet from children playing and they didn't care if families were enjoying themselves. We made the best out of a bad situation and our children have wonderful memories but not everyone there did or could have.

We stayed in site 442 with a beautiful view of the lake and we were able to walk down a path to take a dip. The park is beautiful, with very large sites, grassy or wooded that feel private. You need a golf cart to get to the pool, store, playgrounds, beach, and bathrooms. The quiet hours were not enforced but it wasn't too bad. Just glad we weren't camping next to the rowdys! There is a marina nearby where we rented a boat for the day 7am to 7pm. I will go back again and would recommend this. They have cabins and yurts too. The staff was very friendly and pretty knowledgeable and helpful. The store does not carry many camping items so be sure you have what you need.

From the moment we got to Mountain Lake Campground, we felt welcomed. The staff was so incredibly nice and helpful with any questions you would need. Check in was fast and quick. The old country store has anything you may need from souvenirs, food, cooking utensils, plus little extras for the car; such as oil, and car sensors. It made everything so convenient for our stay there. Once we drove to our campsite is was so pretty and spacious. Each campsite has a shower house which was a quick walk from each site, it was super clean and kept up. The activities the camp has to offer is truly meant for everyone. Even if your a non-camping type of person, there’s something for you! From swimming to put-put golf, to the beach and basket ball courts. It offers so much! It truly was an experience for everyone. I had a blast and I’m sure any family would too. I can’t wait till next year to come back and enjoy my vacation away from home!

The only thing worse than the poorly maintained road full of potholes, disgusting bathhouses, and rutted sites is the incompetent staff and terrible management. We made reservations a year ago for one of the few sites on the water. Someone else with reservations on the same site called to cancel their reservation for SEPTEMBER and somehow our reservation for JULY was canceled. I can only assume the person answering the phone doesn’t understand how a calendar works. Even though the campground admits they are 100% at fault they refused to give us the site we had reserved a year prior, the only thing they offered was a site in a completely different area of the campground away from the other three families in our group. Reserve here at your own risk. Note - The campgrounds mistake was discovered a week before our arrival, plenty of time for management to do the right thing and let the other campers know a mistake had been made and offer them another site. Instead, we were told "sorry about your luck" and split from the rest of our group. *Read the most recent Google and Trip Advisor reviews before you commit to this campground*

MLC has done a lot over the years. They spend a lot of attention to detail regarding their campsites and amenities. Sites are well maintained and there's a lot of on-site recreation. They also hold holiday specific events and other activities throughout the camping season. Visiting their website or calling is highly recommended to ensure you get the most from your stay.Playground: The campground has multiple playgrounds throughout the property, situated close to the center of each section. They're well maintained and look great.Restrooms: Each campground section has a restroom/bath house. Most include laundry as well. They're relatively standard campground facilities.Dog-friendliness: Dogs are permitted at the campground, with the exception of a few breeds, however they are extremely strict regarding vaccinations and etiquette (picking up excrement, barking, leaving animals unattended, etc.). It would be advisable to check their website or call regarding the rules.

Prefect place to camp. We were by ourselves with trees behind us. Got to see deer and turkeys. Nice little beach area to swim. Shower house was clean. They have awesome playgrounds. They have a mini golf course, and can buy the mining bags. Also, very close to kayak rentals and boat/diving trips!

We were disappointed in our most recent stay at Mt Lake. We booked a Yurt for a weekend stay. My husband dropped our bags at the Yurt while I loaded the family on the boat for a relaxing evening on the lake. At 9:30pm we were looking forward to showers and a good night sleep. Instead we spent the next hour cleaning our filthy Yurt. There was dirt and food on the floors, splatter on the toilet seat and the kitchen sink and counters had dried food on them. When we inquired about the lack of cleaning we were given a sincere apology and charged full price. Despite this poor experience, Mt. Lake has a lot to offer that is great. This is our first bad experience and expected a lot better customer service based on previous experience. I’m not going to let one bad experience keep us away but I won’t be cleaning a second cabin. The Yurt itself had pros & cons. It was spacious, has a nice site and surprisingly comfortable beds. However, we were over the skylight fairly quick with full daylight by 5:30am. Great for fisherman not so good for the kids. It was in the mid to upper 80s and it was hotter inside the Yurt than out by late afternoon. No way for the tiny air conditioner to overpower the magnified sunbeams coming through the skylight. The cozy cabins are a bit smaller but offer more privacy and comfort.

We tent camped memorial day weekend. Stayed on site 334 and 335. My only complaint is that way the tent site were set up. I was told over the phone that there was a camp pad because initially i would need to set 3 tents on one site but ended up buying an extra site because the lady one the phone couldn’t tell me how big the site was she just said “the tents have to stay on the camp pad”. So naturally assuming they were marked out with wood or even a bluestone pad. No there was no marking other than your picnic table was there. Your fire ring was a rock ring so If your planning to cook over the fire bring a grate. We knew 335 was farther down in the woods, we were fine with that but we got there late at night and had a hard time finding the picnic table in the dark because of nothing being marked out. Half our fault since we arrived at 8pm. Your sight is numbered up by the road. The good! The bathrooms were cleaned EVERY DAY, honestly even the porta potty was one of the cleanest as well. Nice hot water in the showers. They have a cute camp store, ice cream shop that I think sells food as well. The staff was friendly. They played the new Tom and Jerry movie at the little amphitheater, that was cool. Over all a really cool place just be prepared about the “camp pad” situation and make sure to bring a lantern.

We arrived on a Tuesday and planned to stay through Sunday. Place is beautiful. We were at site 334, So much rain but our tents stayed dry which having them on an incline was helpful. Not complaining about Mother Nature. We packed up Thursday in the rain but not because of the rain. I understand camping in the wilderness you run the risk of bears and security told us there was a bear. We kept our food in the car and cleaned up well after eating. Sure enough, he came into our camp twice. The thing that was upsetting is there was a bear trap next site over but it wasn't even open. Got a bit too close for comfort so we left. Asked for a refund... nope. The other thing that was upsetting, they cleaned the showers/ bathroom which is great! However, they must not dilute the bleach. Hung a brand new purse and towel on the hook and they were ruined by the bleach. I told the manager, he said sorry. Didn't offer to make it right. Not impressed.

Stayed here last summer 1 nite on way back from Smokey Mts.The roads to most camp sites are horrendous, thankfully I had booked in area that had a better road then most.We were pulling 34ft 5th wheel.Just driving around in our truck was a bumpy ride!!!We wd never risk taking a camper on most of the roads!!!The swim area is a real joke nothing but a rock area. The little ice cream shops were nice.Cute little mini pool.We wouldn't go back though because of roads. But it was definitely full campground.

After a couple years since my last review I figured it was time for an update. Still one of the best campgrounds in the area. I have been coming here for several years back when there was just a little blue building at the main check in with buckets catching rain leaking from the roof. It has became an awesome place over the years. I do wish to see more things to do in the future and I believe this will happen as they continue to grow more and more! Still only one complaint is the rv spots could use some graveling the mud really does track and some sites are a little tough to level on because of the mud when you have rain but that's it, still recommend to anyone looking for a great place with great staff to camp!

We stayed here 4 nights in a lakefront cabin. The campground areas looked very well maintained. Bathhouse and play areas were well kept. It's probably a nice place for people with an RV.The lakefront cabins are about 80 feet from the lake. This cabin wasn't as clean as I would have thought it would be given the Covid-19 situation; also it's very cramped. It's about 10' x 36'. One bedroom is about 6' x 10' and the other is about 8' x 8'. You have to close the bedroom door in order to open the bathroom door or the refrigerator as they interfere with each other. Also, you can't fully open the refrigerator at all because there's not enough room. Therefore you can't access the right vegetable drawer on the bottom. You can't see the lake much because of all the trees. To get from the cabin to the lake you have to go down a steep hillside with no trail or steps. The eroding bank leaves about a 2' drop off down to the water. The bottom of the lake is rocks, not sand or mud. So, tying up my boat at the water's edge meant having the hull resting on the rocks. This might be okay for a pontoon boat or a john boat but I don't like having my fiberglass V-hull sitting on rocks. You then have to kind of leap from the bank into the boat. I had thought about having my parents come and ride in the boat with us but decided not to. They are nearly 70 years old and could never have navigated the hill or gotten into the boat. The advertised "overnight boat mooring" area is just more rocky shoreline. I guess I was expecting a lake front campground and cabin to have some kind of docking facilities, pilings, a seawall, or something. We experienced 2 power outages while we were there and the jumping pillow was out of order. I guess I was expecting a bit more for what I paid.

My family spent the weekend tent camping here. The sites are mostly level and easy to access with large campers. The spacing between sites does offer a lot of room. Easy access to the private beach and lake, and private parking for boats. Close to the marina and Long Point trail. Has an fun putt putt golf course and a very yummy ice cream shop. They have activities on the weekends for kids like a foam slide. My only two gripes were: skunks, they were everywhere at night and the second of the smell of the restrooms, you can smell them before you see them.
