I got an amazing dog here 2 years ago for an incredibly reasonable price and the staff is great too. The adoption fee included all shots, spay / neuter, collar, leash, microchipping, and a vet if the dog needs it. They do also have cats here but not as many as dogs. Would definitely recommend to a friendPS. Thanks Jackie for putting me with who would be come my best dog friend. Haha

This is a very caring place. I had been thinking about adopting a dog. I visited there to just see what was available. I immediately found my new friend. I took him to foster for a week. Three days went by, and I knew I had to adopt him! The staff was so great, and the adoption went smoothly. Thank you to everyone at Harrision County Humane Society for being so great with all of the animals you help. "Sam" says thanks, too!

We filled out an application for a cat and were told that they would get back to us as soon as it was approved. We never got a call back even after calling several times over the course of five days, it just went straight to the answering machine. When they finally picked up the phone after 5 days they told us that the cat was sold at an adoption event. The worst part is that the staff told us that no other applications were filled out for the cat other than us so I find it unfair that we waited 5 days for a callback only to be told that the cat was sold for free at an adoption event 4 days AFTER we filled out the application. Highly unprofessional.

Love love this shelter! The people who work there truly care about the animals and are wonderful advocates to find the best home for each individual dog. I am in Wisconsin and rescued a dog, a Rottweiler actually from their shelter and everything they did to champion that dog was amazing. I am heavily involved in rescue from fostering to animal transport and I can't say enough good things about this shelter. They are in my opinion one of the best. So even if you can't adopt or rescue I'd highly recommend donating to this wonderful organization

Everyone was so nice while I was there. Special thanks to Sara for being so sweet to me. They let you take your time finding the right fur baby to love. I ended up coming home with a wonderful kitten named Tipper. He loves to play and lay in my arms and be held and rocked. I would recommend any one to go and get a fur baby from here. Thank you so much.

Our kitten came from here. She was very healthy and fully up to date on all shots and medication. I took her there to get spayed the staff was very kind and answered all of my questions. I recommend everyone adopt a pet.

We recently applied for a kitten. Found out our application was denied because we said that our last two cats were indoor/outdoor cats (mostly indoor, but went out occasionally, bc they loved it outside, roaming and just being cats). Always came in whenever they wanted to, and always at night. Didn't even really spend a lot of time outside. Mostly house cats. Also, that I had put, on the application, that this one would be kept indoors, unless it wanted to go outside. I also noted that it would be kept indoors, at night. We have always taken excellent care of any pet that we have had. To say that we would not be a good cat owner because we may let our cat outside.... seriously!? There are people who drop their pets off and leave them, chain dogs up outside in freezing weather, starve their pets... and these people deny our application. Way to applaud someone for being honest, on their applications.

I've adopted many pets from here throughout the years. They are a great humane society and really try to find the perfect home for their furry friends. They don't just try to ship off the animals to whoever wants them, they actually try to make sure it's a good fit for the animal and the people adopting.

Its a no kill shelter, so thats already terrific. The employees there are very kind and i dont feel they get enough credit for their sacrifices for these animals. Please donate your time, money or supplies to your local humane society.

The people were great. The animals are amazing. I wish I remember the black and white dogs name that will follow you for petting. The animals look very well taken care of. I have not adopted yet. I want to make sure i can give one of the cats as good of a home.

Tried to adopt. Needed Director's clearance for some unexplained reason. Was told Director would call me tomorrow. Waited until 1pm. Called them, got "the director is not in on Saturdays. She will call you Monday." I call Tuesday and leave another message. I call every other day for 2 weeks- the Director is never there, nobody knows anything, can I take a message... until finally one day I am informed that the dog I was interested in had been transferred. Nobody called me back. This place is run like a Soviet bureacracy but with half the efficiency and professionalism.

Edit: I finally got to bring back the dog, and you would have thought I was the worst person ever. Yeah it sucks but don’t be rude...I adopted a dog from here almost two months ago, and it’s been the worst two months of my life. At first he wasn’t bad at all, and now he’s biting people! I went to take him back and they told me I had to keep him until they had space; even though I told them he’s biting!! I get that there’s a contract, but if he’s hurting people then they should take him back and figure it out.

Had someone drops cats off at my house, I trying to do the right thing and find somewhere to take them call the humane society and the guy was so rude he didn't even let me finish talking before he cut me off and in a nasty snoty voice said "Nope, Nope we do not take animals from the public, you will have to take them to animal control." I understand you can't help me but do you have to be rude and nasty I am only trying to be a good citizen unlike the people who dropped the cats off at my house. Totally rude and uncalled for.

I haven’t been to this place yet but so far I have gotten good responses about them and I would like to adopt a pet sometime and as well as volunteer there. I’m only 14 and I really have a heart for animals and I’ve heard they are clean and very well taken care of.

We applied to adopt a kitten that would live inside our home. We were automatically denied because we have an outside dog and were given no explanation or even asked about our dogs living situation. Very saddened with how this was handled and that we couldn’t adopt because of this.

Clean facility. Very friendly staff. You can tell they care for the animals. Adopt a pet and they gift you with a care package for your new pet. Animals are well cared for.
