Local hang out frequented by lots of usual suspects who love to strike up friendly conversation with visitors. Best burgers in town. Super juicy. Also vegan options. Get there early. Kitchen closes at 8 sharp. Good selection of local and other brews on tap. The usual cans and bottles, ice cold in the cooler. The Mecklenburg Inn is a big supporter of local musicians. Open mic night is on Thursday. It’s free. Bring your 6 string. Folks come in to get their feet wet playing in front of others. Local bands most Saturday nights with a small cash cover. Amazing outside garden out back. Lots of old hard-scape, mature trees and places to sit from the nicely laid out tables to the swing.Darts in the back room and every once in a while, shuffleboard. The game of the day is usually on the screen above the bar.Definitely put it on the list if you are stopping by Shepherdstown. George the owner, Lynn, Kevin, Audra. They will all take very good care of you.

I'm surprised I've never been here but delighted that I wandered in. Great spaces inside and outside with the friendliest staff. The food was a great compliment you the mixed drinks and atmosphere. Definitely a great place to relax, enjoy music, and time with friends

Had a quick drink while we were waiting for a table at another local restaurant. I love the atmosphere here it's standing only at the bar. They do have plenty of tables to sit down. Drinks were tasty and the service was great.

the Meck always has wonderful Vegan options. Today we were able to take advantage of the Vegan brunch options. Breakfast Burrito and French Toast Casserole. Sides of potatoes and Cajun cauliflower hash. Staff is always wonderful and the environment is amazing. THANK YOU 🌱🌱🌱🌱

This little hidden gem has a dope out door seating area. Like in its own hidden forest. Beer selection was great. Bar tender was friendly enough. They don’t always have food so keep that in mind. I think they close the kitchen (or food service) between lunch and dinner. But you can bring your own chow in from what I understood.Coool place will definitely be back.

Great local hang out. The casual decor is a perfect fit for a friendly, down to earth watering hole. The menu is pretty limited, but the burger was juicy and delicious. If you are in a rush, this is not the place for you, but if you want to hang out with a few friends and enjoy a burger and a beer and a conversation, you'll love it.

Great place to eat some delicious burgers and cheese fries. Was in town to visit the college and stopped for lunch and the burger was cooked perfectly and the cheese fries decadent. Cold, yummy stout beer from Rippon Brewery. No frills food and good beer selection. Outside dining was beautiful and relaxing.

Service was terrible. Bartender was too busy chatting with bar patrons to take our order properly. We had to go up to the bar to order and even then, the order was not correct. We ended up getting everything resolved by speaking to the cook. He was wonderful in correcting the order and had a great personality. Needless to say, we tipped the cook after our meal. We received nasty looks and comment from the bartender after she realized we only tipped her $3. The cook did a great job preparing our food and it tasted great.

It's definitely a no frills place. But it's also not trying to be more. We had some great locally sourced beer, some decent wine and some fantastic food.Ordered the burger and the blt with a side of fries. The burger was very good. Not amazing, but solid. But the rest was so much more. First, the blt was above and beyond! And my wife is British and has had hundreds of them. It truly was spot on. If I could give any shade at all, I'd say to have rasher instead of American bacon. The fries... Probably the best we've had! Simple, hot and very crispy. Don't walk by this place, go in!

Picked this place randomly to eat lunch off the C&O canal on a bike ride to DC. It was COVID so they only had burgers and dogs for lunch available and of course beer. The burger was amazing I had some sort of Oak beer that was on draft I wish I remember the actual name one of the best beers Iv had. The outdoor seating was shaded nicely and beautiful!

This bar became a go to during my time in the town for work. The locals there were great and the beer selection was prime. They take their Jeopardy very seriously. Fun times. If I ever come back I will be stopping by again. Bar tender there, she was great also. Definitely a locals watering hole.

This joint is SO the bomb! Highly recommended! I taught at the university for a year back in the late 90s, and tried to get to the Meck at least once a week. It is always great to go back, especially in the fall, and hang in the outdoor space! The music was great yesterday too!

Excellent atmosphere even for a college town. Great looking outdoor section and furniture. The bar has an old tavern / pub feel that makes for drinks king spirits and ales very fun. Bartender was cool and the price wasnt bad at all for what you get.

This is not an actual INN. So but why there name have the INN part in it. ? I don’t know. Beats me. This is a bar pub place with darts and live music which is sometimes can be very good. Bar staff is nice but might be terse when u ask about the available rooms like I said its not an actual INN so the bartenders got confused when I asked if to stay the night LOL but yes this is a good place. With nice out doors area

Good selection of beer, friendly bartenders, all in a building that's 200+ years old. But the best part is the beer garden out back - an absolutely perfect spot to enjoy a beer with friends. Also, the food is good - try a burger or the steak-n-eggs.

This bar is a cornerstone to the culture of shepherdstown. On any given night there will be a great bartender and a varying cast of friendly locals and various tourists that are always guaranteed to make for a good time. Great live music nights vary from simple one man acoustic sets to rambunctious grateful dead tribute nights that are always event worth witnessing. Check out the menu and try out the beautiful relaxed back patio area when the weather permits. Think about everything a bar is supposed to do, and the Meck does it at least two steps better.

The Meck is a great place to visit in Shepherdstown. It is a locally stop. During the day, it has some good food selections and at night they try to have local bands but regardless it is a chill spot. Check it out for yourelf, grab a beer, and talk it up with your friends or locals. Have one for me. Cheers.

We were visiting from Baltimore and decided to go in and look around. But without even me talking to him or ordering anything, the red headed bartender demanded to see my ID. He had to know that I was 21, even though it was my 25th birthday. When I said I didn't have it, he rudely said, "You can't be in here without ID."I would give this place a 0 out of 5 if I could simply for the treatment just walking in the door. The experience left a very sour feeling for the rest of my day. And it's not a place I would ever want to go back to again, even with ID.

Place says 21 and over after 3pm. I went in with my wife and kids at 2:30pm and guy tells me it’s 21 and over only. Didn’t know this place was a high end establishment to be changing their policy whenever they want. Will never come back and will pass on this judgement to all my network.

The Meck garden is one of my favorite places in Shepherdstown. The staff are awesome and it's a great place to run into friendly people. The bar menu is good and the vegitarian/ vegan options are appreciated.

The room is beautiful and we also had a beautiful huge sitting room. Fireplace in both.! I can't say enough about the friendly staff and townspeople. So friendly and welcoming. We are from New Jersey, and will without a doubt, visit again 😊😊

This is a great place. When you walk in the door it's very deceiving, not much there except the bar, but when go out the back door it opens up to a fabulous beer garden. I wish we could have stayed for the band.

Terrible service. The bartender last night was consistently rude, rolled her eyes, and had the worst customer service I’ve seen from a service industry worker. She was awful, therefore affecting my rating of the establishment. Otherwise- CUTE place with great drinks.
