I drove out to shepherds town, wv to visiting Shepherd university and found this wonderful tea shop “Lost Dog coffee and tea house” with so much more.I ordered a lavender London fog from a young man Zane, he was friendly and knowledgeable about teas. A pleasure to speak with. The tea was so delicious.Lost dog coffee and tea house is A true Treasure and well worth the visit. You can walk up to the window outside and order or go in and sit and enjoy the music.

Cutest little coffee shop with a large selection of looseleaf teas inside. Loved the chaotic menu posted outside, many flavors and many drinks available for all types. Barista was super nice and made a perfect double cortado. The chai latte was nice and spiced, the fresh ground nutmeg was an expert touch that brought it all together. They have great little baked goods, I highly recommend trying one.

Great little spot on a Monday when everything else is closed! I honestly came because I read online they supported our Veterans. Coffee was great 👍 Ambiance was awesome with Jazz music 🎷. I grew up around here before I left for the US Navy 30 years ago. Glad to see the revitalized towns throughout the area.#HomeTownUSA

Excellent espresso and great service. The best part was that they refuse to serve espresso to go! I ordered my espresso and needed a cappuccino to go and the gentlemen behind the magic held off on the cappuccino until I had finished the espresso. Espresso served with a glass of sparkling water. Thick, creamy, dark, and absolutely delicious. Limited seating, but obviously a popular spot for the locals. They also have a great selection of teas to purchase leaves or to drink.

We absolutely loved the Lost Dog.The owner is a genius and was a pleasure to talk to. The guy should write a book on service because they get it right.Personalized service - no “step to the side, next!” nonsense. You see them making your coffee. The cortados we ordered were so good we can back the next morning and ordered them again. The ambience is perfect,If you can grab a seat outside, it’s one of the best places in town to sit and relax.I live five hours away in Staten Island, but I can’t wait to go back.

My girlfriend and I have been coming here consistently for just about a year now. The owner, hands down, makes the best lattes we have come across in our lifetime. Whenever we travel, we try as many lattes from as many vendors as we can, with the intent on comparing those with those served up at Lost Dog. The conclusion, we have yet to find a barista that has mastered the blend of coffee and flavor like Lost Dog has.Keep up the hard work, you're doing a great job!!! 👍

My husband and I stopped at this super unique coffee shop, and I asked for a sweet but strongly caffeinated drink and to just surprise me. I was made an iced vanilla pistachio latte, and let me tell you, it was the best coffee I've ever had! My husband got an iced mocha latte, and it was equally delicious! I wish we lived close because this would be a daily stop.

I was very excited to try this place as it was very hyped up.The vibes of the store are very cute and they have lots of teas and syrups.I would like to warn anyone that it is not handicap accessible especially not wheelchair accessible so if you're a wheelchair user and shy this might not be the place for you. I tried to take my parent (who uses wheelchair) and they were too embarrassed to yell up from the street to order. The low rating is due to the fact that the drink we got wasn't very good. We got a dirty chai with regular milk. It was incredibly watery. More watery than a London Fog and the flavor was very weak. Chai usually has a much stronger flavor and I was disappointed to have a drink that tasted like a tea bag was dipped into it for 0.5 second.I wouldn't go again given the experience. I also found the cafe to be very dirty. I saw caked on milk on the steam wand (which was cleaned before use thankfully) and dust on every surface. It doesn't look like they rotate their stock very often either as some of the syrups had separated.Edit after owners response: okay.

Some of the best coffee and chai I have ever had. I have stopped by a few times now and never leave unimpressed. The entire team is amazing at what they do, from drinks to baked goods. I don't think there are many baristas in the tri-state area as knowledgeable as the Lost Dog team. I need to come in to buy some tea next time! Probably one of the best businesses in Shepherdstown that has stood through all the tests of time, the lost dog will always be amazing.

We ordered strawberry smooth, Jasmine Dragon Pearl tea, and a vanilla latte. All was wonderful. Quick service a few sitting options outside. Awesome variety of drinks and snacks

I have to be honest… the Lost Dog experience is divisive. Giving it 5 stars you can see which side of the divide I land. I’ve been a Lost Dog customer for probably as long as it’s been open. (I need to check that with Garth.) I don’t generally do the elaborate drinks but when I do these are delicious. My standard order these days are an espresso and 2 lbs. of beans to grind at home. I always appreciate the good advice and thorough descriptions of the beans by Garth et al. Cheers!

This is an authentic gourmet coffee shop. The focus is on coffee and tea, so expect that going in. This dying breed refuses to give in to the corporate muscle of the chains and continues to offer an authentic experience. I thought it was charming. My wife was unimpressed. The store front is slightly confusing. Order at the window. There are a few tables in the back, just use the door off to the left. Cash is preferred, although I believe credit is acceptable. If you're looking for some corporate behemoth that refuses to pay a living wage, this is certainly not that place.I'll be back.

We visited Shepherdstown this past weekend and visited this spot many times. We always had a great experience and plan to visit Shepherdstown again. However, on our last visit on our way out of town, this old man who can I only assume is the owner was the most unpleasant person on our entire trip. When I attempted to pay with an AMEX card he told me I can’t use it and asked if I had something else to pay with. Which is completely fine, and I immediately pulled out a new card. Except he threw the card back and me and went on this entire (vulgar) rant about AMEX. There was no reason to treat a customer like that, let alone a customer that gave you no resistance otherwise. I’ll take my card in my hand next time, sir. Completely unacceptable and for this reason we won’t be back if this guy is the owner.

GREAT little tea and coffee shop. This guy turns making tea into an art form. He's really well versed in teas in general. Friendly, courteous, and knowledgeable. Great outdoor seating. Walk up window service. They also sell fine bulk teas from China. Recommend!

I was never a fan of gourmet drinks until my wife took me to Lost Dog. They have such a unique assortment of delicious looking desserts and drinks, it's difficult to want to try something new. We usually each get a no sweetener added latte. Those things are so strong, yet so smooth. We went to Savannah (the old town) and tried numerous different coffee places and none could match Lost Dog in Shepherdstown. This a great local business!

I ordered the Lemon Turbo Coffee Sour. It’s the most unique coffee combination I've ever had. It’s such a surprising combination and was light and refreshing on a hot day!

My first trip here featured a barista with a huge mohawk. That was a long time ago, but every trip back has been just as good. Name says coffee, but they also have an amazing selection of tea, pastries, and other drinks. Eclectic is a word that gets used too much these days. This place could easily be named Eclectic Coffee and Lost Dogs. Espresso macchiatos are amazing served in whatever they have, often antique china, they have locally grown produce out front for anyone who would like to take it. I sat at a table next to a stuffed white tailed deer (buck) with a bra in his antlers, and then rode home. No doilies, Styrofoam, and scripture here - this place rocks.

The owner was kind and attentive to detail in making our drinks. The shop itself was very charming. Loved the artwork on the walls and the series of unique chairsWheelchair accessibility: Unfortunately the interior of the shop is not wheelchair friendly as there are steps to enter and not much room to negotiate between tables and shelves. There IS an outside service window, however it is not at an accessible height.

We stopped by this coffee shop while on a mini vacation in town, it's truly a place that has to be visited. Stopping inside and taking a look takes you to an experience like no other, and warrants many more visits. This place started my tea addiction, and was even worth the second trip back exclusively for coffee and tea. If you want a completely new experience whether it's a quick drink on the go or a new hobby of brewing tea and coffee this should be your go to. You can get lost looking at the Pu Erh teas from Asia and, the staff has amazing recommendations even when you have no clue what you are looking at. Will definitely be visiting again soon for more of everything.

I came across this establishment completely by accident. I was craving coffee which is something I rarely enjoy, so on my way to a different coffee shop I saw Lost Dog and decided to give it a chance. The interior was welcoming and the smell was wonderful. The service was above exceptional. I was walking across the street to get to my car (parked on the other side) when a driver nearly crashed into me. The owner of the coffee shop body slammed me into the pavement to save me from the car. It took a moment to process what had happened but when I looked at the owners face I recognized him. Four years prior, in a few towns over, my house was on fire. That same man was a pedestrian on the street and saved me and my four children and two dogs and lamb and three fish from the house fire. I have been meaning to leave this review for a while but was reminded when I was in the local McDonalds and began choking on a double bacon cheeseburger with extra bacon. The man preformed the Heimlich on me and saved my life. I later found out he saved my father during the events of 9/11. I owe my life to the owner. 🙏But the coffee is only okay 4/5 stars
