We were on a weekend getaway at a cabin in WV. Our dog got a decent sized gash in her ear. We called so many vets in the area, no one was available to assist on a Saturday, but then we got in touch with Paws & Claws. They were wonderful. They took us in at the exact time they said, no delays, and the surgery was quick. They explained everything & answered all questions we had. Their service & care for animals is incredible. We are so grateful for them & highly recommended them. Pretzel is happy & recovering! THANK YOU PAWS & CLAWS TEAM!!!

We have been a client here for close to 20 years, all three of our pups have seen Dr Trent , she has done surgeries for them, a better Dr of veterinary services would be fine hard to find.

this is a great vets office, they always manage to take care of my dog, Sammie, even with his temperament issues.Me and my family decided to go on a week long vacation, but we flew, and the hotel we were staying at did not allow pets, so we decided to board him at Paws and Claws. My dog was 5 pounds and 2 ounces when we left him there, which is the average for a Yorkshire Terrier (Yorkie), and we had very high expectations for this vets office due to their reputation and their reviews. We didn’t get any calls updating us on how he was doing, but when we picked him up they said, “Oh yeah, he did SO good!” When we got home my mom asked me to weigh him, (his spine was poking out more than what it used to, and he just felt skinnier. (I’m sure all dog owners would understand, you know what your dog feels like, you know?) He lost 6 ounces (he weighs 4.6 lbs now.) A small dog breed like Sammie, should never be under 5 lbs, as that is the lowest average for the breed in general. I am in no way bashing this company or this vets office, but I feel as if they spent more quality time with him other than “play time” with the other dogs, he would’ve felt more comfortable eating, (that’s if they even left the food bowl in his kennel the WHOLE time because my dog won’t down a WHOLE bowl in ONE feeding due to his size.)Again, I am not bashing this vets office at all, I still enjoy their work, but the boarding house needs some work.UPDATE: My dog has fleas!! When i say fleas, i mean FLEAS!! Not to mention I was only supposed to pay $180, and they charged me $295 because they decided to give him more shots!! (he had an appointment a few days before we boarded him)!

I have been coming here for almost 2 years now. But yesterday, I had to make the hardest decision of my life. The people here gave me all the time in the world to spend with my sweet girl, one more time. The love, compassion, and consideration they showed was unreal. I am forever thankful for the time they gave me yesterday to make my decision. These people not only care deeply for animals, but care just as much for their owners. The way that everything was done was pure professionalism. I am so glad that my Chloe was not only taken care of by these people, but was also loved until the end. Thank you, Paws and Claws for all you do for our furry friends. I will never go anywhere else.

I recently moved to the Shady Springs WV. area and was seeking a reputable Veterinarian for my 2 babies, after research and checking the online reviews I decided to contact Paws & Claws Animal Clinic since most of the reviews were positive and also the closest Veterinarian to me. I called to make an appointment and Tonya ( the receptionist) was helpful in scheduling me an appointment the next day. My entire visit from beginning to end exceeded my expectations. Tonya at the front desk was very customer friendly as well as Kenny, Autumn and Chloe. Dr. Black was very professional, attentive to my pets needs and also easy to communicate with. The entire staff I mentioned above I feel was sincere in the overall care for my pets needs and I will continue to use for my pets care in the future. My follow up visit two weeks later Hannah was the assistant to Dr. Black and she also was very friendly and customer oriented.

God bless Dr. Black & the entire staff! They saved my dog's life! Even though we were not clients, they welcomed us right in when I called & ask if they would take an emergency case. I was kept informed of his condition & feel we received the very best care. Pricing was very reasonable also. At his follow-up visits we were welcomed back like family. Highly recommend taking your dogs and/or cats here!

As funny as this will sound I took one of my 8 week old chickens in because of a terribly bad toe injury. Called every other vet I could find in a 75 mile radius and called paws and claws and sure enough they see chickens. Some $ later and I was able to get antibiotics and a gel spray for the injury for my baby chicken and now have a trusted vet for the rest of my flock. If you’re local and need a vet for poultry needs, don’t hesitate to reach out to them. Very thankful for them.

So thankful for this clinic for acting so fast and getting both of my boys better from having parvo. Wasn’t sure our boy would make it through the night but with lots of love and attention they got my boys right back to where they needed to be. I’ll forever be grateful for Dr. Black and her staff for being so helpful checking in and giving updates and taking time to answer all questions and make our minds at ease from stress. Employees are very slow at taking care of animals. MY is in renal failure and only requires about 3 or 4 min to give her her meds. It's most times I show up with her we are left setting in.the parking lot anywhere from 45 min to an hour in the heat with no water and her confined in a small cage until they decide to take her in. This is very hard on a sick animal .

Very through and professional clinic. Compassionate veterinarians who listen to concerns, address them and give great results. Follow up is exceptional as well. Convenient appointment times that are very efficient in seeing and treating your pets. Would definitely recommend!

Absolutely love this place, I was always loyal to Dr.Wills but when he retired I was up in the air for a place to go. I can not say enough good stuff about Paws & Claws, the staff is amazing and the Vets are extremely knowledgeable and very good with the animals, I definitely recommend them.

I normally don’t review places. But I feel this is worth posting. I called this establishment to inquire about getting my dog (my best friend of 14 years) euthanized... Due to all the COVID restrictions, vet clinics are booked as much as they can be and walk-Ins have to wait a long time. Totally not their fault... My dog’s regular vet is not near my home and though I understand it was not a usual request, I asked to come to this vet and have this done as I live nearby (within one minute) and could arrive within 3 minutes of being called in by the clinic. I requested this so that my dog wouldn’t have to sit in a car for 2+ hours while waiting to be euthanized. The very kind lady on the phone went and asked the vet if this would be possible. The response: I can pay $275 (every other vet is under $50) and once I check in, would not be permitted to wait at my home until the call. While I realize the unusual request, these are unusual times and compassion is lacking in this case. Everyone is being asked to modify their routines right now. So being flexible is key. I had considered switching to this vet for my other animals and future animals due to convenience. That will never happen now due to the price gouging and lack of basic compassion for a suffering animal and owner.

My family has been seeing Dr. Trent since my childhood. My cat had some weird rash. We had taken her to another vet who didn't know what the issue was. After seeing Dr. Trent, she was all fixed up. Since then, between that, and the emergency vet service availability, I hate taking my fur-babies anywhere else. Dr. Trent's sister, Amy, always makes me feel safe leaving the animals there. She carries them away with such care. Recently, we've been seeing Dr. Black with our new puppy, and our newly adopted 11-year-old chihuahua. He was honestly in such rough condition, she came out to meet me despite the curb-side pick-up routine they've adopted since the coronavirus. She explained to me what was going on with him and quoted me what kind of money to save for an upcoming surgery. She was also very patient with me as she explained flea med options. I appreciate that SO SO much, not just being told, "Here's flea meds." She explained the differences between options and allowed me to make an informed decision. Much respect!! Thank you all!

Excellent experience. The only downside being having to wait in your car during the appointment. No entry inside is allowed. Very friendly staff and dr was very thorough over the phone.

Dr. Trent is amazing. She is the only vet in the area that I will take my ferrets to. There is another vet that I have taken my ferrets to before that said she knew how to treat them, but two ended up dying under her care. Dr. Trent definitely knows what she's talking about! Her staff is very nice and prices are reasonable. I also have cats and dogs which I take to another vet simply because he is closer and you don't have to have an appointment. But if for any reason I had to stop taking my animals to him, Dr. Trent would absolutely be the one I would go to.

This organization is absolutely top notch. Dr Trent and all of the employees are exceptional. Fur babies are family and they diligently explain everything. One of our puppies has seizures and they are all understanding and helpful when we have questions. We lost one puppy last year and they were really attentive and understanding in our grieving. We even received a handwritten letter expressing their sympathy. That letter is TREASURED. Giving this organization a five-star review is an understatement. It's been many years now, but it was Dr. Trent. Took my dog there, and was told they would call if he needed surgery. They didn't call me, but operated, saving the dogs life. All good and well, however I told them to call first, because of the$1,000 charge. They didn't call, but went ahead with the procedure. They got upset, that I could not afford to pay. And took me to court, and threatening us!! Things were only settled, when they excepted, a lump sum payment, from another family member. Vet on Dry Hill road, treated us much better.

Saved my 3 year old dog Remy. Remy some how got Parvo? We gave Remy his shots years ago. I never take Little Rem anywhere. Vet wasn't even going to test him because of his age. He got sick very quickly. Losing weight it seemed in just days. Wouldn't eat. Just totally not himself. 6 days in the vet, Remy finally started getting back to him normally feisty self. I appreciate what they did for my doggie

Received an appointment next day. Very knowledgeable friendly staff!! My 180lb English Mastiff is having difficulty getting up from laying or sitting Dow. Previous vet took an X-ray of her knee charged me$700 to tell me she had arthritis. Paws n Claws vet looked at x-ray and stated no arthritis either. She requires a TEL Surgery for tore carrttlidge. So finally got an answer and advice thanks Shady Spring Paws & Claws.

Had to put my dog down. The staff was very helpful, polite, and made sure we understood what they were saying. The price is a bit high, but you cant really have a price on a life.
