Recent travels to more urban and suburban places in the region had me longing for home, and the wonderful stores we are fortunate to have here in Tucker County. Adkins Home Center is one such store. The place has been here FOR DECADES AND DECADES AND HOPEFULLY WILL BE HERE FOR MANY MORE DECADES TO COME! Apologies for the capital letters, but I wish for this wish to be fulfilled--here is a store where you are greeted and helped, where both "youthful" and more "senior" employees are knowledgeable and friendly. This year, I picked out the new paint color for our house exterior - and Karen did an excellent job of helping me. All the employees are fantastic--witty, funny, but also helpful to those of us like me who may be going on an errand for some hardware that we really don't know anything about...and we are able to return home with the needed item :-) Folks, as the end of year approaches, give your peace of mind a boost and travel to Parsons, West Virginia, with your hardware needs list, your holiday gift list, your miscellany list, and stop in to Adkins Home Center. Supporting local stores like this one helps us all!

I would give this a 3.5 rating if I could. Well the folks are pretty good But with they would clean up & organize their store more.I will say though for a local country hardware store their $$ Prices are pretty competitive even against LOW's !That is surprising, now not all but many things! They will deliver if a reasonable amount is ordered depending on the distances. I live about 25 -30 minutes from them. Just wish they would make their place more professional looking.

Unlike "big box " stores, You get quick, personal help from the staff. They carry a wide variety of products for inside, outside, and all around the house. It's great to have here in Parsons to save a trip to bigger towns when You run out of something in the middle of a project. Good assortment of products, too.

NOT ADA Accessible - NOT currently recommended:This location does NOT have an ADA Accessible Entrance or Restroom. Must climb multiple steep steps to enter this building.Management has been repeatedly asked to install an ADA Accessible Entrance ramp, but has chosen not to do so.As an alternative, we recommend taking your money to H&H Hardware in Thomas, WV where the store is much more ADA Accessible.Please contact Adkins Management to advise them that you are taking your business to a more accessible location and to request that they make the necessary improvements required by law.

When it comes to those last minute unplanned repairs it's always nice to have a local shop to turn to. My pipes froze and busted last winter and prompted a complete redo of the plumbing in my house, I found everything I needed without ever leaving town.
